As a Cracker Barrel employee I thank you for sharing our Take Home meals and giving it an honest review. We have so much negative press going on around our company right now, it’s refreshing to have someone say good things about us and our food! I have never purchased the take home meals before, but definitely will the next time I get a chance. It would be good to bring home a meal or two for my husband when I’m too tired to cook dinner.
I have a long-lost question. No offensive or hateful thoughts occurred in this comment. Do they hire people of colour? I was just wondering because of their past feeling about them.
@PolishedAfterSixtyYvette our Cracker Barrel said they will -you don’t even have to buy any meals and they’ll sell you as many of them and you want. But from what I understand each Cracker Barrel can enforce or be as lenient as they want. So you would have to call the one near you and check with them.
I bought a me a l one time. It was overcooked and dried out. Did not taste good. Will ever do that again. It was notfresh. Tasted like they're heated it.
When my grandson was in high school, college, & law school , he was a server at Cracker Barrel. He worked there 10 years & wherever he went to school, they transferred him from restaurant to restaurant. They are not only a great restaurant, they are good to their employees. Grandson is now a Public Defender in Fort Lauderdale,FL ❤
Any way you spin it, $5 for a simple quick meal is a deal. This is fantastic for Seniors or people can not get out but have friends or family that eat at CB and don't mind bringing a meal home to them. ...or just eat it all yourselves..it's so good lol
I’m pretty sure we would take one $5 meal & make it dinner for two by opening some green beans & making the meatloaf into sandwiches. I love the idea of these meals!
My husband and I fill up fast ( due to late middle age I guess? ) So I'd take that first meal and give him the bigger slice of the meat loaf, ( he likes that more than me ) and add a can of green beans and a salad and we'd split that. In part, that's how we paid off our new retirement house 14 years early! We were always on the poor side of things but with meal stretching we formed good money saving habits. Yummy.
For us seniors. Those look almost like they could be two meals. I keep salad stuff in my fridge. Frozen and canned veggies. So would be pretty easy to add a veggie and one of those would make two meals for me. I do this at Olive Garden as well. They have a similar type offering with Italian food.
Went to Olive Garden last week and took home the ziti $6 meal. I split it between my mother and myself it was more than enough for both of us and was really tasty.
Like everything: microwaving the meals, talking together, comments about the flavor and texture of the food, seeing the fur babies. Everything was cozy and felt like home. 🩷
This is Bonnie. Many years ago I worked at CB. The food is top notch and fresh. The kitchen is always clean. My favorite was the steak filets on biscuits. Also the hash brown casserole is another favorite. No instant foods. Some biscuit makers were better than others and could make a nice fluffy biscuit and others not so much. Always eat at Cracker Barrel.
These are an amazing, affordable option for so many people. I work with patients who don't have the strength or finances to cook. These are cheaper and more filling than most frozen TV dinners.
Oh i loved this videos you could get 12 dinners and freeze them and have one dinner per day for 12 days at a price of $60 this is perfect for seniors who don't want to cook everyday
Look at the portion size of those meals! There’s enough food to stretch it over the course of a day or 2. Particularly, if you add a veggie and if you don’t have a big appetite, which most of our Seniors do not. These foods are probably not the healthiest, “true,” but, maybe there are healthier options to choose from at CB. Nonetheless, in this world where food insecurity abounds it’s nice to know that places like Cracker Barrel and IHOP, who offers coupons for BOGO meals, are making a generous effort so others can have a decent meal to eat at a low or even no cost to the customer. What a way to help those in need. I Salute These Companies for their Impact in our Communities...❤
I live in Virginia and there isn’t a Cracker Barrel near us however, Olive Garden offers 7 different meals that are also $5 and I have been purchasing them for the past two years for myself and my husband as well as my son for lunch at work. It is a great concept for the restaurant chain to make additional money and it comes in the size of a regular meal and it’s filling.
Just found your channel and love it. My husband and I are seniors and this would be a cool idea since we eat out occasionally and love Cracker Barrel. Thanks so much and God bless.
I've been doing this for almost a year....up to six meals a week. I am a senior I can't make it at home for $5 and it's healthy food. Btw in case you didn't know....even if you order a kids meal you can add on the take home meals. Super good deals.
@@amandamuzyka3704 I get curbside pickup. I order a kid's meal and then a take home meal. It's between 10-11$ for two meals. I can't buy the groceries to make it for that cheap.
Monday to Saturday, i cook my 1 meal per day food. Sunday i go pick any food i want to eat I follow keto diet and cooking my meal gives me a lot of control on the quality and also i save a lot and eating right. Thank you for this 5 dollars meal...looks really yummy.
Thanks this is so cool to know. I live right by a Cracker barrel. Hmmm go eat breakfast a couple times a week and get meals for 5 bucks, that's a cool deal. Cheaper than buying groceries.
These are 6$ at most of them now. I live full-time in an rv traveling the country. I stay in cracker barrel parking lots a lot! Edit oh man don't stay in rest stops!
I didn't know about these. They look good, I'll have to try them. Cracker Barrel reminds me of when my folks took us kids to Country Kitchen back in the 70's. Grandma food. Crap, I'm old.
What a great idea! You’re so right, the meals are healthier, tastes fresher and cheaper, than McDonald’s! You just read my mind, I would’ve put ice cream over my blueberry French toast bake as well! Great minds think alike! lol!
We are getting ready to take a road trip next week and have a Cracker Barrel planned for dinner. Will have to get these to use in the hotel!! Thanks for sharing.
Looks and I’m sure taste a lot better than a frozen tv dinner from the grocery store. Probably not as many garbage ingredients either. Cheaper than some of the “better quality” tv dinners.
I'm 31 and me and my mom always visit on Thanksgiving and go to cracker barrel and she lives 8 hrs away. Idc what people say cracker barrel is amazing on the Holidays!!!❤❤❤
Thank you so much for doing this. We had Cracker Barrel here for less than a year and then they closed suddenly. Totally left the state of Oregon. I sure do miss their food.
Love your videos and content. My wife and I visit the smokies yearly and this year we reviewed a few of your videos for new restaurant ideas. I enjoy the thorough reviews. We dont usually go to kid friendly restaurants but have expanded our horizons in the pigeon forge/ gatlinburg /sieverville area. Thank you for the honest reviews. Dave and Emily
The $5 Cracker Barrel Take Home Meals all look really good. I think I would get the fried chicken with the mac & cheese and the grilled chicken with the mashed potatoes. Thanks for a great video.
CB should think about doing a container of their hashbrown casserole too, I would think it would reheat nicely. This is a really good takehome meal idea. 😊
@jworth7203 I love BJ’s. I had one near me in Florida and I used to go every week. But here in Sevierville, they don’t have one. I did just read they are going to be building one here though. So that’s very exciting.
@@jennifermountaingirl I got so tickled when you mention the town my grandson lives and works and runs his business. I'm going to call him after he's off work and tell him about these meals. He and his girlfriend work so many hours this would be perfect for them to buy a few so they eat something besides hamburgers and taco bells! Is there a menu of the meals they can buy? Thank you so much!
@Yaya2214CJ if you call the Cracker Barrel nearby, they will tell you what they have. I believe the meatloaf and the fried chicken and the baked chicken are available all the time, but I’m not sure about the blueberry French Toast Bake!
Wow...I had no idea they did these $5 to go meals! If I was a VAN Lifer or an RVer, I'd be all over this! (Or, great for take home!) Thanks for the info!!
Oh folks, thank you so much❤ We enjoy eating at Cracker Barrel Restaurants. When our 3 youngest boys were little up to grownups! Especially when traveling, we knew the foodcwas deluciouscand healthy, bathrooms werebclean, and we could doba littlecshopping also 😅. The '$5 to go meals' is certainly a surprise to me! Fun watching you. ❤
New subscriber - you two are just so comfortable & likable! I love Cracker Barrel and will definitely consider the $5 take-home meals next time we're there. Great job.
Thank You for letting me know this. The meals look Delicious. Much better than a frozen dinner. I will Definitely be checking out our Cracker Barrel for sure.
Just found you both! Thank you for this, we are Brits (Manchester England) and saving to come over to visit family in TN.. Such good info. Your doggies very cute too, Subscribed.
Looks like a great deal for dinner I would go for the chicken fried steak with a salad add a cooked vegetable and a dinner roll or bread & butter to fill it out but even then it's still a good deal and a meatloaf sandwich for lunch yum 🙂
For 5$ that's an awesome deal! Especially considering how fresh they all are! I'd much rather have this over any of the new value meals McDonald's or Wendy's have
We RV as well. Sometimes we CB overnight, either go in and do dinner or breakfast depending on the time. We’ve picked up a couple of these meals a piece, added a salad/dessert for the camper, and I have one or two less meals to cook when we’re out.
I love meatloaf sandwiches so my DH & I get 2 meatloaf meals & make sandwiches & mac & cheese for lunch or dinner the next day. It's delicious & I don't have to cook! Bonus! 👍😉
Such a random video, from my recommended, but I really enjoyed it. I frequent CB, didn’t even know they did take-home meals. Similar to BJ’s Restaurant.
I’m Canadian and hadn’t been to one of my beloved Cracker Barrels since before the pandemic, but we took a short road trip to nearby upstate NY a few months ago so I was damned excited when I got to visit for lunch at the last one before the border. The food was as good as I remember and then I saw the menu advertised those $5 meals so we actually brought a few across for MIL dearest and for us to have for dinner when we got home. So good and such a good value! We also got my husband a few T-shirts for super cheap on their clearance rack. I remember when you could rent books on tape at one location and return them to another when you were on a long road trip back in the 90’s.
We did $8.00 meals at Pizza Ranch also Olive Garden is also good. Being an older couple it is cost effective and saves on physical energy. Love the Bucky cup.
Thanks you guys for trying all of those dinners. We don't go to Cracker Barrell often (usually when travelling) but that is definitely something I will look out for if we do. They all looked tasty and at $5 it's a bargain there's no question. Having said that, though, I think I would miss a vegetable side. I wish they would have reduced the starch portion and just added a spoon of green beans, greens, okra, or broccoli. Also having rice as the starch for the grilled chicken would be nice for a lighter option. Definitely would have put the mashed potatoes on the fried version or the meatloaf, but mac & cheese is great with either one as well. Y'all have a great week!
This sounds like a great deal. We often go to Cracker Barrel when we are on the road so we don’t have a way to store them but if we had a place I would defiantly get them.
I have gotten to where I carry a cooler on road trips because drinks and snacks are so expensive on the road. I always throw leftovers in there now too. I use a few gel packs and it works great! And saves a ton of money.
I always get chicken fried chicken with green beans snd mashed potatoes and saw mill gravey on both the chicken and potatoes . And their peach cobbler is pretty good! Dont really care for their corn bread but their biscuts are nice,!
I love your pups. They remind me of little deer. We had a Yorkie she was our last pet she had congestive heart disease and passed at 15. She was so sweet.
I think this is a great idea, great price. Personally....i am not fond of their food...but to purchase for someone who likes/needs it.... it's wonderful. Kudos to Cracker Barrel.
I would do this if I did not have a dairy allergy. It is just me, so I usually cook on Sunday for the week. Usually a soup, chili, or beans, greens, etc.. since I work 6 days a week 10-12 hours a day it is easier.
