I looked online for the Mille Miglia images , and not all these cars appear to have had a double bubble in period photos, which goes against all I thought about Zagato. Maybe as was said, it was converted later to a more Zagato roof style. Richard said that this was a series and they all had slight variations.
I'm such a sucker for a Zagato bodied car. That thing is gorgeous! I was referring to the Alfa, but the Lancia is stunning too. I'm pleased that I recognized both Fangio and the Tatra as soon as they appeared.
Richard. You're constant love, knowledge and passion of these icons of the motor industry keep us firmly up to date of what is happening in the historic world . Thankyou
Its amazing how well RM has done over the years. From a small restoration shop in the sleepy farming town of Chatham Ontario to RM/Sotheby's. Amazing. Congrats Mr. Myers.
Very professional , infromative RU-vid Channel presentation of these rare automotive masterpieces....Looking forward to your coverage, of this years Pebble Beach Concourse d' Elegance, and the Quail on the Monterey Peninsula.. ...T.Y. in advance.. Subbed, and always a thumbs up!
Great video. Loved the Maseratis and the Healey 100M was a beautiful car. Unfortunately I missed a museum exhibit of Healey cars and memorabilia in Warwick only 30 mins away from where I live where Healeys were originally built which was on last year. Gutted to find out about it too late!
A fantastic walk-around of some sensational cars. Thank you for giving others such as myself a glimpse of shows we would never otherwise get to experience.
That sales figure was SEVENTY MILLION DOLLARS; not Seven Million🤔. More importantly for us, you provided a fine overview of some of the highlight vehicles in the auction, including many most of us will never see! THANK YOU!😍
Hello Richard, interesting to see the centre locking wheel nuts on the Jaguar XJ15, are a different colour on each side. I'm guessing it's because they are fitted with directional tyres !!! Great video.
Very likely the coloured nuts are threaded right hand on the right side (blue) and left hand threaded on the left side) This prevents them from loosening themselves due to forward rotation. A practice that began in the horse drawn carriage era. Wire wheel knock-offs are similarly left and right hand threaded which is why most offer an embossed "UNDO" with an arrow so you know which direction to whack it with the mallet.
Boy, a tough call for us Jag-You-Are/Alfa guys. The gorgeous gold Jag or the very unique Zagato Alfa. And then, the Maser 53 sports racer that looks like red molten metal in motion. Holy Moly! Another great vid Richard, thanks so much!
Thank you for the wonderful presentation of each of these iconic examples of automotive art!! My cousin and I "kind of snuck in"... as the auction was live just to gawk at all of these cars under the tents... Hearing your expertise on these beauties certainly makes me appreciate all of them even more! Thanks again!
Old, car "joke"; take a car that is worth, say, $350,000, put a $1,000,000 resteration into it, and you NOW have a car that is worth $350,000. Plug in your own relevant numbers.
Thanks Richard, your passion & enthusiasm clear from the intro. The Austin my favourite car of all. I've just had two Ford 427 engines restored for my Chris Craft boat at $30K each. The Austin seemed expensive at $200+K but I'd shudder to think what that restoration cost all in.
As many have said, a beautiful presentation only eclipsed by the automobiles themselves. Thank you Richard! P.S.: "SPECTRE" license plate on the DB4. LOL!
I love this video, but in the spirit of good-humored, friendly gotcha, I'll point out that a successor by definition comes after the original. (Hint, you were referencing a red Maserati) Just shows how closely a fellow geek listens. Enjoy you summer on VCI
I suggest you listen to how the people who actually make the cars pronounce their names and not just have a guess as a North American, which is usually wrong and really annoys everyone who knows the correct names. It is a pity as this trait spoils the fact that you usually know quite a lot about the cars you present. By the way, drop--head cars that have winde-up windows are convertibles and not roadsters which do not have fitted windows.
