Plasma Gun There will always be a way to tell if it's a fake because it will always have Android installed, since it's incredibly difficult to install actual iOS firmware on a device with parts that aren't made by Apple. Sure, there are software that claims you can dual-boot "iOS" but in reality it's only an Android app that tries to emulate the iOS experience. But with that said, it *shouldn't* be impossible. It's just the sheer difficulty of doing so because of Apple's tightly closed ecosystem that will turn many people away from attempting this.

I think some people do just buy these to have a slight experience of an iPhone without paying iPhone price or risking by buying a refurbished or pre-owned iPhone, especially if it's a clone of the newest model
