GREAT attitude, we have houses through 3 generations as customers some reaching back 35 years that remember me when I was a young man... it always feels good to be able to do a great job and not be judged only on your price. Digging your videos too and what you did with your channel, I just started sharing a few things on mine, amazing how the world has changed with technology and ease of recording.

What I would do is call around to your competitors and see what they're charging. Most people around here will bid over the phone (which blows me away). From there model your pricing a few bucks hire and provide the best service. You'll do nothing but succeed. Good luck!

140 a month is damn cheap - here in NY we charge $75-85 per week. Bigger companies charge about $3500 -$4500 per pool full service (opening, weekly service and closing).Although service is limited to about 16 -22 weeks out of the year.

Believe it or not, here in NJ we charge around $85/week to clean and maintain pools. It's not the staple of my business, we're more repair/renovation oriented but people ask and we started obliging. By the time we pay taxes, liability and a responsible employee well we actually make very little of that $85. Our season is also only about 8 months of the year tops so we have to make enough for the year in that short time and even of the 8 months the bulk of our work is only 3 or 4 months. In the spring it's insane, everything happens at once once pools are opened. It's interesting to see how the pool business is in other states such as FL, I actually spend a lot of time there in the winter, been going to FL for a solid month in the winter now for over 30 years. I've alway wondered what it'd be like to be a pool guy down there too.

Chlorine King Pool Service California needs to get on board with those rates. I’m still cleaning pools at $90 a pop, yet keep telling myself “next year, I’m raising rates”, yet still haven’t. I’m avg 100 per pool - but that’s gotta change, just not profitable even staying at an avg of 100.

@@MrJLAguilar That response was from quite a while ago. Things have changed. I brought everyone up to your rate the year after that response. But sending out letters today pools are going up to 130. Truly in 5-6 mos they need to be at 160. I spend on average 65-75 dollars on ALL business expenses per pool per month. I charge 25 a visit. So at 120 even 130 I’m eating into my labor revenue to cover my clients pool service costs. Not happening anymore. If you really dial in your numbers you will see you’re spending far more than what you think. Raise your rates. We all have to, it’s long over due in every area across this nation. Pool service rates must go up. Keep raising yours Miguel I’m telling you. The costs are through the roof and only going to keep increasing.

I was paying $90 for twice a month service. The service was using a automatic pool cleaner with 2 visits to skim the surface. I complained when I noticed the skimmer basket wasn’t cleaned. In the fall, I removed the auto pool cleaner to allow the skimmer to work. I still expected the pool service to vacuum the floor and clean the skimmer, but it wasn’t done. He drops by for barely 10 minutes and it looks the same as if he wasn’t there. I paid for the chlorine tablets so it’s not coming out of his paycheck. After 6 months of patience, I decided to cancel the service and do it myself. This is actually the second service that I had to fire. The first service left my pool with green algae when he suddenly stopped showing up. I don’t trust pool service any more.
@ChlorineKingPoolService
@ChlorineKingPoolService 5 лет назад
Hey Enzo. I'm really sorry to hear about your bad experiences with pool service. I promise you not all of them are like that. It sounds like what you're describing is a "splash n dash" type of company that comes in quickly, may or may not test the water, sprinkle in some chemical and leave (hence the low pricing). My company does not operate that way and I know there are others out there. My advice is to not race to the bottom of the barrel in pricing, and hire a highly rated company that will do weekly service. Bi-weekly, in my opinion, is a losing proposition for a pool company. I wish you luck and thanks for watching!
@finned958
@finned958 5 лет назад
From appearances, that’s not what they were. They used chlorine tablets that I purchased. The company acid washed my pool after the last service left it with algae. They got lazy in the fall and winter months as if I wouldn’t notice. They relied on the automatic pool cleaning machine. They refused to just clean it manually after discussing it with them several times over the phone. I don’t need more than twice monthly service, but I expect him to clean it thoroughly in each visit. He doesn’t get to decide to not clean it if it looks clean to him, which is false. It’s always looks dirty. Rather than waste $90 or $45 in each visit, it’s cheaper to do it myself. You also mention a pool company loses money in biweekly service. This makes no sense if they don’t come by and actually clean it!!! My previous service charged $65 for non-service. My new service made clear that he charges more for better service. Not a good case for paying more money.

Hey Daniel, thanks for your response. That's the problem with this industry... it's a race to the bottom of the barrel. There’s a couple of reasons. First, over the decades customers have gotten used to the cheap uninsured, unreliable, improperly pool servicing companies who charge nothing so it’s really hard to charge a ton more. Secondly, the proximity of the pools are so close there’s not a lot of drive time. Our company has around 600ish pools all within a 10 mile radius. Some of my techs can park on one part of the street and walk to five of their pools. Lastly, our pools are relatively small (10k-12k gallons) and most are screened in. So a lot aren’t terribly labor intensive. We also service 24/7/365. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. I wish we could get the pricing you guys do. I’ve been working hard to help change that. We start at $160/month now so inching up there. Have a good weekend.

It's sad. It's a horrible and vicious circle too. The cheaper they go to break into the market, the more that clients believe that's what pool service should cost, then people like me trying to make an honest living can't get in the door because we're so "expensive".

Chlorine King Pool Service I’m in Vegas, Henderson NV area. It’s not worth it to do a pool here for anything less than $110.00 a month. My sweet number is $120-$125. I tell them, does your other service clean filters every quarter? Do they use phosphate removers to prevent algae? Do they show up every week and empty all the baskets and run equipment checks? Do they stay for at least 25-30 mins to do the clean, vac and full service?

Man I think she was just lying to get you to come down on price. Nobody can do it for $60. if the pool is actually turning green they'd lose money getting it clean. LPT: download maps ruler, I know it's available for Android. Ask the customer for their address and the depth of the pool. You can use the app to measure the pool and then you can calculate gallons. You can actually trace the pool free hand to get the perimeter, and it's accurate within a few inches. The app is free and has literally saved me days worth of time over the last year by not having to go on location to give an estimate. Have fun pool side!

That's exactly my point. Theres 0 money and the client is not going to get a good service. I'm doing a break even analysis and the money I pay my guys almost covers $60 per account lol.

lmao what company is quoting 60$ a month for pool service. those are the type of people who need to not be in the business, ruining the industry

I completely agree. There used to be a bunch of them a year or two ago. Now that prices increases there are fewer but still some out there quoting that haha.

@@ChlorineKingPoolService Thank god lol. i own a pool business in southern cali 50+ pools nothing crazy big. Just run it myself with repairs still growing.. And i got people on yelp who reach out to me and they get these crazy low quotes (90-110$ a mo) and then a month or two goes by and they hit me up like "ok you are right, i need profesional reliable service". Like i try to tell them the service there going to get. Newbies and just a body to throw out there to net and put chems in for minimum wage. The prices all my customers are at 130-160 a month. Its about the average here now in socal.

It takes 15 - 20 minutes tops to service a pool without any real issues. 140 a month charge for 1and a 1/2 hours worth of work for the entire month? It's pool service man not "rocket science" or labor intensive. The money is made on the volume of customers. People want to get rich on one job. Chemicals included doesn't warrant such an overcharge.
