Doitonadimefamily $5 Goodwill Challenge: • $5 Goodwill Toy Challenge
My goal was to find "Target inspired" home decor items for summer and stick with a budget of $5. I went slightly over with tax (about $5.30), but I scored some super stuff.

I just wanted to say thank you for promoting used stuff! Garage sales, Goodwill and Salvation Army are so beneficial in so many ways. The earth and our local communities to name a couple.

I thrifted the EXACT same dessert dishes a while ago (in the Netherlands)! Love them, especially with colorful ice cream scoops inside.

You're so lucky -- our local Goodwill [& even the Salvation Army resale/thrift store too] are just plain nasty. Way over priced -- often higher than full retail at mainstream stores! and filthy, & usually very worn and/or broken. Maybe lightly used baby/children's gear are bargains but I've never found anything I'd even bring in my home if it were free. Too bad too because the concept of Goodwill & S.A. are wonderful; it's just their mgmt/execution here that's all messed up.

great finds. it would be quite hard to fine a few items for $5 from a goodwill type store in Australia as they are a bit expensive but i will be trying to give this one a go.

I have that same white footed bowl. I love the oak leaf pattern on it. I got it at a thrift store about 15 years ago. I have a green glass one too

Lucky you... I stopped by my local Goodwill because of one of your videos and found nothing but expensive garbage. Everything was broken or ruined and nothing was less than $2.50.

Illinois is worse, 10% sales tax there, plus a 5% state income tax deducted from your paycheck. Texas, 8.25% sales tax, no state income tax,

My goodwill was expensive but I still found 2 things. A basket with top (my new trash can) and a bathroom caddy that I am using to keep my purse organized.

Goodwill has a lot of great things WHEN you shop them often enough. Learn their deals schedule. Here in Savannah GA area, ours as special deals scheduled weekly and month ie all clothed half off on first Saturday. We too have Target deals. Also, Loyal Tree App is now used by Goodwill here. Earn a point for every dollar spent. Get 250 points and receive 50% off entire purchase. You used to be able to combine the specials and the 50% off but they've nixed that! Before, we were scoring great deals!

Our goodwill is kind of expensive. I have seen target clothes items for the price they would be at target on clearance for 30% off. Not a good deal to me at all.

Great finds! I have a Goodwill within walking distance of me, but lately. they do not have anything I want and things seem grosser lol..There is a good one 2 cities over I may have to check out.

Katherine , is there a specific way of finding a good Goodwill store ? The couple of store I have been to donot have good stuff. I mean who wants to buy cassette players any more. I was able to find a crystal vase after 7 total visit s to these 2 stores. Please advise.

My first trip earlier this year to our local Goodwill after a donations drop- off, I got several brand new items...plus several dry quick workout type of tshirts like new, for great prices The best find for $8.00 !! (This would be $40.00-50.00 at least!) was a brand new with tags,😊 nylon pullover men's size 3x for University of Mount Union Football ...where my amazing husband works and we live nearby.

OM I love Goodwill most of my expensive decor for my house came for Goodwill chandeliers, toys, my fire place protector and more and more you name it and I know they come from target great finds for my house and my budget

Great scores! Your Goodwill charges tax? We don't pay tax at Goodwill stores in St Louis because it's a non-profit.

I LOVE your channel and most of your ideas! I do want to point out though that Goodwill is a FOR PROFIT organization. $0 of any sales go to charity. The CEO is a multimillionaire and he pays disabled folks less than $1 an hour to work for him and pays the other employees minimum wage. It's actually a really awful company. I would never spend a dime there, especially not $5! A good deal is wonderful, but not at the expense of my morals. Keep the great organization and dollar tree tips coming though! Go ahead and look into Goodwill's business model and you may not feel right shopping there anymore either.

Did you know that goodwill does not actually help people in need? They claim to help individuals with disabilities by giving them jobs. That is their contribution. People are still donating items and the profits go to the owner not people in need. This bussiness is hidden by a good name. You should encourage people to donate to salvation army who actually do help people in need!

did you know that Salvation Army promotes hatred? They use donations to support government officials specifically to get anti gay bills passed. You should encourage people to not support a hatred based corporation. I have a disabled friend that works and supports herself because of Goodwill.

As I mentioned before, they do employ people with disabilities. And about the anti-gay subjecy, I am glad! I am tired of liberals telling me i cant pray and i cant say I am Christian and keep me from exercising my right to refuse baking a cake in the shape of a penis and sewing me because i refused! How is that ok to you? Your so called hate... My right to free speech is taken away bc i cant say I am Christian. If I warn you of the consequences of sin, then I am judging and bein hateful. God does not force anyone but government is fixing to force secular views on everyone. How is that fair?

You know I have read the complaining before on Kathryn's channel about Good Will. People have the right to shop where they want. There are many people who shop at the Good Will, especially for family clothing, because it is affordable for them. Its a great way to recycle things and provide jobs. I find it distasteful to make comments about your own personal opinions on controversial subjects (on all sides) on this channel. She does a wonderful job at sharing and teaching people great ways to save money, and that is what really matters here.
