Several other channels from U.S. expats living in the Philippines state it cost between 111,800 PHP ($2000 USD) to 168,000 PHP ($3000 USD) to live in the Philippines and not live in a slum or eat rice and fish every day... I thought that was kind of expensive. It's been the consensus by all that $1000 USD per month would NOT be enough to survive on and live comfortably.

It's $63 for rent, but it's $750 if you want to use lights and aircon. Hahahaha. They both stay in that small one bedroom apt? It must get cramped at times, if they have friends over, or get mad at each other for a while. Hahaha

Hey lot my beautiful friend, you are 100% correct. What you pay is definitely depending on your lifestyle. For the house that I rent with my wife is , $410.00 per month usd. $20,000 pesos. But it's the lifestyle that we want to live. It's really been so hot, which means my electric bill will go up because of running the aircon. Does your sister live in Borges old apartment? Or all the apartments there look similar? If I was on a very tight budget, that area would definitely be a good place to live. But I don't know if there are many foreigners that live in that area. Which for me is good. You are truly the best lot.
