Lucas and crew are honestly changing gun culture in America. People are becoming accustomed to the fact that gear is not restricted to the “operators” and military elite, but belongs to the responsibly armed citizens. Further, becoming well versed and competent at arms is the norm. Guns are not just for target shooting and pig hunting.
Unfortunately I’m not a fan of his families hyper religious shit In the background. I do appreciate the production value, but his families shit behind the scenes is wonky
@@Gwiffer As far as I can tell from all the RU-vid videos, Instagram posts, newsletters and podcasts..... Lucas, Isaac, and David are educated, intelligent, hard working men who do tons for not only the 2A community, but for Americans as a whole. I haven't noticed any "religious shit" or Bible thumping in anything I've read, watched, or listened to from the Botkin brothers or T-Rex Arms. What are you referring to?
Budget friendly night vision guide: Step 1: Scout enemy positions in the day. Step 2: Find isolated enemy with NVGs Step 3: Step 4: Profit with your new NVGs
you can use infrared flashlights and cameras a screen maybe some half decent lenses like on a quest 2 it wouldnt see long distances but it would be more than useable
Lucas, you don't need to be self deprecating. I've been in the military for 17 years and you have more knowledge and skill in these areas than 90% of the military. Most of us are specialized into a field that doesn't involve gun fighting. If they're good, it's because they have a passion for it, like you. And you're inspiring people. I'm proud that people like you exist in the US. Keep it up brother.
For everyone who hasn't worn a PVS-14: it's not what the movies make it out to be, it takes days of training and continuous operation to get used to wearing it. You're constantly adjusting it to see at different ranges. You'll spend quite a bit of time tripping and running into things while wearing them.
Been trying to convince those who are the uninitiated of this very fact. But the COD or keyboard warrior experts seem to think the video game is more realistic than real life......... Sad.
We've been messing with the Vamps more recently - really liking the power of those devices compared to what you get out of a Class I illuminator. - Josh
That’s why I love TREX ARMS so much. People want to bitch about him not having served in the Armed Services or Law Enforcement, but he serves every day in the Militia. Both as a man, and as a Marine, it brings good feelings to my heart to see the normalization of our Martial History.
Lucas is why I went from owning pure wooden “fudd” guns to owning decent AR’s, Body Armor, Ballistic Helmet & Nods. Now I’m doing the same with my family and friends. Happy to say I got my brother and cousins of all ages into guns, shooting and now night vision. Btw I’m in CA.
You, John Lovell, Travis Haley and a few others that have put out videos have taught me more in the last 7 to 10 years than the money I've spent going to any local range and or trainer ever. I've honestly learned the most from RU-vid, trial and error, and just honestly filming myself and comparing to what I see here. Thank you
This is an example of how every free citizen should be responsibly prepared. Lucas is not ex-military, but he has made himself considerably dangerous in order to protect freedom. Much respect.
Thing is, if they want to come for you, it's not like they will tell you beforehand. They will just show up at your work and arrest you, pull you over or raid your house. If you decide to resist, your chances of survival are near 0. It's not like your average gun owner will be in a waco shoot out situation where you have like 20 guys and m60's.
So-called operators are incredibly effective with NV because the support logistics at their disposal is surreal. What happens when air support doesn't come to save you? Or you cant call in artillery or a missile to a grid square? Yes, I was in the army, yes I'm speaking from experience. This is LARPing. I wouldn't overthink it.
@@VB-3 That's kinda been my thought on the subject. Not to knock anyone for shooting, training, and supplying themselves; but the military only functions as well as they do because of the logistics backing them.
Budget just means “less than average cost” for example if I wanted to buy a piece of machinery that was $100,000 and I could get a ‘budget’ alternative for $60,000 it’s still expensive, but it’s a budget alternative to the even more expensive option. Night vision is what it is, and it’s expensive 🤷♂️
The NV game is like comparable to intercourse. Even the worst is still pretty cool. You get what you pay for. If the kid still has shoes and chicken nuggets, buy once cry once. I’m dual tube L3 Harris unfilmed white phosphorus deep. Will it be the difference between winning or losing a gun fight idk 🤷🏻♂️ but in my mind I feel all SEAL Team 6. Looking closer to Meal Team 6 is reality, but idgaf🤙🏻
@@jeremyaustin6328 cardio and training is the king in the end. If you can't run and shoot you'll prolly go down by a hi-point. Cardio is definitely one of the most important stuff when it comes to guns
I absolutely love the bluntness in your content and definitely a very realistic view when it comes to weapons and everything that you absolutely need to accomplish a task...
*Me enjoying my PVS-14 thinking I own the night and flexing with it at every opportunity* Lucas: "Here's a setup that will make you somewhat effective at night"
I love what Lucas is doing with nvg content but he's making it look so cool that he's going to inadvertently cause a supply and demand problem Lol. Keep up the good work Lucas.
that glowing suppressor shot was fucking rad, im glad that folks like lucas from trex arms and mike from garand thumb and onward research are spreading their knowledge with freedom lovers like myself :) thanks again lucas
Ive always been pro gun and into firearms, it wasn't until I found this channel did I become interested in and understand the importance of things like body armor, helmets, NVGs, and medical training. I love this channel and T.REX arms.
We are the farmers and merchants of this nation now. We need to step up to today’s technology financially and get this nostalgic feeling that the next home war will be ANYTHING like those 160+ years ago.
Just got rid of our Democrat Gov here in VA. I'm working hard to spread the love and get citizens (friends and family) spooled up locally. Even shot at a competition this year! You can do it wherever you are! Good luck bud! Keep on rocking in the free world.
Leave Arizona build your own community out there got the hole dessert surrounding you just buy a nice chunk of land with nooooooo buddy around for miles on miles and train all night until the sun ☀️ rises
The 15 thumbs down are from those who are just angry about everything. This is one of the coolest ways to film for a night vision video out there. The content is cool too.
You can find deals on blem tubes and get into used units for under 4k, and you can even find used green phos binos for under 5k if you know where to look. But yeah buying new or from a big manufacturer you’ll pay 2300+ for anything gen 3 or photonis echo stuff. Stay away from AGM and other gen 2+ stuff other than photonis echos if you need white phos Edit: my pvs14 cost 1300, gen 3 with a decent blem, got an hhv bump for 200, usgi rhino/jarm combo for 100. So you can get a gen 3 14 with blems and usgi mounts if you are vigilant with looking for stuff. A holosun ls321 has ir illum, ir and vis laser and those can be found for under 600 if you shop around, so you dont need to replace your existing white light with a vamp. Its attainable, if you set your expectations in line.
@@CatholicKit I’ve shopped around, just can’t justify the investment right now. But yes, you can do it for a lot less than 4K. I think the last time I seriously looked into it I was able to pull everything together for around 2k (2200 I think). I threw my comment out there to say what took Lucas 20 minutes to explain. But his point remains that “Budget” is relative when in comes to NV. It’ll cost thousands, not hundreds. Personally, I’m comfortable with my abilities using a white light. It’s acceptable for my situation.
@@colinhess8900 I get it, it just sucks seeing people say that they could never afford this stuff and then keep buying guns they dont need or 3 different pc setups and couldve got there if they had been shopping around and just saved a little more
@@CatholicKit I hear that. Same goes for those who buy this stuff but won’t put a new set of tires or a muffler on their car/truck. Or won’t take care of their house. That’s been my holdup, house renovation. Can’t justify nods when the house needs work.
@@colinhess8900 very very true. People will blow tens of thousands on kit for goin “inna woods” but refuse to save to move out to the country or somewhere safer than their apartment in big cities
Wow that breaks it down well, and I appreciate the candor, no bs. And most importantly your full support of the constitution and not shying away from plainly saying such! Thank you sir
Get GOOD air rifles and handguns. The IZH single stroke pneumatic pistol is Olympic class. The precharged pneumatics are becoming more affordable and more powerful. Black powder has been shut down, primers are non-existent and ammo has stabilized but is double 2019 prices. Get a good hand pump and pellets now. Marksmanship is a perishable skill.
Took a NVG class on borrowed equipment recently. I got home and started buying my own. I'd estimate I paid about equal amount for all the gear (not counting the guns, optics, or silencers) as the NVG unit itself. The IR laser/illuminators were the real pain point, because I wanted more than one. I strongly recommend trying to find a way to try different equipment before you buy. Looking through a variety of NVG and seeing side by side examples of IR devices, helmets, mounts and accessories really helped me decide were to spend and where to save.
@@460FordBronco79 let me tell you something. I used to work at a FFL and the most paranoid goody two shoes stayed compliant. But the majority of folks that I ran into did not give a flying f @ # & %. Especially when it came down to AR's
This video helped me get my first setup for night shooting. Went with the same bump helmet and pvs-14 got the unit for 2600 used has no blems and a spec sheet (green phos but Out in the woods green is better than white imo)and spent 800 on the laser, and the rest on a decent bump helmet, my red dot is already NV rated so I was able to get into night vision for a little under four grand
Considering what nvgs cost a few years back it's still surprisingly affordable. Then again if money's tight, I'm certain that we'll see a lot more affordable options in the near-ish future as "warm" nvgs and other new tech become more commonplace. As always, awesome video guys, keep it up
Sorry for my English, I'm from Ukraine, I used a monocular pvs 14 and I will say it works very well up to 300 m and is very convenient when moving, slightly unmasks the undercut eye.
My first introduction with night vision was running around playing airsoft with a vintage PAS-6 Monoscope clamped to a PVS14 J arm with some hose clamps and ingenuity. Had no idea it was worth more than some of the PVS14s my friends had, but it worked. I couldn’t use it to shoot well at night, but it helped me point out the IR lights from the enemy teams. Even with my father’s PVS14 years later, I found myself using NODs more for observation and ID’ing targets and positions rather than shooting. At the end of the day, it only takes one person to own the night, or in these cases, deny the night.
Honestly, i would love to see Trex Arms start opening ranges across the country for people to train, Im not sure what fees could be charged for that however or legal red tape. Other then that, loved this segment.
Finding a company to insure that endeavour would be challenging. And even if you found one the premiums would be insane. Would not be profitable in the least.
Insurance costs too much to run a range. That’s why almost all ranges you see also sell guns, or they’re state ran. If you’re funding the range purely off memberships you’d have to charge a RIDICULOUS amount/month
Night vision is cool, it’s definitely something we need to normalize. I definitely want to get into it but for most it’s not realistic financially and that’s okay. Just practice with what you have. This is a great video. You made a very great point about support gear that people can take away even if you own night vision or not. You need complimentary gear!!! To many people my age “grow up shooting” and preach 2A stuff on their social media but fail to fully understand it. The 2nd Amendment also give you a responsibility to have the necessary gear to fulfill ones duty to the Constitution. This mean owning some type of load bearing equipment, anything from older USGI gear to what you mentioned Velocity/Mayflower rigs. People talk a lot about micro rigs and I somewhat agree that as civilians we need to carry more mags, water, medical and other sustainment gear like food, shelter, and tools. Most don’t get it. They just think a cheap AR with Amazon red dot and one magazine is enough. I can’t blame them entirely because they just haven’t researched or have come across accounts like this before. I try my best to spread the word. Great video with a great message, Trex Arms will always be my favorite company because of videos like this. Helping the 2A from every direction. God Bless🇺🇸
Yeah like its one of those thing you want to get into soooooo bad but i mean its more money than what most people spend on their cars… and you MIGHTTTT use it .1% of the time… ha
It’s a necessity to truly be fight ready with today’s tech. Like he said, if you preach 2A and readiness then actually BE ready. 2500-3500 is NOT out of ANYONEs realm in this country that isn’t homeless. It may take you 6mos to a year to save it but that 6 mos to a year is gonna come an go. How many 6 mos and years have you missed saying, “I want it but…”. You’d have 2 by now probably. How many guns you got (don’t answer lol)? How many can you shoot at once? People need to focus more on their loadout than collecting a bunch of shit that isn’t even collectors guns. ESPECIALLY if you’re claiming to do it for the purposes of defending this nation. Defend from who in your scenario in your head? China? Russia? They have NVGs. If you don’t have them, you aren’t welcome to fight next to me. I need people that to come to class with all their supplies when it’s life or death.
While I don't disagree, the King of Kenosha did just fine with his Amazon red dot. And there were guys out there that night in full kit who did nothing to back him up.
I really agree with Lucas on his point about how a majority of ranges suck! I have plans to open a range like his in the far future. For now I'll just go out to the wilderness and train.
@@terrybogard21 yea if that’s your budget. Now that l3 released the pvs31’s officially that’s another good one. Allegedly l3 reserves the choice tubes for the 31’s.
You need some KVC. We got a new LW model that is pretty sweet. It is a bastard to build, but you don’t need to worry about that. They are QD NV for rifle mounting.
Lucas, thank you for putting all of this effort in your videos. You've been able to really inform our community with your knowledge and its greatly appreciated sir.
I've actually managed to create a fairly functional setup with my headband style earpro inside my HHV poor helmet. I just removed the center padding where the headband goes, padded out the rest to make it fit snugly, and got the chin strap adjustment just right and it works for me. I did not know about the neckband style earpro though. Definitely looking into that as a better option.
yep, i did the same with my replica ops-core and howards leight and it works fairly well. It can get uncomfortable after a few hours of wearing but well most of the times you won't wear it that long anyway
Been saving up for a good PVS-14 setup for a while. Two months ago, I had a disc herniate and start pushing against my spinal cord which ultimately needed back surgery. Finally got all the hospital bills, office visit bills, surgery charges, etc. added up and paid today for a grand total of... $4100. There went my night vision.
Really sorry about the back issues. I can relate. The first dr. to work on me put me in a wheelchair. Effing drunk! With all the modern procedures, I hope You make a full recovery. GOD Bless You.
As someone that just bought multiple surefire cans, I'd really REALLY like to know your "secret ingredient" for not paying the unconstitutional tax stamp.
I'm glad I got my helmets about 4 years ago before Lucas started blabbing about my secret store (EBAY) and driving up the prices and nothing good was left. All jokes aside I'm I'm glad more people are educating themselves further because of these videos.
I thought the very end was going to show him taking a digger with the single tube to the face, which would explain the black eye and cut lol. Keep up the good work T-Rex Arms family 🇺🇲💪.
I run a ATN GEN 2+ HPT pvs-7 with zero blems and a skullcrusher (used) - $1100, Zenitco full-power Laser/Illuminator (new/deal) - $900. In total with shipping it was about 2.2k with shipping. If I just wanted the laser with no illum it would have been about $1600. Saying that you need 4k to get a usable or "decent" setup is kinda stretching it. I'll give everyone a tip about NVGs, having ANY ability to see at night is better than having 0. while a light is great..it also informs EVERYONE where you are and what you are looking at. My suggestion is do your research, find used but decent tubes, and don't think you need the best "elite" set up. Remember, the Taliban still hold Afghanistan and I don't recall seeing them with pano-vision lol.
I really like your course. You guys run it well. The only thing I noticed is when you go to the left side of a baracade you stick a lot of your body out instead of switching to left handed shooting. I guess with a signle tube it makes sense. You are still my favorite 2A nerd. 😄
Digital night vision is a lot cheaper than analog. It won't cost thousands and won't be good for a gun fight, but it is a good budget option for surveillance at night.
Question for anyone with experience: With your NOD experience, assuming roughly the same budget range, would you recommend a high quality single tube (i.e. L3 unfilmed white w/ higher specs) or duals with lower end tubes (i.e. RNVG w/ photis green basic tubes). It seems you can get into both systems for roughly the 5k range but Im not sure which is more of a priority quantity vs quality in this type of instance. I live in and am LEO in urban/suburban south florida so that would be my main usage environment
Good job Lucus letting ppl know what all it takes to get kit to fulfill a mission. I knew it was going to be 10-13k going in. However what isn't stressed enough anywhere is team. The "whatever" that will present itself as a threat will most likely be out in force. 1 or 2 well trained and equipped individuals will be at a great disadvantage. But then again what I have seen over my many years is that every time any like minded group is formed there is always infiltration of said group by those that are on a payroll, let's just say, they are on the "other team" Thoughts on this.
