Great video Rod and you seem to find the great deals their. I would definitely stay in one of those rooms at that low price and it would give you extra cash to do other things in the Philippines. Thanks for sharing Rod and safe travels to you. I always enjoy your videos 😁
I think very few of these places advertise online so one has to ask around when in a province Paul. Towns like Ubay don't get many tourists and cater to the lower cost needs of local Filipinos.
Great video Rod. Have you bought a 2-2.5L electric Kettle? A small one would work but you would probably have to make hot water twice for a 16L-20L bucket shower. @P50 room charge for hot water, which may or may not be hot in that particular room, the kettle would pay for itself quickly, and you could also make instant soup, coffee or tea. Crazy talk, I know! I do that sometimes. I heat water in my apartment for my bucket shower with a 4L rice cooker, in which I also cook, up to and including baking cakes. P800 vs. whatever it would cost for electric heater and installation...in a place I plan to trade up from. A bargain.
most airbnb places (yes, even airbnb motels) will lend you these if you ask, and for these prices none have kitchenettes but on airbnb they will, or they will lend you kettles, and have a common cooking area.
bottom dollar? $15 per night for aircon and 2 ppl? For that price you can find on airbnb private rooms with private CR with a kitchenette. all these places in this video no kitchenette and you have to travel for food and pay restaurant prices.
If they took out the bed and installed a frame and a hammock, I wouldn't need A/C. In the middle of the night I would turn off the fan even. It's amazing (no pun intended) how cool you stay when 40% of your body isn't pressed against a 100mm/ 4 inch (or thicker) insulating medium like a mattress. Net hammock is awesome, when airflow can reach 100% of your body.
Thanks for the info Rod. I will share my secret against fighting noises in the Philippines.or here in MN. I wear an in ear stereo headset to bed. It fits snug so it cuts out some noise on its own plus I play white noise . So dogs, roosters, tricycles, snoring grirlfriend or wife etc I can sleep through. Takes some getting used to but the ROI is more than worth it :-)
I might have to try that John as noise usually bothers me and keeps me awake. I have earplugs but they are not the most comfortable. Maybe it just takes time to get used to as you say.
I think this 100X better than the motel that I stayed in anaheim,ca ... I paid $60 a night for it & it doesn't have a wifi & it's not that clean too ...
I have stayed in more than a few dumps in the USA also spurskie. There are few options in some of these smaller towns that don't cater to the tourists.
barking dogs is underpaid security guard . to me ,i dont mind the cold shower cuz weather in phils is always close to 40 C so hot ,i just want to have not crowded CR ,and most important to me is no bedbugs..lol
I haven't encountered any bedbugs ruby and I hope I don't. I read that higher priced hotels with more international guests tend to get the bedbugs from peoples luggage.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 thats awesome ,the last time i encounter a" tugho" aka bedbugs 1990s in Mindanao it hides in wooden frame couch(that looks so new) and its so annoying ,i was swollen all over from bites and those bugs are invisible it so hard to fight them
Thanks for all your travelling videos about Bohol. It seems like a nice place to live for those who like smaller cities with less pollution. Can you share your experience about the Internet speeds / reliability on Bohol island?
The internet is getting better but spotty and non-existent in some areas. I carried a pocket wifi from Globe with me and that was better than most provided by hotels.
seb, one thing about bohol, because it's so open, people really drive dangerous. especially on the circumferential road. best to have a car. I gets pretty scary on a motorbike.
Last time I was I manila we stayed across the street from the embassy, at the Bayview Park Plaza. I thought it was quite nice and the breakfast bar was just excellent.
theSTAR70 A little pricey but worth it. Fairly elegant and a bar on each floor, we had a piano bar and singer on the floor I stayed on, but this was years ago. High security. Similar quality to what you’d get in most western high rise hotels.
Many of these smaller towns don't cater to any tourists so this is what we found in town Dennis and it will do for many people after a day of traveling.
Thanks Dan. These towns with few tourists offer a different kind of experience to many western travelers and it works for me although I prefer a warmer shower.
Hey i have stayed there, J & N the beds are really bad, cold water, but right in town, and not far from that place i told you about Kiddies. great value if you dont mind cold showers..
After a long day on the road this is what we found in this town that doesn't see many tourists M D. A bed and a shower would do, even if the shower was a bit on the cool side.
Amazing Philippines: As much I hate the bathroom floor being wet when showering - I had to make my peace with that. Sometimes the cold water is not too bad, especially with the Philippines heat. I had to try using the cold water a few times in Davao City.
The Waterfront Hotel is just across the street from the airport on Mactan Island G MAN and the US Consulate is in the lower level of the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City. You might find some cheaper pension houses online as well. Safe travels.
@@gman8844 Yes, 2. One on Mactan Island across from the airport and 1 in Cebu City near IT Park and not far from Ayala Mall. There may be others in the Philippines as well but not sure.
that looks pretty shady to me haha cheap yes but didn't see any lock box ect. beds way too small don't any hotels have queen or king size beds to rent? I'm super tall 6 feet 6 I need a big bed haha that bathroom was flooded lol. ....Not my style Id pay more for comfort lol. but nice if you like small rooms in a little town.
Many of these smaller province towns have few options Michael so you have to take what is available. Ubay doesn't get many tourists so they cater more to the locals.
