Welcome to Outschool. I love Outschool. I have been teaching there full-time for 3 years and 3 months. I get to teach history. I get to help children fall in love with history.
@@KristensClassroom I taught American History as an adjunct professor at the University Oklahoma. Which I still do. I also am in my 6th contract with VIPKID and 3rd at GoGoKid.
I agree 💯 when I started I just wanted to create as many classes as possible, but you need to give yourself time in between each lesson to be successful! I focus more on the content versus quantity. Quality over quantity always!:)
Thanks, Kristen. "Teaching is a skill. Make your students feel memorable and they'll remember you!" Constantly a work in progress. Content, content, content (value, value, value!)The rest will follow. Lots of good reminders and tips.
Kudos to you girl! I bet your learners really enjoy class with you too. I’m really happy that you have found great success so far and pray you continue to find more success. Woohoo!!
#goals! Get it girl :) my life is starting to settle down a bit so I’m finally able to schedule more classes. I spent this time creating classes and getting them approved but have not scheduled them. Now is the time and I’m hoping to be as successful as you! Congrats!
I make as much in 24 hours of teaching and 4 hours of admin/prep (28 hours total) a month at outschool as I do in 110 hours of time a month (220 classes) at VIPKid. It's a no brainer. Yeah for you finding success. Enjoy!
Thank you for doing these videos Kristen! You're such a huge inspiration for me. Being a Type A and nothing close to a performance / acting major... this has been tough for me, but I need it soooo badly for myself. I'm working on it all today as I'm watching this! Thank you!
I have learned that if you have an idea and even have classes that build into a series create them into flex courses. I started with fractions, built 9 consecutive lessons and had a suggested flow, then I made short videos about them, and requested the flex class with all of them so I can use them over and over and don’t have to do them live. Or if parents want them they can request them and I’m fine with that too. Learn to love flex classes. And don’t overcharge on classes. Also as a parent I liked so many classes, but I felt teachers were charging waaay too much. I don’t always want to commit to multiple weeks and pay that much money. I have a 6 week, 5 days a week, kinder to first grade bridge class and it’s been great and parents feel they’re getting a good value. Oh and lastly it tugs on my nerves as a parent when teachers abruptly end class. Like Kristen said, don’t stack classes one right after another. Shouldn’t be a big deal if class goes over by a minute or two. Deliver good customer service and have patience.
That’s what I have been hearing from teachers on OS. To make a flex class as soon as you can. However, flex classes are pretty mixed with parents. Some enjoy the flexibility and self paced. Other parents wonder why spend money on a prerecorded video if they can find a video for free on RU-vid. I am still new and I have done all the class types expect Flex. Lol
diamondflame45 that’s true, but it comes down to price. If you charge an amount that is worth your time and effort, attracts parents because of affordability, and you actively follow up it all makes sense in the end. It’s the amount of effort we put into every class no matter what it is.
@@DiamondFlame45 I would say parents may find a video for free on youtube but they wouldn't necessarily know the sequence or best order to teach steps/process of the topic. A multi-week flex class can be developmentally paced and in a certain sequence for the topic.
I like your videos. I was in the middle of getting my teachers certification when Corvid 19 shut down the program. Now I don’t even substitute teach since shit down of the District and then my doctor said I am a high risk so stay home.
Ughhh.. OutSchool sounds amazing. I've heard so much about it. I'm from the UK but live in Taiwan, so I'm unable to teach for them as I'm no longer a resident of the UK. Hopefully, they change that sometime!
How can I message you a few questions… It’s 4am and I am watching your video it is literally an answer to prayer. Been trying to start out school for months and have no idea how to begin. Thank you thank you thank you
I am an almost 2 year VIPKID teacher and love it but I love teaching Kids about budgeting, debt, money and hard work! I am going to start my first class on Outschool... it seems like a unicorn fairytale land though...
When you taught Disney sing-alongs, didn't you offer them as such? i plan to teach some piano songs from the company's books. All student would be purchasing the books? What do you think?
Kristen, The only thing between me and Out school is I have no idea how to design my own curriculum. Do they show you how to do that? Do you use PowerPoint? How does that work? Can you please advise
Hey Kristen! Great information in your videos....you have such energy!! I just signed up for your free guides on your mailing list and was just wondering how long it takes before they come so I can learn even more from you. Keep up the inspiring work!!
Hi! Thank you for all of the helpful videos! Do you mind sharing which graphic design course you took? There are so many listed; it is overwhelming! Thank you!
@@KristensClassroom Yes, I signed up yesterday. Sorry to bother you! I thought you would have it set up to auto-send, so I thought there was a bug in your program and I wanted to let you know.
Hi it was great watching your video and thank you. I am trying to work with outschool but I have some questions you may be able to answer for me. I have subscribed to your channel. Is there any why the speech is so fast? without any intent of being rude. Just wondering if it's a time issue. I am a professional graphic designer and artist with more than 20 years experience in the field, 3 degrees up to MA and London based work, After the recession I started travelling to more than 40 countries where I started teaching English and I am also bilingual in Greek as I lived there many years and finished high school and my first degree in Fine Art & Graphics. I can teach English, Greek, Photography, Photoshop, illustrator and other software and also assist and help people travel in South Central America, Asia and Europe, but I am a bit confused of where to start? I can also teach Art history, drawing and converse with people in both languages to improve there ability in both languages and talk about any issue they wish for them to improve their level and also help with University entries etc. How would you start if you were in my position? Can you help with any of the questions I have? Which one do you think I should build on first 'Expats living or moving to Greece to live? And if it was drawing etc what recording equipment should I use? Thank you for your video and wishes to Staying safe for all of us.
Hi, you are simply amazing! I’m really struggling getting any enrollments. I’m using Canva for my thumbnails. I have posted on as many Facebook groups allowed. Please help.
