You guys nailed the videos this show. Out of everybody I watch on RU-vid, you guys have the best continual content. Very much apprehaited, loved watching all the videos.
Thank you so much for the coverage of The Quail. The best $1,250 I ever didn't spend. FYI, the 1967 Ferrari 412P sold for $30,255,000 at Friday's Bonhams The Quail Auction. This does not include a massive buyer's premium (Bonham's fee) of at least 10%, plus sales tax in whatever state the car gets registered.
Hispano-Suiza, was a famous before the war for it's luxury cars that rivaled Mercedes and Rolls. It also was most well-known for it's many innovations innovations in engine design used in both automobiles and aircraft engines. I knew about it before because I'm a military buff.
You really got a ton of cars in this vid , that was great editing, the 959's an the CGT 's that was cool to see , otherwise its f'en bonkers how the cars are all now multi million space ship lookin works if art ... Anyway great vid Dan.
Big thank you for sharing this for those of us who may never get a chance to ever attend this event. Also that Pininfarina Battista I actually got to see one of my local exotic car dealers hidden from street view just a week before car week, and wondered if it would be somewhere at Car Week. I guess I was right! It was silver however.
Thanks for sharing for those us who could not attend Quail-this year! Where did you guys stay? House or Hotel…looks nice!!! Btw, that P34 sold at Bonham’s for $27.5M. Lots of racing pedigree, for sure!!
Dan, Hispano Suiza was a luxury car brand way back in the 1920s. Looks like they dug out the name and reanimated it. The car at 14:58 is a Brabham T 50 s as a reminiscence to Niki Lauda‘s ground effect car with the fan in the back.
When Your Son gets older bring Him to Monterey week. My Father always got Us VIP press passes with Road & Track to all the best events there.. I have lifetime memories and pictures of Our 1990's and early 2000's father son time there. Back then lots of celebrities attended those events... Also much cooler weather in August then here in north Scottsdale.
John Dziki!!!!!! I think the gents are looking rather spiffy. I had to do a double-take, thought they were made honorary judges for the day in their attire and Joko looked like the board president...ok, I've got to get back to wiping the drool off my chin now after seeing that 250 GTO.
I recall in the 1990's being young and unimpressed with the Ferrari GTOs. They looked like a Datsun 240Z but with a $10+ million dollar price back then. I did think as a young guy the original Testarossa's looked and sounded amazing. Up until 1973 I believe ALL Ferrari's were mandated by Enzo with V12s.... No V8s allowed!
You got it right by saying this is ART, because at this price point nobody drives these cars. The NEWEST F1 craze for STREET CARS is simply TOO extreme for anything other than trailering them to the track..
I’ve always been a fan of the Dino, I remember about a decade ago everyone shat on them saying they wouldn’t be worth $hit, and now they’re a highly praised Ferrari. I only wish I could’ve purchased one when they were 30k
Fashion and design go hand in hand. Get your fashion cues from the cars. None have been so bold as to incorporate something similar to Dan's shirt in their interiors. I don't know why?
WOW, you broke the bank on this trip. I enjoyed the video, I have to agree with you some of those cars are just to much. To me the Ferrari 275 GTB is the best looking Classic Ferrari I know everyone goes crazy over 250 GTO. There’s a classic movie from the 70’s with Walter Matthau in it, called “A New Leaf” in the movie he’s driving a Ferrari 275 GTB around the streets of New York City and its constantly breaking down. You and your wife I think would really like it. It’s a comedy where he has on money left and must find a wife in 1 month or lose everything. Thank you for the grand tour of Monterey car week.
Curious, if you guys even try to get media credential passes for these videos. Also, if you do this again next year, I would love to join you. I usually do it, but this year I went to Woodward where my son is an engineer and we cruised in my new Corvette. Nice vid.
nice ! when are we going to hear you try and say the name öhlins "suspension name" seen it on several cars ! its damm good ...maybe am abit bias because am swede
This is REAL PORN… hell it’s better than porn and it made me realize if I ever won the lotto I would be broke in a couple of days. Your so lucky to see all that in person. God Bless.
Interesting comment about not being sure it’s worth the ticket price. I can see that. I’ve seen most of those cars (excluding the really crazy new stuff that all seem to look the same) including all 3 of the Ferrari GTO cars, so for me to pay $1200 to see them again might not be best use of funds. I still haven’t seen a Lexus LFA, and I saw that orange one in the background. That is really my last realistic car to check off seeing. The F1 is the last bucket list car spot. I’m not counting on ever seeing that one though.
Great vids! But maybe nobody around the La Ferrari because it’s just not that nice. It looks like a track shoe and for me in relation to most of the new cars exposed carbon fibre weave looks about as good as a Pelican pulled from an oil slick. New stuff sucks for me.
Don't listen to all of that nonsense about your shirt Dan, some people just lack style. I know because my great great grandmother had that same shirt and she was an impeccable dresser. Of course, she didn't wear it out in public, it was more of a around the farm type shirt. Ya know, one you don't care if something happens to it. Josh made me do it.
Problem is the mega super hyper cars all start to look the same akin to the sea of look alike SUVs we see anymore. Then the idea that hardly any of them are driven at speeds approaching their capabilities. Or much at all as they will likely languish for years with less than 10,000 on the odometers.
Is it just me or is anyone else seeing the trend here?...limited production cars that look like road going F1 cars??? I remember when that didn't work out so well for the Caparo T1, so maybe some of our major known contenders have finally figured out how to make this work?? Or are these track only toys?
Well I guess with the tickets and parking prices it had to be thrift store blue shirt with black tadpole sperm shirt the height of 1982 wal mart fashionwear
