This is the biggest problem current collectors and many dealers have when selling..... they love their cards too much. I go to most shows with $1000s available to spend, and usually leave only spending a small fraction.

BS only way to collect is to be ahead. Know what your going after, and oh HOF / Rookie HOF. You don't need the high dollar cards . Take your time ,time always comes back. Trust me.

Great video! I'm in a similar situation as both sellers here... trying to trim down all my collections to focus on grail type stuff. It's a lot of work selling through local shows... but also a lot of fun meeting people. One day, I'll dump in bulk but not quite ready yet :)

I'm loving this channel. I wrote you guys a PM, but you never responded. I have inherited 100's of tobacco cards from my fathers estate that I need to sell. He collected antiques for over 50 years. I have already been on Antiques Roadshow with 5 of my Ty Cobbs. I also have 1000's of basketball, football, hockey, garbage pail kids, Star Wars cards etc, etc, etc...Like Ben in this video, I have collections of many different things that would make your head spin. I have a town in my back yard, and each building is filled ceiling to floor. Come on over, seriously, I need to liquidate.

Glad you have a new video out. The first guys is a card shop/dealer and has the dealer mentality, so you won’t get prices to resell. The last guy’s place is like a museum of cool stuff. I have been to Texas many times and it is not the best place in the US, Mike’s opinion. I think your forgetting the heat that you’re in and having a slight stroke. Barely ever hits 100 in Colorado. 😂

COLLECTORS: Pay ATTENTION to what they are saying - TOO MUCH modern stuff. That should tell you everything and what NOT to collect...UNLESS you love modern. Notice that they REALLY didn't want MORE of that. NOTE how they don't want it all...but are cherry-picking (which I don't blame them). Collectors - you NEED to understand that MOST of what you have is unwanted and NOT desired. Be careful what you buy and how much of it....otherwise you'll be stuck with 50K of unwanted cardboard. Do YOU want to be that person? I know I don't.....

Its a tough habit to break for people that have done shows and had shops since the 80’s. I used to skip tables at shows back in the 90’s where guys didn’t have their cards priced because they all just referenced hi book in Beckett. Comps today make life so much easier.

He either lied and never had a shop all of those years ago and just bought into the hype of the last two years looking to cash in quickly or he is a longtime shop owner and still living in 1995 prices where everything was Beckett high book. I’m going with the latter because we have a shop in my city where the owner is in his 70’s and won’t move off of his prices yet when all of the junk wax spiked in price during Covid, he was more than happy to raise his prices with it. He literally has had wax boxes in his shop for the last 35 years that have sat there so long that the covers have faded.

I'd love a special episode on the current problem with Wander Franco. Even if he comes out innocent and plays again (doubtful) his prices will never be back to what they were going for. Maybe an episode on the 5 biggest busts in sports cards the past 5-10 years.

That’s not what this show is about, if you want drama and the bottom of the barrel of the hobby go to Sports Card Radio, they have the garbage of the hobby you’re looking for.

@@carolinatarheels7903 Bottom barrel of the hobby? You do realize who Wander Franco is right? One of the biggest prospects in the past 15 years. And Sports Card Radio seems to be doing a good job of calling out the BS in the industry. Geoff Wilson looks like he might have got himself into a pickle.

@@jcleveland9056 you missed the point, yes I know very well who Wander is. The point being that this is not what this show is about. The bottom of the barrel I'm talking about is all of the drama in sports and even the hobby that SCR thrives on. And speaking of Geoff Wilson, you do know that him and SCR are all in on this and playing you. They got in this fake fight where Geoff was going to sue them for talking s*** and SCR coward down and became buddies with him and Ken Goldin.
