I've had mine for 4 years now! After going through turnoments, brackish water, being dropped in and out of water, it's a tank! Can't beat the price! The only thing about it that I don't like, is that I can't find it anywhere anymore, on line or in stores!🤔
I just got the silver max. It's my first baitcaster and so far I think it's ok. I'm still learning so I can't say much about it. However it helped me nab my very first bass along with using a wacky rig and a yum dinger on Monday! Which btw thank you for the videos and helping me learn how to fish! Without your videos I wouldn't have figured out how to do these things! Your videos are a great learning tool! Thanks again!
Thanks for the video Realistic. I grabbed this combo over a month ago for the same price at Dicks. It was my first baitcaster and so far I like. I’ve only used it once with zero fish yet, but I’m still getting the hang of things. I’m glad I found your channel man, I really appreciate the content you put out. You’ve got a new subscriber.
I love these kinds of videos. So many people are hung up on expensive brand names. I'd rather have two less expensive combos than only one really expensive combo.
I agree! Have you ever knocked a rod off the edge of the boat? Slammed a rod in the door of the truck? Or had something happen when you were bank fishing and had to drop your stuff and run? Yea... me too. My current "Trusty Rusty" is a Zebco Protege bait caster on an H2O Express Delta.... got $40 wrapped up in it including line.
I like to get the Cabelas branded rods and reels. Lifetime no hassle guarantee. I've already had to swap 2 of my Tournament ZX rods from breaking the eyelets. (My fault not manufacturer) I spent a little more on them but I'll never have to worry about buying another one.
I'm not rich but my go to rod is a G.Loomis jig/worm rod with a Shimano reel. The rod is probably 15-18 years old.. I feel light bites on that rod that I wouldn't on a cheaper one..It's paid for itself many times over... The cheaper stuff still works but until you try an expensive, sensitive rod, you won't know what I'm talking about.. I wouldn't have paid full price.. It's a $400 rod.. Dicks had it marked wrong at about $225 and I paid less on sale...
That's a great deal. I bought 2 of them last year for the 79$ price. Zero complaints with reel. But the rod cost me the reel on 1st cast. Which dicks replaced it no problem. The problem is the reel seat on the those rods. If you over tighten them the glue which holds the seat to the rod will give way. But i still use the one that didn't break all the time.
I have 2 of them rods in 7 foot paired up with some lews reels and I've never had a problem with them the last few years I've had them. Good rods in my opinion.
Have been been fishing the same pond for several years and only that pond, I find the fish are almost always there. Occasionally, they move away from their normal spots but that's rare. If they are active, you can catch them on almost anything. If they're not active, it takes patience, persistence, and you have to try different lures and patterns. That's when you really learn about fishing.
I got the 7ft pro Max combo this past Christmas and I really like it for the price. I need to look into this combo as I would enjoy a shorter rod for bank fishing in tighter locations. Great video
same set up i own bro!!!! i did snap the tip easily but, no hassle return and replacement and been working like a charm since. reel is pretty dam smooth for the money. its really just a good all around rod. caught my biggest bass on it. 4.62
This spring I broke down and bought the Abu Garcia Black Max combo from Walmart. I have only used spin reels so this combo opens up a whole new world for me. I have not got the casting of the reel down yet but I am getting better. Cant wait to catch my first Bass on it. Question, why don't you use Braid on yours? I don't think I have seen others us mono or floro exclusively only as a leader.
Nice video as always!! I've never had good luck with the vengence rods. I've had 3 and the longest one lasted was 3 weeks. The first one broke 4 hours into a fishing trip on a hook set.. the first 2 eyes came off the rod. The replacement last all of one cast and broke an inch below the end and the 3rd I threw in the lake after hearing a crack
Been itching to go wet a line in that cove you're at after all this rain. The bass oughta be pushing back up into the cove and that creek mouth with the higher water. Maybe this weather will cool the water down to bring the bait fish back to the shallows? In fact, last time I was there (a month or so ago), those patches of grass that you were catching them near were only a few inches deep, at best.
Yes, Alex, all is well. I been traveling to different piers out of state, but I do look at all the new videos you post, even if I don't comment, but I do like. I really loved the catfish vids. Keep them coming and thanks for all the great information! TIGHT LINES and KEEP IT REALISTIC!!! : )
The Vengeance rod is a good mid-level rod. I have three that I use regularly. None of them have failed in any way and they have pretty good feel when using a Texas rigged worm on the bottom. I have one finesse rod that costs twice as much. It is certainly a better rod but it is not two times better.
The quality of the lower priced gear seems to have really improved, great for beginners, or folks that don't fish often, but they seem to handle regular use well also.
lost an 8 pounder on a rick clunn squarebill today(series 3). I am thinking about sending you one to try it out, they are by far my favorite crankbaits and I don't know anyone else that uses them.
The rod is the best part of your combo. I have one of those rods in a 7ft and it has great backbone. The reel has a lot to be desired, but for 40$ I can't argue.
@@RealisticFishing This is only my experience. The one I had I purchased 2yrs ago for 99 as a combo. The rod is great and still have it today. The reel spooled unevenly and made a horrible sound after 50 or so casts.
to be honest, this reel sounds better than anything i've heard from you through the earbuds on my iphone. Sounds very smooth on the cast. Your usual equipment is noisier..
Had a vengeance rod for a bit. Had issues with the eye of the pole. Could have been a one off. Awesome deal tho for the combo. Sucks you had to do order online just to get them to honor the price but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
I have the AG Vengeance spinning rod and love it. You can’t beat it as a $40 combo! I think I paid $60 at the time just for the rod! Great vid as always!
Nice combo for a great price! I have an abu Garcia black max that I got at Walmart for like 40 bucks I think, I'm going to take it out and give it a try tomorrow! I'm going to try fishing it with a jerkbait my wife got me for Christmas last year, never used a jerkbait before, so never caught one on a jerkbait before, but why not... might as well give it a go! Also learning how to use a baitcaster as well, I just spooled it up with some leftover braided line I had lying around.
I currently use a Vengeance rod as well, I have a Diawa megaforce 150i reel, it has 3 bearings. Would moving up to a reel with 6 bearings be a huge improvement?
Just picked up this combo . It didn't show the sale price at the store that was listed in the sales flyer, but when I asked for a price check it was on sale for $40 so I got it . Seems to cast smooth with high dollar 12 pound p-line floroclear .
I just picked that deal up as I wanted to experiment as my first bait caster ever. I like it but that's a biased opinion since I don't have any other baitcaster to compare it to. Tight lines Brother
@@RealisticFishing that's for sure Brother. Thanks so much for all your videos. I've learned a lot from you and I also keep realistic. Birds of the same feather flock together.
another great video I got that same deal on the combo so far its been awesome however keep an eye on the tension knob mine fell off keep on keeping on!
I'd keep the ultra max on it, just because it has a massive 19 pounds of drag!!! (Just to put it into prospective, the Penn 309 has 15 pounds of drag!) But you can't go wrong with ither!👍
Seems like a great combo at a great price I got 2 abu garcia black maxx combos and I love them! They are cheaper combos but work just as good as others
I have the Vengeance paired with my KastKing Spartacus.. It's great. Then I have the Abu Garcia black max with cherrywood combo, another great set up!! Awesome vid as usual!
Finally bought my first abu, a Revo X and the crank handle broke the first day. I'm gonna switch it out for one of these and save some cash. Thanks man.
Always love your videos , you always show real life fishing for everyone to see , keep it realistic . And i hope you lime the ABU , me and my son have ABU BAITCASTERS AND OPEN REELS LOVE THE QUALITY FOR. Good price
I like medium heavy for weedless rigs to get that leverage on the hookset. I like medium for cranks and baits with exposed hooks. Its really up to you.
Forgot to mention I own an older Abu revo sx, Abu Orra, Abu winch for cranking. All baitcasters and they have performed really well. You got a great deal on that combo.
I have the same combo and I love it only complaint is the inner guide on the tip always brakes and falls out after 3 times I said the hell with it and have been fishing with out it for over a year
@@RealisticFishing I have actually had 3 of the rods maybe it was a bad batch idk but the inner guide would crack in two but I use braid so it does not affect me still a great combo also love my
Good video. I have been looking at that combo as a second baitcaster( my first was a black max reel on a 7ft mh vengeance rod) but I’m thinking I’d like a higher speed reel. Do you have any higher speed reels? What do you think of them? Keep up the good work
i got this deal ad emailed to me the other day. i bought a vengeance 7"0 M to pair with my silver max in DEC. payed 49.99 for just the rod in December, nice find. love my vengeance, great t-rig rod.
Great video! If you are open for suggestions, you could do a Shakespear micro series rod and reel combo challenge. They sell these at walmart for like $17 and come pre spooled with 4lb test. The challenge would be to catch the smallest fish you can with said combo. Lures are completely up to your imagination. I've had success with that set up using # 12 size hooks and bread as bait. Keep it realistic! 👍

I love seeing when he does cast after cast after cast and finally the camera rolls that’s when you know he’s got a fish! Love the vids brotha keep em coming and I’d be the first paying customer for the bumper sticker!!
After watching this video for a 3rd time, I’ve decided to go ahead and get this combo, both the spinning and casting .. I Absolutely love the rod, the feel is great, nice grips, light weight .. thanks for the video man
Nice set. I was thinking of getting the exact same from them for my wife ( SO I CAN HAVE A NEW COMBO) I was also thinking of maybe matching it with a Ugly Stick to see how I like it that way,
@@RealisticFishing my ugly stik gx2 casting an spinning are both fast action. Their a little heavier than other rods but seem much stronger an pretty sensitive.
Realistic Fishing I dont know... She has a Abu Garcia Abumatic SX Spincast Reel on a Ugly stick GX2 but I have no idea what the action etc, is.. I guess I better check out in the garage and see and let you know. I know she picked it out at Wallyworld and got the smaller reel because it fit her smaller hands.
Would you reccommend i pair the abu garcia vengeance with the abu garcia silver max as my first baitcaster? im 13, and i like fishing...thinking about getting my first baitcaster for christmas. (6.6" model)
So, I ordered this and it arrived last Thursday, turns out it never arrived with the reel! Called up a manager and we talked a bit - finally, he offered to apply a 'similar discount' to another combo. Long story short, I got the Lew's Mach Crush for 50% off :D, can you do a video on that combo, please?
I had a Pro Max reel that I was really fond of. I was fishing last week, had two rods and reels. I broke off a little swimbait I was fishing with the Pro Max, so I sat it down a sec and finished the rest of that little bank section with a squarebill. Came back and my rod and reel were gone. Unbelievable. It was never out of sight, 20 yards tops away. Just like that someone hopped out and took off with it.
I saw bluegill bait walking on your hand while you are trying to setup your new reel, someone always trying to be in your videos. LOL! Those some skinny bass.
I just bought that same combo today. I guess I should have done some research before getting all excited about it and buying it online! But anyway, I'm glad I didn't make a bad investment. Thanks so much man! I can't wait to get out there and try it out!
Nice looking combo Alex By the way I picked up several packs of KVD Ochos at Academy for $0.98 a pack. Just thought I would let you know your store may have marked down some stuff too. 👊👍
Nice combo man, sounds nice and smooth casting.never used that model but own the black max and I really like it for the price and also nice catch, keep it realistic!
@@RealisticFishing yeah that is pretty awesome, love everything about the show keep it up, I can really relate to the concept of what you do which is real life fishing and way more people can relate to this compared to big Bass boat's and all the other nonsense.. keep it realistic!!
Looking to purchase my first bait caster. Does it matter which side the handle is on? I am a righty and it looks like I would want to have the handle on the left side. Any thought?
Whatever is most comfortable for you. I am righty and fish all my reels right hand retrieve. I was taught to reel in your fastest hand. I have plenty of speed in my left arm to set the hook.
I've got a quantum nitrous and have zero complaints so far. It's not as full featured as some of the most expensive reels but it's smooth enough and casts well.
@@donnie017 thanks Donnie. I am going to get it today . gonna try to find a good stiff rod for it . so I can have a frog fishing pole. Appreciate the help.
@@RealisticFishing I got the Abu Garcia Max Z on sale this summer for $49 and I believe it's about the same thing. My 16 year old son used it all summer and it works better now than when I first got it. Keep it oiled and they seem to get better with age.
Bro awesome you included the line you use thank you very much. Another awesome video I have had luck recently with texas rig. Grateful for you videos bruh!! Hey also meant to ask have you ever tried bass pro shop stick o worms? Seem like a good deal 30 for 10 bucks.
