As a civilian husband and father, I appreciate people like yourself teaching me what gear is useful vs not useful and effective pistol/rifle techniques. Not all of us ended up in the military or are making bank, so this info goes a long way. Thank you.
Training vs. Reality: Is there a replacement for real world experience? No... But strenuous and dynamic training is the next best thing. E.g. MMA is not street fighting, but no one thinks it’s a good idea to have few beers then get spicy with the guy who has cauliflower ear.
Stress testing and stress training is probably the main component and reason for most training. It teaches you how to adapt, maintain calmness, and think as clearly as you can under pressure as well as maintaining dexterity and control; as dexterity and control are usually the first things you tend to lose when under stress and in hi pressure situations. So gaining the confidence as well as ability in those situations is the main thing that can come out of most training. But also what works best for you as well

@@tangomantactical no you pog boot, he's saying he's doing more for society as a civilian than most dumb boots would ever do, and you don't have to serve in the military to be a warrior. Bonus facts this guy would easily out do most people in all the branches in urban mount/close quarter engagements and probably even open ground and night. Just about any combat scenario if he performs half as good as he does when he trains.

Interesting that active duty instructors are referring to T.rex for shooting and Val Kilmer in "Heat" for reloads. Nice that they are using all available resources for educating those young guys in training. Kudos to them for not simply referring them to a manual.
Please do more of these, I can't tell you how much money I've wasted on gear that I ended up absolutely hating. This style of vid is great for guys and gals just getting into shooting or airsoft
Just a heads up those plate carriers usually have a second plate pouch inside the main plate pouch to keep the plate from bouncing around inside and to separate it from the soft body armor that was typically used in conjunction with the rifle plates. You can also add a cummerbund, thats what the big slot on the back is for.
I really dig the vibe and approach to this video, especially on the 4th! I think a lot of people fall into this trap of needing to have the latest and most expensive stuff. Many times they end up getting caught in this cycle and never have the experience of realizing cheap gear in all honesty works extremely well. When experience is not available, training is what ultimately determines effectiveness. A trick I learned for using flapped pouches is either tuck the flap into the back of the pouch as there is usually still enough friction to hold the mags in. OR, you can drag your hand from below and up the pouch under the flap and lifting/ hold the flap up with your thumb and grab the mag with your free fingers, pulling the mag up to your thumb. It helps limit the fumbling with the flap when trying to grab and index a mag.
As he was initially mentioning manual de-cock I smiled as I used to duty carry the original USP 9 and also manually de-cocked the first few times till I realized you could use the safety to de-cock. Good content as always.

I know I’m late to the game here, but those rifle mag pouches we run in the Corps. You have to put the second magazine behind the first or you’ll never get it in. I usually tuck my flaps in the pouch so the mags are friction retained and still accessible.
Solid info! And proof you don’t need expensive or even super high quality gear to be proficient. Same applies to surfing. Also, A lot of people have issues with Lucas not being military. For what it’s worth, I’ve been in the Navy 7 years. I’ve shot a handgun once in the Navy. That’s it. I obviously shot more personally. But don’t let military “credentials” be something you look at. Those mag pouches are doubles, you shove the second mag in behind the first one, not in front of it…but that duct tape definitely makes it harder to both index and draw.

Add a paint can opener to the kit, allows you to get spent jammed casings that don’t eject and are jam into the chamber. Works better than knife and multi tool. Can retain with string or paracord to your molle.
Yeah plus Australian SOCOMD operators run their kit like that. The kangaroo dump pouch is actually there to hide erections according to a former 2CDO operator. Bc the boys would get stiffies before ops and afterwards, would conceal the package behind the dump pouch before heading to the porta John to chop that wood.
Don't sweat not remembering everything about your guns. While I may not have as many guns as you have access to, I do have quite a few, and remembering how each of them operates and the disassembly/assembly procedures for them all is actually pretty tough to do once you get a good collection going. That's why I rely on RU-vid videos such as yours to re-remind me of things I have long since forgotten. As for the Cordura Mag Pouches, remember, the plate carrier is used and it was exposed to weather etc... If you force the mags in and let them sit for a bit, you will find that they will likely loosen up the pouches so that 2 mags will easily fit in each. In other words, they shrank and you need to stretch them back out a bit. Thanks for well-detailed video and keep them coming.
Old-school safariland love it!. I remember when I was issued a ssiii for my 1911. Got the gun stuck in the holster for 20 mins before I figured out how the system worked. Once I had it down it was probably the fastest level 3 holster that was legit triple retention for the time. Love their stuff but I agree about the fabric especially on the 6280s

I love that early 2000s gear. I find those eagle industries style velcro mag pouches really quick to reload actually. Faster than retention tabs that you have to slide out of the way in my opinion
Yep, double pouches, always load second mag to the rear, if too tight, get them wet and stretch them out with 2 mags and thin wooden shim boards. They'll loosen up. Make it happen or find a way.
LOL Lucas you should totally do a ALICE rig I have a lot of it from growing up as a kid in a military family and I was in the woods with my father, uncles and older brothers all the time and they taught me everything They know, it’s awesome kit and doesn’t break the bank.
I'm a month late here but we called that single point sling setup a "Wolf Tail". They were convenient for being able to lay the rifle under your armpit along your side to free your hands for task. We carried a lot of gear in our kit and not having a rifle blocking it was nice. When you have two PTT's and a Nav board/Smart phone on your chest (in addition to magazines, gerbers, nods pouch, pyro pouch, etc)

Ahhhh yes, the old school kits! You gotta roll up the slack on the loose straps with e-tape 🤌🏼 and with the OG mag pouches, you can leave them open for quicker access, but you have to put styrofoam or something in there so that the mag won’t fly out. Beautiful memories 🤘🏼
Hey Lucas. You should get ahold of Tim Pool's people and give him some weapons training on his show. Your politics might not match completely but his somewhat recent appreciation of the 2A is great for the gun community and would be great exposure for you too. He could use some training and from what I've seen his house could use some better security.
As a veteran, who was only a 91A, I will still take and learn the multiple lessons and skills you teach from gear and rifle load outs to marksmanship. I currently run a Condor MOPC GEN 2 Plate carrier and still swapping around my stuff that fits best. But seared in my head from Basic Training by my Drill Sergeants. Lol I gots to run at least 6 mags on the carrier. No more 8 counts big sarge I got the lesson 🤣. They HATED watching us carry only 3 mags on the front during field training.
My deal with tactical reloads is I'd want the gun up and running before I'm messing with the mag going into a dump. My two cents. Always a fan of the content! Super useful data and info here.
As a kid before shooting a new gun my dad always made me read the manual cover to cover. My uncle got a usp 40 when I was probably 10 so I have been aware of the decocker for 20 years now lol. Reading manuals isn't fun but it can prove to be useful from time to time.
Your point about shooting a plate leaning against a chair is so spot on. Newton's 3rd Law. A real test would be mounting it to a big cedar tree that has the same radius as the curvature of the plate so it's fully supported. This will provide the maximum resistance from any energy transfer to the back stop rather than the plate. Think of it like holding a piece of wood in the air and trying to hammer a nail through it vs providing a solid backing for the wood to drive the nail. One scenario will definitely isolate the material strength of the wood over the other.
Not gonna beat a dead horse but anyone can throw shade about civilian training vs military and what not. But what it comes down to is are you proficient with your firearms or not. Every gun owner should strive to be a little knowledgeable about how to operate their firearm. If you just use that logic, this guy is above and beyond what we all wish we could be. He is better prepared for a gunfight than almost all civilians and several guys in uniform. You can’t hate on that. All you can do is sit back and applaud because he’s on point.
@@brentparks2292 I don't knock progress but a lot of new gear would get absolutely shredded if dudes had to crawl around Afghan rock day in and day out for months. Nothing really beats the old 1000D Cordura, even the issued stuff back then seemed thicker. Then again, our supply wasn't as quick and built up as it is today.

Its funny how Lucas took an Eagle Industries MAP pack and was like "yea just get this cheap backpack!" and im like "CHEAP!?!??!" those things used to be like 250 from LBT. And even then, no one wanted the LBT one, everyone wanted the OG Eagle one. I remember when I scored an eagle map pack in multicam for deployment I was like "HOLY FUCK IM GONNA BE SET BOI!" HAHAHA and I still have it and still rock it on my JPC. MAP packs are my number 1 pack to run I love them. You can literally put anything you need in them

Tactical Tailor made some amazing shit too. our ODA team sergeant had this sick backpack which at the time was revolutionary to me (me being an 11B saw gunner) that clipped onto your PC on the back. you just Molle two clips on top, two clips on the bottom, you fold in the backpack straps and you can just clip this bag on and off. I would just fill up 5 or 6 nut sacks for my saw, throw them in that backpack and roll into villages with that. If I ran out of ammo on my PC, I just unclipped the pack, pulled out more nut sacks, clipped it back on and I was ready to rock again. Still have that one to this day also its actually my work backpack. Too bad its not really a "grey man" pack because its in MC that clearly has afghan dust still in it XD

You can get 2 level 4 plates from botach for about 200, many decent plate carriers are 80-100, and you can get surplus rifle, grenade, radio, etc... pouches for dumb cheap like $5-$20 per pouch at the most. Imo one of the best ways to do a budget build. You can do 2 level 4 or 3+ side plates for like 150-160 if u want too from a few reputable companies depending on if your carrier allows it.
@bomber, no, even having cheap gear can be beneficial over a t shirt with mags dropping out of your pockets. There’s always a place for a low cost setup such as your trunk or behind the seat of a truck. I’d rather have the ability to protect my vitals wearing a Condor or knock off rig carrying plates than a cotton shirt holding zero armor.
Those Eagle Ind. M4 pouches are doubles. You can tell because they have the extra long loop Velcro and extra long flaps to accommodate both single and double mags. Eagle Industries shipped them extra tight. When you first get them you’re supposed to force a pair of STANAGs in there and leave them that way for a couple days. They will stretch out making it easier to insert two mags. ETA: you can also dunk the mag pouches in water with a pair of mags in it and let it dry out. Should dry out even more stretched out.
Hey , i think you should turn this into a series , you could up the budget every video , in my opinion if you do this , you could teach everyone who has a certain type of budjet by posting each video of different budjet , i hope you could turn this into a series as it is one of my favourite video :)
My first pistol was a USP 45 and I had the same issue with proprietary light mount, I keep it cause it was my first and I enjoy shooting it from time to time, but it was a learning experience for sure. I managed to find an adapter for 1913 to mount a light but it won't fit a holster without modding. Speaking of learning experiences, that set up looks like my airsoft kit from way back (except the crotch killing dump pouch lkl)...that strap vs cummerbund and chest mounted holster are things Im glad I figured out back then and ingrained good interferences checks on everything anytime I change even a single thing on gear.
Haha yea, USP decocker is just like a Makarov. Love the vid. I love the old Eagle Industries stuff. I have a couple MAR-CIRAS Carriers that are still some of my top favorites, right behind my First Spear Strandhogg Mbav. That Eagle Industries stuff is just so bulletproof and well built.

@@rjones0429 the sigs usually have a decocker or a safety, in different places. I don’t think I’ve seen a SAO sig with a decocker, or a DA/SA sig with a decocker and a safety
Picked up a UCP camo plate carrier from Blackhawk for $133 on sale back well over 12 years ago. It was made in 2007. Still have it today and still rocking it. I just had to get everything else in UCP camo tho lol but it's all good. Good for urban environments and Canadian winters. Sometime having a basic PC with armor and pouches to carry your stuff is all you need. It might not seem like much but in 2022 with all of this talking about a potential WW3 and seeing civies in Ukraine with nothing but homemade bottles as weapons, having the least amount of tacticool gear is something to be grateful for. Heck even if it's airsoft grade, it's better than nothing.
