I build a super inexpensive cabin on a very tight budget of just $7 using reclaimed materials and a few fasteners, bolts and threaded rod.
Join us as we show you how to build a tiny cabin in the woods for a super low cost. All this can be done with a drill and screws, or a hammer and nails, a handsaw, circular saw, or chainsaw. We will also build a table, chair, and full bed!
The cabin sleeps 1 comfortably, but it's possible to get one more. If no stove is necessary, it's super easy to get one more person inside the tent, but there needs to be enough space behind the stove so the plastic doesn't melt.
If you decide to build this shelter, be sure to keep safety in mind and use a smoke detector.

"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.

The magic of your channel is using your particular skillset taking what most people would consider waste material and making something incredibly useful out of it. Or, in the case of the threaded rod, saving hundreds of dollars on a build by using the small bits as custom carriage bolts. Lastly, many of us overthink the problem. You jump in, and learn as you go and achieve amazing productivity. Well done Kevin.

YOU are going on and on about there not being enough time in a winter day to get ready to do stuff. (Well, you said it made the daylight hours shorter.) Don: '...and the days ARE getting shorter."😊 Count on Don to be 'down to earth.' In my experience, growing up on a farm, it is easy to think there is 'stuff just lying around' because there is. HOWEVER that 'stuff' does have value: the trees, the equipment that appears to be idle but only has so many hours of useful operating life, and so on. I built my first cabin using rails from fencing we replaced with electric wire, lumber from a small barn my grandmother wanted taken down and a honking big surplus of roofing nails my grandfather kept on hand for 'whenever.'

Good thing that tarp was ribbed for your using pleasure. :P Have you ever thought of using thermal blankets for concrete steam beds? 2.5 inches of insulation and waterproof makes for a super warm shelter. When i worked in a concrete yard in the winter we always built a warm room out of them for break time.

Not taking anything from either of those channels, but I don't find their content as entertaining as it once was (read as ASMR / Sponsorships don't make for good content). MSR, however, seems to really hit the sweet spot of paying the bills and providing quality entertaining content. Well done Kevin, the student has become the master. “ Too cold to think about words of wisdom” … initially I smiled at this comment … however upon thinking about it this statement is correct … there are certain optimal conditions required to be wise and rational … Thus lesson here is before you embark on any adventure think and prepare in your mind what you would do in certain situations … (for survival or safety, for example) like lodging it your mind for later recovery, when circumstances may prevent wisdom and rational thought ! Hey New title of “Wisdom Holder” goes to you Kevin ! 😅 “ Cold is revenge “is funny tho ! … Lovely wee cabin … well done Kev and Don ! 🙏☘️😘

You should look into making a completely off grid trailer. With a sink, bathroom/shower and electricity. I was working on building a motorhome that used the grey water through a charcoal filter and UV light to use in the shower that pulled in 2 gallons and had a hot water on demand system at the shower head to heat the water plays a reclaimation tank in the shower floor that allowed me to shower for as long as I wanted. The the black tank was going to be set up as a mathane production system that would produce the gas for cooking and heating during the winter. Plus solar for all the electrical. It would be cool to see what you would come up with
