How to decorate your home from the Goodwill and Dollar Store

I don't understand how people say she is has no taste. All she is doing is showing people on a budget that you still can decorate with a little effort and time. Everybody does not have the same decor style. The tips will help somebody!

I have been doing what u do for most my life since I was a teen. When you grow up without a lot you have to work with the little bit u got! I am a third generation thrifter, so it's in my blood. Good luck in the future! I go to rich areas and check out their yard sales and things that they throw out. Good stuff ! Best of luck !

I love to use Craigslist too! I recently purchased 11 pieces of perfect condition, Pottery Barn Teen furniture (enough to furnish 2 kid's rooms). The original retail price exceeded $5,000.00 and I only paid $600.00 - for ALL pieces. SCORE!

Have found huge deals over the years; however, what I gained from your video is that we MUST be selective and avoid clutter at all cost. Every Goodwill has its own pricers. You would not be able to find ANY deals like you mentioned at our local Goodwills. They have decided that since they are now so popular that they will over charge for what they sell. Honestly, MANY of the items they now sell are higher than you would find at a retail store like Kohls, Target, or any other medium priced store. It is a shame because it used to be a place where people could go for bargains.

The sentimental stencils paired with personally significant framed photos is a stunning idea!! I've NEVER seen that done!! So good that you keep vases (I didn't for years...but whenever I wanted one, I didn't have one: and I just decided: Life is short--flowers are a gift that needs to be displayed and enjoyed!). I have a yard full of plants now....so they get used regularly. Yes: SOME really heavy glass may be lead crystal (very expensive) and I'll bet not everyone stocking shelves at Goodwill realizes that. (if it is clear and dense and ridiculously heavy for it's size--grab it!) Don't forget Goodwill if you are looking for fabric too....often in the clothing departments you can find items that can be re-purposed and sewn into new items such as pillows, small curtains, placemats, quilts, etc. etc ... even the backs of several shirts in coordinating themes could upholster those chair seats ( love the ones you did ... but in a different setting coordinating rather than matching seats would be charming ). Napkin holders ( similar to what you found ) can also make great desk organizers: put file folders, pads of paper, schedule/calendar/planning books that you use often right on top of your desk ... where you can see and reach them quickly instead of going into a drawer. Gorgeous glass lamp ... a very lucky find! And that little elephant obviously "spoke" to you! He is darling ... simple and stylish ... and his trunk "up" represents good luck :-) You have a great sense of style and frugality ... my grandparents who raised me ( they were from the "Greatest Generation"/ "Great Depression" era) would have been proud of you! ;-) Just found your channel tonight ... subbed up already! ok..i watched this video last week. and then this past weekend, i bought a glass jar thingie from goodwill for about $3.00 that i planned to put qtips in.....Theeeeen i went to .99 cent store and found a cuter one for .99 cents of course!! immediately this video popped back in my head. its a really good tip....thanks for the info and your good energy!

For the matting, I would suggest buying matting on Amazon. They sell bunches of matting and you can find a mat cutter for customizing the center box. And I adore your wall color! Totally awesome that you used Behr, my entire apartment is painted with Behr in Naturale flat and trimmed out with Ultra Bright White semi-gloss. Most resilient and durable paint I've ever used. That's saying a lot because I've used Valspar, Sherwin Williams and True Value. None stands up to Behr, good ole' Home Depot! :-)

Very cute ideas for a student or beginner with their 1st apartment and a zero budget etc. When working with extremely miniscule funds, a little creativity can go a long way. Good job and cute little house.

The best goodwill finds I ever found were a gigantic Moulin Rouge framed movie poster (it's around 3ft x 2ft), a perfectly good wooden shoe rack, and a Christian Dior cashmere sweater :D

My favorite part was when you owned up to bumping yourself in the glasses. I wasn't sure what happened at first, but then you fessed up. Like a boss. Oh, and great finds, btw.

Thanks for such a nice video. It does my heart good to see a young person being frugal and thinking about their purchases. I learned to reuse/redo and be thrifty from my Mom and passed that along to my daughter. You can make a home look nice without spending a lot of money. GOOD JOB!!

Sooo much of my furniture in my home was either from the thrift store or free from neighbors. I am always being complimented on my home, and its amazing how inexpensively I was able to do it. Mr Goodwill and I have been friends for a very long time! Not to mention you are helping your local community and keeping a few things out of landfills, so it helps the planet. I find such wonderful Christmas decorations from Goodwill/Salvation Army. Stuff that would cost bundles of dollars, cost me pennies. I get gifts from Goodwill, again, you are helping your community/planet and saving $$$.

Love your honesty about shopping at Goodwill. So many people tiptoe in there and pretend that they're there b/c it's 'their first time' or 'they heard about this place' or they're looking for gag gifts, etc. when really they're shopping for their home and family, just like everybody else. Your videos always give me a few ideas if not several. The halfway house for stuff you might get rid of, the over the door thingy for mittens and stuff LOVE that idea, and shopping our own homes.!!! Any suggestions for getting a very hard working man who's a little less than tidy around the house to cooperate with my organizing/cleaning? He works 50+ hours a week so I'm fine with him not cleaning, etc. He has a very physically demanding job so I'm ok w/ being the one who keeps house. But he leaves he things EVERYWHERE! and never wants to throw stuff away. makes me nuts lol.

You're really good at this! Your home may be "streamlined" but it doesn't look bare, unfinished, or cold. This was a great video I'm so glad I watched it. I ubber appreciate you making it. So I'm gonna give you a lil quick tip about Thrift shops. My family personally has kind of not too good history with meeting weird and sometimes negative energies in our home, so from now on before my mother brings anything big in her house she takes it outside and blessess it with extra virgin olive oil first, because you never know who had some of that stuff first or what circumstances under in which it ended up in the Thrift shop. Not trying to scare you, just giving you the heads up, so if you ever end up with a bad vibe in your house you'll know it could be something recently purchased that just needs to be blessed ^_^

Girlfriend, if you could cut out 85% of your wordiness and get right to the point, I think you'll keep lots of followers. I just couldn't finish your video. Sorry! I've been shopping at Goodwills, Discovery, Garage Sales, consignment shops all of my life and have decorated my home using my great finds. Remember, get to the point and keep it simple. Keep working on filming and sharing your gift for finding great inexpensive stuff.

Llove the challenge of paying next to nothing and love to bring old furniture back to life-sturdy pieces from the 50s, 60s, 70s updated with good prep work and jazzy hardware, so worth the elbow grease. I like much of what you did but consider painting the dining room set-and add something 'weighty'' to Ikea shelves to balance the huge breakfront on the other wall! I'd add large framed artwork to the walls and shelves to add some balance. Almost forgot-you're adorable and LOVE YOUR DOG too!

Hello! You have so many ideas that I've utilized in my home. I can't recall the last time I purchased something full price and even the decorative sayings you have in your home, I have in mine. It's odd...there are so many ideas that I also have used for so long. Goodwill, thrift stores, garage sales, flea markets, estate sales and the dollar tree have been my go to stores for everything. I have found so many cool things. I found a Picasso Screen Print from the 50's at a Swap Meet for $2 once! It's worth way more than $2 and it's just such an amazing piece of art and has been a part of my family for sometime now. Thank you for sharing! You have great ideas and I must say great minds think alike. :) I've also purchased things that I've resold and made quite a profit on. thanks again, I will be sharing your page!
