I purchased the GoolRC Waterproof 3660 3800KV Brushless Motor with the 60A ESC Combo and it's been working great in my RC-10 B3! It does have an erratic punch just like yours but like you I haven't tried to change it yet! Thanks for posting!

I've got the Surpass Hobby 3300KV 60A version of this combo in what was originally meant to be a crawler build, but has turned into a mud truck with some crawling ock bouncing ability and some serious speed for a 2S non LCG truck. Was out running it a couple days ago with the AliExpress knockoff Jconcepts 2.2 Ruptures on it and was super happy with the performance. A little cogging down low on medium punch, but turned down to low almost no cogging. I haven't tried high yet as it's already pissed off my slipper clutch and I don't have any spare pads to swap out right now. By God it got buried up to the axles in mud at low speed and dug its way out once I gave it the beans. I thought I was in for a climb into a canal to retrieve it, lol.

Threw a 3800kv gool setup in a mud truck.... It survived several drowning incidents, and filled with mud a few times. This was 4 years ago. At least at that time it actually did remarkably well. But that esc doesn't look like what I got back then.

IF ur using a digital tx, for now, turn ur forward throttle expo up to 100% to make forward MORE sensitive. SHOULD get rid of the take off lag. Least til u get ur program box/card.

Tried a $40 brushless system once. It worked good until the esc started shooting flames out of the side! The Napa store where I was at smelled like burnt electronics for a month. The truck still has the smell 2 years later 😂

I bought the Surpass Hobby Platinum 3200kv combo a few years ago. ESC didn't last long but the motor lasted like 2 years in my Tamiya Bush Devil with "hot" gearing.

I tried the esc in a Slash and melted it the first run, but the motor still works. With electronics and batteries you get what you pay for...unless it's Traxxas. With Traxxas you just get a good one or you replace it with a Hobbywing or a Castle but that's part of the hobby. I did have a very new, 3 runs, Spektrum 6s esc burn out in a Fireteam but they are usually more reliable so it is what it is.

I've had three of these cheap combos. All of them cog really bad and all of them the esc went up in smoke. I did find if I changed out the bullet connectors between the motor and esc it seemed to help with the cogging a bit.

Got this setup last year,mine rips!!! In a 2wd slash that rides wheelies all the way down the road. You definitely need the program card,ii is set up for soft launch out of the box.

I have this system in my redcat blackout. 19t pinion does the chug chug at first. The screws stripped out on the esc so cleaning it out sucks. I have ran the truck for about an hour straight on 2s no problem. i added a heatsink and dual fan to the motor. my only problem with it was they didnt send me the program card. the paper in the box said to use an 8t pinion 🤣

Probably need to gear down for paddle tires. Assuming that combo is at most 40 amps amd not very robust. Will be interesting to see how well it performs with the punch turned up, and your second jump fixed.

I have a 3 of these. It’s a common issue. Sometimes if you punch it from a dead stop there is a few seconds delay before it takes off. It happens to 2 of the 3 that I have. The motors are solid. ESC sucks.

Punch on the gool RC ESC are turned right down so you can run them on classic RC cars without destroying gear boxes. I have lots of them in my old Tamiya cars

Take off is set on medium. When you get the program card and readjust it it will take off alot better.

These motors and esc’s are pretty good for the money but they do cog. Even when you set the punch to a higher setting they still have some cog but for 40 bucks ya can’t go wrong

Take off punch is probably turned down to keep guys from busting stuff up or killing the motor or esc

Can´t say for the cheap esc´s, but surpass hobby rocket V2 brushless motor has been great for me, might be worth checking out. got the 4250kv on 4s only in sand + a copperhead, great stuff and on the "cheaper" side

4000+kv on 4s sounds like a recipe for really high temps! Have you checked your temperature on that setup during a run?

It is an unsensored system so, likely cogging. Gearing down will solve the problem and keep the heat in check. No doubt, adjusting the esc will yield good results as well. All said and done, it is a $40 system 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you use name brand esc the motor will run really good. I have one with traxxas esc and I have drove it for 2hrs. Straight

A lot of people getting these systems don't know how to tune to the specifications given by the manufacturer so they think they can get a cheap system and try and pull a 120 amps through an 80 amp chip. So when they say 4000 kv they don't mean a 3665 4 pole 4200 kv motor... that'll fry it immediately.

The ESc's all fail and pop in the same place. Run on 2S or if you run 3S run very conservative gearing so low amp draw. Motors are better than the ESC's

Those motor shafts are WEAK.!! I bought 2 of those motors & both shafts snapped fairly quickly. They made decent power before that though, for a cheapo that is. The ESCs are not great in my experience either. I'd advise paying a bit more for a Hobbywing ESC (£35-£70) & going for a Surpass Hobby KK series motor, I've had really good luck with Surpass motors, I've had a few of the KK 3660 & 3670 ones for years now & apart from replacing the bearings they've been solid.! I've also got a Surpass Rocket 4282 & a 4292 motor & I'm very impressed with those. The 3660 KKs go for £18 ish & the Rockets go from £45 to £60

you dont have to worry about the temperatures of the electronics, except you really try to roast them. A normal brushless esc can take 115 C ( around 250-300 F) without a problem, and can normally go to 125C before it dies, and a good brushless motor can take up to 200C (around 400F or more ), so dont worry about the temperatures. (btw i tried this myself, i could melt my cars body on the motor, and it still runs after years of driving like this!)

I know you didn't ask for my input, but I'll share anyways, lol, I have a Rustler that I put a Bandit body & wing on, it handles better with the Rustler suspension & tires, and I like the look of the buggy body. I got the purple & teal body from Jenny's RC and it looks great in person! You do have to drill holes into the rear shock tower to accept the wing wire mount, you will see two flat spots on the topside where they line up with the wing wire, they don't include those holes on the Rustler because it's not needed with the Rustler body 🍻
