Great review. I tried the PX7's last night and they do have an Ambient mode. They call it ‘Ambient Pass-Through’ Mode. You can activate it by clicking the NC button the left ear cup for 2 seconds or via the App. You can also select how much of the sound you want to Pass-through via the app. Thought i should let you know and you can update accordingly.
Does the sound quality deteriorate significantly while using active noise cancellation? If it does, do they still sound better than the Bose 700 while using anc?
No, you pay $400 for headphones because they SOUND good! It's about the sound. Build quality obviously has a bearing, but that is NOT why we pay that much for expensive cans.
Well, when u consider good sound, u wouldnt spend 400 dol for any of these headphones. For such price there is a lot more better sounding products BUT WIRED:) At the moment bluetooth headphones still cant compete with traditional wired ones in sound quality department.
My sennheisers arrived today. Holy fuck. They are the best headphones I've ever heard. And the latest firmwares have improoved the anc, the eq, the app in general and a lot of shit. 10/10
Without sounding stupid how would these headphones compare to the high end grado/ focal headphones or even the mid range grado ones in terms and of sound quality
I had the PX and can confirm the huge hit ANC has on sound quality when active; the review is 100% correct in this. Such a shame as the overall sound quality when turned off was a lot better than the QC35MK2 and the Sony 1000XM3 (haven’t tried the Bose 700s). I just sold up and am gonna grab the Sennheiser M3 next as I need the APTX LL in order to use them as a gaming headset alongside ModMic and APTX LL transmitter. I got really fed up having so many dedicated headphones/headsets that sit idle most of the time (have SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless and the audio quality is trash for the price).
i tried all the anc headphones, i ended up getting the nennheiser momentum 3 for the sound quality and the bass really it is much clearer sound. The construction is not even talked about, but my biggest negative point is that there are no clicks in the band, so the ear cups run on that track.
Cost. AptX was developed by Qualcomm who own all the rights to it. In order for a manufacturer to use AptX in their headphones they have to pay Qualcomm licencing fees.
I have the px7 and have heard the 700s. Momentum 3 sounds the best when adjusting the eq slider slightly down and to the right. The bass, midrange, and treble is best.
@@Arearetee I'm not sure. Never heard the M3 at 100%. Got to around 90% and it was significantly louder than I can stand (some tracks). Tbh I think the px7 are only ok sounding (not great). I heard they sound better with anc off but I never tried it that way.
@@h1a8 Even with their anc off. The sound is just not satisfying compared for example, to the older model px. Sound quality wise they're great but just because of how low their peak volume is, that itself just makes it a pass for me on them. I actually was returning them at bestbuy when I received your message. Thanx for your reply. Totally agree with you.
I made the mistake of getting the Sony wh1000mx3’s, for all of you considering them I HIGHLY recommend steering clear from them. They are garbage quality compared to the 700’s. But now I am left to question, of the 700’s and the bowers Wilkins, which one is the better overall headphones? I want sound quality, and noise cancelling.
If you’re not a basshead get the bowers. Noise cancelling is almost as good as the Bose but sound much better. I’ve used the Bose QC-35 II and Sennheiser Momentum 3. I love the latter for the bass. I have also used the Bowers and Wilkins PX. They sound loud and have great instrument separation but they don’t have much bass. Noise cancelling was also not great and had too much clamping force.
When it comes to design I don't want to look like an old school radio. RIP momentum's I don't want to walk out wearing a brain machine. RIP PX7 I don't want to look like an alien. RIP nc 700. 😂😂
This is the most complete and neutral review on the youtube because on others its feels some personal preferences of the brands. I can only agree with everything in this review! Thank you so much for information especially about the sound because its the most important i think 👍
Does anyone have the problem with the Bose where it indicates you only have 16 hours of battery life instead of 20 hours after a full charge and when the update is being released to fix this issue
Opinions vary greatly on sound, but I have the 700s and SM3, and had the PX7. I returned the PX7 in favor of the SM3. The 700s are best for NC and calls, this is pretty much undisputed by most, but the Sennheisers are best for overall sound, which can be tweaked in the app as desired. They are also the loudest. As far as separation, soundstage, width, etc., I’d say that they are on par with the PX7, but certainly do not fall behind as described here... and yes, the bass, particularly the sub bass, kicks hard if you want it to... In my OPINION, the SM3 for the win in overall sound quality, and 700s for the other stuff. The PX7 as compared... meh!
What about noise leakage? I have found Bose tend to leak like a sieve. Very annoying to colleagues in the office. I use B&W which have much lower sound leakage.
Hello again, just want to let U know that I just bought PX7's ,couldn't resist the sound quality, so right now I own B&W PX(gold), PX7(grey) and Bose NC 700 and Galaxy Buds (both black). Super happy! My top is: Bose NC 700-most pleasure ones, everyday usage and overall hapiness, NC from another dimension. B&W PX7- crazy sound, they really delivers and this bad ass look when you have them on the table in space grey... Galaxy Buds- cheap and still great every day companions , puts smile on my face every time I take them outside. B&W PX- uncomfortable and too detailed sound, crazy precision but not good for old 90's songs from spotify but WoW- what a design! These could be the last Tip Top manufactured headphones ever. Real skin, ballistic nylon, magnets in earpads, hard case from leather ( v2 version ). Peace!
@Aravind Gurrala Honestly- I use them only for music, they are too uncomfortable for movies .For gaming purposes with my X box One X, I have to use cable so I cannot tell if there is any latency.
I think imma have to go with the momentum’s because they look super cool to me and the sound quality isn’t that worse compared to the px7. I also have a good deal on the momentum’s to that’s what I’ll go with
@@ok.6539 Yeah, I think they really are worth it for the superior sound quality. Owning them for one year, they are in great condition and a pleasure to listen to. ANC is also pretty awesome. However, if you are low of cash, you might wanna go for Sony's XM4s.
@@arrow82roc Thanks for answering. I found PX7s on sale for exactly as much as XM4s cost, so considering what you said and other reviews ive read and heard, im gonna go for PX7s.
How hard is it to charge every other day or so? 15-17 hours is likely sufficient for most people. Just charge them when you charge your phone. Small price for the superb sound quality.
Thanks a lot for this review ! May I ask if you 've noticed a better battery life on the PX7, than the PX ;-) And what are, for you, the main reason to upgrade from the PX to the PX7 ... Thx
which is more comfortable for listening a long time? I need something to be on my head for hours while I detail cars. Most ear pads make my ears sweat after 1-2 hours...
Awesome review; I’ve been interested in all three of these headphones I ordered the Sennheiser momentum 3’s last night at Best Buy supposed to be picking them up today. I Am most interested in sound quality I listen to music and watch movies on my 43 inch Monitor while sitting at my desk in my office at home and that’s the only place I use headphones at all. I really have no interest in active noise canceling And would keep it shut off all the time anyways, I also charge my headphones right at the desk so it’s no problem for me if I need to charge them every day I’ll plug them in at night. I really don’t want anything black in my office otherwise I would’ve got the Bowers and Wilkins PX7 if they came in white I would have been sold on them but I’m still tempted because of the sound quality.
Overall I'd buy Bose. For sound only I'd buy Sennheiser but all in all if you want bass and good ANC save some money and get the Sony's. B&W just don't cut it.
The Boses really don't look out they have good build quality... It's a shitty plastic casing and the band connecting the headphones to the head band is so thin, doesn't give me much confidence that they'll last.
That's a real shame about the PX7's and their tight fit, I've had the P5 back in the day and they sounded great but after an hour or so my head felt like someone has been slowly putting rubber bands around it, waiting for it to pop.
I personally have to COMPLETELY DISAGREE with this for the PX7s....I have a VERY wide head, and I have no problem using these for upwards of 6 hours at a time. The earcups both tilt vertically and rotate horizontally, as well as having ample padding on the headband, plus the earcups are larger. If you adjust them PROPERLY, you will never notice the slight increase in weight. To ADD to the disagreement with this review, the PX7s frame is made of carbon-fibre, NOT PLASTIC, so it's VERY flexible. Regarding sound, the PX7s have the most wide soundstange of the three, and the imaging is far more precise....HOWEVER, unlike the original PX, the PX7s, they are actually W-shaped...FURTHERMORE, AGAIN DISAGREEING with the reviewer, you VERY MUCH DO FEEL the bass thumping in your head!! Finally, yes, they are a little bulky, but they also have a bulky, solid carry case. The ANC on the PX7s is PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE on it's high mode, and I've used it on a longhaul flight, before the world went to crap!
@@Dozeball I'm in the same boat. I've got a head like a mailbox and I haven't had any issues wearing the PX7's for hours. Also weird that the review flat out got the material of the chassis completely wrong. It's carbon fiber composite. You ain't gonna be breaking the frame of the PX7's anytime soon.
I tried all 3 of them and in terms of a sound B&W for me always. I dont care for ANC. And when you connect them to pc or dac they are much better than the other 2. And battery life on my px7's lasted me 2 weeks now. I am listening about 1.30 h a day. Mostly without anc
@@sinetwo its helpful when i go to work. I use it only in public transportation and to show off the feature to people. I mean it's cool and staff but i prefer sound quality over anything else
I am like you and prefer the best sound quality possible. However the way i went about using my $450 budget was different. At home i use the Sennheiser HD 6xx. These are arguably one of the best sounding headphones under $1000 and they only cost $200. With the remaining $250 i bought a Sony 1000 Xm3s from ebay in brand new condition. The sonys compared to the momentums and px7s cannot compete sound quality wise. However their anc performance is unlike any other.
@@sydbailey1320 im almost in the same bucket. I've got the hd650s at home, but use bose qc25ii at work, and I've not used their anc since the batteries died 😂 I need a new pair of ANCs definitely.
need help... i hear music like Angerfist but also Frank Sinatra and want a good ambient mode... i can't decide between Bose NC 700 or Sennheiser Momentum 3. So i actually want to feel the bass (where the Sennheiser are better as u said) but i also like the touchpad and 10 stages Ambient mode+micro from the Bose. Sad story is that u can't play ur own Music on Bose Display models in stores here so i have absolutly no clue how the bass is on the Bose
I have to question the touch control design. Is there a problem with buttons breaking or getting gunky? If no, then of course buttons are easier to actuate.
Yes Edon. I don't know about the other two, but I own Sennheiser Momentum 3 and when I run out of battery, I connect them to my laptop to charge while still listening to music or whatever.
I have the PX7 and i like how they sound. So far, the soundstage is pretty good and the ANC is superb. Im also interested in acquiring the M3 but i travel a lot and when in the airport and not listening, its usually around my neck. The only issue i have with M3, is the way to turn off the headphones is to fold it. Cant do that when its around my neck. I also heard that you can disable this feature...can you confirm this? Thank you
Hey can you check the last update to the Sony wh-1000xm3? Mine seems that the audio improved slightly and the problem with the noice cancelling with the 4.1.1 is gone 🤔 . Keep up with the awesome videos, always a must to see before considering buying a new pair.
I have the px7, but I cant get the codecs to work. When I choose optional codecs, they loose All sound. So i am forced to use a $400 with SBC. I thought it was because of my old oneplus 3t so i decided to buy the new 7t pro. But it is still the same...
I have the same problem with my 7t Pro. It appears from replies by B&W on the OnePlus forums that the 7t Pro isn't officially supported yet. Users have reported the beta on the regular 7 Pro fixes the issue and supports Aptx Adaptive properly. Hopefully the fix arrives on the 7t Pro soon. For now you can force Aptx HD in developer options.
Super review, but Px7 sound worse to me than m3. Bass kills middle tones in some songs. The sound stage is amazing, but for me M3 has a better sound signature.
Was on the fence between the PX7 and M3. Realized that the dealbreaker for me was the lack of voice assistant. It made no sense for me to be using these wireless without my phone nearby and not being able to listen to a random song of my choice on a whim. I do value battery life but the positive is that if needed, I can listen AND charge with a USB-C cord. Also, your description of hearing the bass (PX7) and feeling the bass (M3) is a big deal to me. I'm not a huge basshead but would prefer that aspect over a wider soundstage.
Each set comes with caveats. The Momentums are supposedly the best sounding but lack of enough NC is a deal breaker. Tight fit on PX7s? Ugh. There's really no all encompassing choice.
Momentums have NC and once you have music playing you aren't gonna hear the background. I have the sennheiser 4.50 which are a much cheaper version and their anc is just ok, but once the music is on its fine. Only super loud areas does the best possible anc matter.
