This beautiful custom masterpiece home was inspired by Ashford Castle in Ireland.
The residence sits on three lots & 350 feet of Shoreline.
It was built of custom hammered stone in English Ashlar pattern and 100-year-old Carthage marble that came from a home that was razed to make room for the Kemper Museum.
Architectural details consist of 18-foot ceilings, hand scraped oak floors, original stained glass, mid-19th-century hand carved fireplace mantle, round dining room with 200-year-old hand sculpted fireplace mantle and custom mural. Elevator access on all floors.

I've seen so many old castles in Europe, and none of them looks like people could live in them comfortably by today's standards, but this is how modern castles should be built. I recently saw one in Atlanta that is also a real beauty. There should be a revival of these magnificent homes with a focus on multi-generational living.

My good friend, his mom’s place is next door to this house. It’s a great house, but it’s surrounded by homes worth 1/2 the value of this home. Not all ways wise to build the biggest joint in the hood. This is a great place!

Hey i built that!...My team and i did the stone work in the kitchens and some bathrooms, that is. I can tell you every detail of this home is custom crafted and beautifully done. So much skill went into building this house over a 40 year period.

I thought it was just me. I work in interior design and feel it’s way too dark. I think having plenty of natural light and many of the walls lighter would have made a huge difference. I think possibly the owners wanted to stick with an all over medieval theme.

Thanks for your honesty :-) Yes it's a 'new' castle but if you want a castle-like home with all of the modern luxuries, we think they've done a great job. I knew Lantz pretty well as I worked at a club he belonged to. Great guy. It's a beautiful home, but very taste specific. It's not a style that a lot of people would be attracted to. Because of that, it's been for sale for a very long time. Don't get me wrong, it's built to the best standards, but just not a style that attracts a lot of people. Not very many people in America want to live in a castle. If I suddenly had money, I would want to build my dream home, not live in someone else's.

Yes, there seems to be a lot more flexibility in planning rules for properties in the U.S. We love the lakeside setting and even if you didn't like the convenience of hopping off your jetty on to your boat, just sitting there by the firepit, next to the lake in the evening would be heaven.
