Gotta love Heathkit, I have a Heathkit SB-200 and the SB-220 The Ham radio Gods were flying High when those were made a reality. If iam not mistaken, Yeasu made a "Station monitor" The YT-60 or something like that?.
Didn't need another one but at that price it was good for a parts chassis, or so I thought. Not going to part it out now since all it needed was a fuse. Back on the hunt for a true parts chassis. Just can't seem to get parts rigs anymore. Everything I buy recently seems to work. Not that I'm complaining. :)
Works that way at time. At least you saved it from parting out. That's a good thing. Been hunting for some 101 chassis board connectors. all week. Missed a set that went real cheap. No way am I going to pay 90 bucks for them. I have got to get some card connectors made so I can get back on the 101 series. Have some good plans for the videos.Agree it is hard to pass up a deal like this.
+The Radio Shop Could get a set out of one of my parts chassis. Might be a day or so. Think their at the bottom of a pile and 3 rows in. Have to check my inventory location list. Didn't you need some other stuff, covers and knobs?
Hi Mike, That's a great find! I have one for my HW101, but I haven't used it in years.😅 I think I just might bring out the old girl and restore it this winter.
Really awesome score Mike. Lusted over these for years but people were always asking stupid amounts of money for them Now using an old Tektronix TDS 2002 50 MHz digital scope for my station monitor. Works fantastic, but does not have the Heathkit "cool" factor.
Picked up TWO of these at the Ham Fest. Paid $12 Bucks each. In near perfect condition cosmetically and both working fine. Will replace the caps before putting it into full time service.
nothing IMO beats the look of Heathkit. I really like the US tank color of most of their equipment. nice find. good deal on not smoking anymore. I too smoked. nasty habit. especially once one's quit. one suddenly notices how nasty of a habit it is. not to mention the health issues. tty soon my friend.
I picked up a SB-614 a while back. Ebay, stated to be non-working. Can't remember what I paid for it, but I think it was more than $28. Haven't even cracked it open yet to see wassup with it. Maybe after watching your vid I'll be motovated to get to it before the week is out. I figure if the CRT is good, that's good enough for me. Wish me luck. :-)
very nice barn find. at least it's not as nasty as my golden eagle mark 2 looked like when i got it, darn thing must have sat in a garage for decades i'm still cleaning it up, the fuse holder crumbled, caps broken, it has (mike fix me) written all over it ;-p~ 73's from k7sce
Oh dear! I have a station-monitor too (a kit too, not Heath...can't recall the brand) from a similar vintage. Works a treat, but the 'rubber' sleeve that holds the CRT to the front panel has just shrunk! I have no idea what plastic this is...but it is now some 15 % smaller than it originally was! I turned two Delrin rings to secure it, but I'd love to be able to make something that looks more like that original sleeve. Anybody any ideas? Cheers Paddy
TBC concentrated cleaner. If you want one that is NSF certified the Big Red cleaner is a great cleanee. The TBC is a slightly stronger cleaner than Big Red. Big Red is safe for use on anything not harmed by water. Can't say I have found anything harmed by the TBC cleaner. Dilution is a couple tablespoons cleaner mixed with water in a spray bottle. For heavier soil like oil and degreasing mix it a little stronger.
+Dino Papas You won't find them in stores. They are a industrial/commercial lubricants and maintenance products company and sell direct from the plant in Ft. Worth, TX (yes some things are still made here in the US). At one time I was a sales rep for them. www.texasrefinery.com/products/cleaning-products/tbc-concentrate/
