@@HOBOTECH Their customer service rep gifted me the 15% discount in response to my asking them why the coupon's value decreased from last week to this weekend. Sweet!
Ha, got you. The oupes 1200w ran my large Keurig just fine. Question, if it charges to fast does that mean the battery won't last as long? My Oupes charged in 3.5 hours from 0 to 100 per sent using the included power brick.
Got the 1800 2 weeks ago. Using it daily on construction site. Runs my toaster oven for lunch. It stays in the back seat of my truck. It charges my dewalt batteries and runs 2 40 watt led lights. I'm saving 5.00 a day not buying gas for my generator. Everyone talks about camping and charging their laptop. I don't hear much about their use in construction.
I just got this after watching your video. I tested it and it will run my full size fridge for well over 10 hours even without the solar panels hooked up.
This company is doing a good job of refining their power stations. The Oupes 1100w I got a few months ago had a slightly smaller inverter, but almost everything else is the same. One interesting thing is that mine does allow charging through the PD outlet.
Thanks for another nice review. I'd like to point out some differences that I've noticed since having to return my Oupes 1100W power station, and they replaced it with the newer 1200W version. In spite of the marketed 'overvoltage and overload protection' circuits of the unit, my 12V circuit was permanently fried by my plugging in a car tire inflator pump to it (draws up to 25A, instead of the listed max of 10A for the 12V ports). Oupes tech support told me that some devices spike their current demand so quickly that the overload protection software can't shut it down quickly enough, and results in a ruined 12V circuit. Nice to find that out! (I recommended to them putting this in bold print in the user manual, as well as on a decal near the 12V ports on the battery). WIth the new replacement 1200W unit, differences that I've noted (aside from not being able to charge via the 60W PD port as noted in another comment) are the following: 1) The 1100W unit's display turned on completely (all 3 zones) when you turn on the battery, even if DC and AC zones are turned off. On the left zone, 99 will be displayed, and for the 2 right-side zones, 00 will be displayed for both the input and output watts. Both of these zones remain dark on the 1200W unit, until you turn on an AC or DC zone. 2) The display stayed on longer before turning off on the 1100W unit than on the 1200W one. It would still be good if they offered an override to leave it on permanently, as it draws so little current. 3) The 1100W unit has a feature on the display where it will tell you the hours and minutes remaining until the unit will be fully charged, which would auto-adjust for when you were charging (via AC or solar) and discharging at the same time. A very useful feature which appears to have been removed on the 1200W unit. I wrote to Oupes support about it, and they could or would not explain why this was removed. 4) With the 1100W unit, when the fan would come on, it would do so softly, and remained a very soft noise, which did not bother me. With the new 1200W unit, each time the fan comes on, it blasts very loudly for about 5 seconds, and then becomes softer, but not quite as soft as the 1100W unit. This will be very bothersome while camping and running the fridge overnight, as the loud blast of fan noise will likely wake me up each time it comes on. 5) When I tested the 1200W unit vs the 1100W unit by plugging in a 110W solar panel to each of them, back and forth, in slightly hazy early day sun, I got an average of 44W input from the 1100W battery, and only 28W from the 1200W battery. 6) While a number of reviewers have commented that they did not detect any sort of 'eco' auto-shut-off feature that would turn off the battery when no current had been drawn for a number of hours, I have found that this does happen (with the 1100W unit, haven't tested the 1200W one yet) when cold-weather camping where night time temps were lower than that you have set your 12V fridge to, and so the compressor never needed to turn on for 12 hrs or so. Numerous mornings, I found that the battery had turned itself off and needed to be restarted. If I hadn't found that, my food would have spoiled in the afternoon heat. 7) It's a small thing, but the 12V 'cigarette' socket cover on the new 1200W unit won't stay closed, just falls open when you close it. It closed perfectly on the old unit. I would like to point out that Oupes tech support has been responsive and generally helpful, although did not answer some specific questions that I had asked. I'm going to see if they will take back my new 1200W unit and send me one of the old 1100W ones, which seems to work better and have more features.
Mine just arrived today, and yes, the silent charge and lit-up screen on the Jackery has me spoiled but the price was right for what I bought this for. Thanks again for your review!
I absolutely love that I can watch your videos for all that juicy product information and real world tests, which is like like other channels, but only with you do I find myself guffawing numerous times in the process. Thanks for that, and keep being you.
I just bought the solar panel + power station combo and with your discount code was $1,105! Great price and thanks for doing these reviews. So helpful and thankful.
I have an Ecoflow River Pro, and one of the first things I did with it was turn of the quick charging feature. To me, that is more an a continguancy feature, to be used when you have an extended period without strong sun, and it is getting low on charge. It is not hard to find a place to plug it in for an hour or so to get it up close to capacity. But in normal day-to-day usage, you would be a fool to use the quick charge capaablity, in my own humble opinion, of course. :-)
@@jimneumann6099 quick charging NMC batteries reduces the number of cycles the battery can take over the life of the battery. They probably added the feature as a sales differentiator but as Farrell says. You really shouldn't use it unless you have to
Thank You HOBOTECH .. after almost an entire week of cramming every vid I could about the various sogens from 500 to 1200wh .. I settled with this one w/200 solar .. price coming in at 1,170 with your discount ... Still such a good deal
Hobotech, thank you so much for your detailed review on the Oupes 1200W solar generator/power station. Was wondering if you might be alsoplanning on reviewing the Oupes 1800W solar generator too? Thanks!
Good review 👍 I bought one of these (the new 1200w unit) 3 weeks ago, and at that time they had a sale price of $680 with free shipping, so I got a great deal from Oupes, I’ve been using it for a week now, and I’m very happy with it . . . I would definitely recommend this unit 👍
Joe Bloe . . . Come on man I know what I got, and it wasn’t the older stock, it was the new 1200w unit, if they would have sent me the 1100w unit I would have sent it back
Hey Hobo finally started my nomad life and one of my goals is to meet YOU. Your awesome and I’m a huge fan, I’m in Williams AZ and hope someday I get the chance to meet your awesome self. Sending love,
Hey Hobotech I like watching your videos. Much better reviews than any others out there. One thing issue with this one is that you state their website states it’s UL Listed. I did a little checking and even contacted them since it is lithium batteries and we all remember the Samsung Note 7 fires. They sent me a UL certificate of compliance but when I researched it that was only for the AC power adapter and had nothing whatsoever to do with the battery power station. A tear down of these would be great for us geeks to see what’s inside and close ups of the various labels and Listings along with model numbers so we can do more of our own research before dropping some hard earned money based on your review.
Great review! I'm surprised that the PD60 is unidirectional. Love my Oupes 600! 100+ watts charging through the 8mm port (I see 107 watts often), and 60 watts through bidirectional PD60 port. It inspired me to build my own 920wh power station, with 2 36ah 12v LifePO4 batteries in parallel. I put a 300 watt Powerwerx solar charge controller on it, and 3 120 watt folding panels charge me up in no time. :)
Yeah, I thought lithium iron batteries self regulated the 12 volt outlet, not requiring added circuitry. It would be interesting to know the story behind that. So, if I understand, this Oupes will provide a sustained 10.9 amps from the 110 outlet? Thanks Tom, these detailed reviews are a must watch.
The tension I experience during the DC capacity test has upset me to my core. I am LITERALLY out of my mind now. The DC test LITERALLY gave me shingles, enlarged heart, asbestos poisoning, literally you enlarged my carbon footprint, which means I’m still LITERALLY feeling dead. My mom said “Karen you look awful, you look LITERALLY dead. 🤣😂🤣 Thanks for the video HT .
If anyone is having a problem keeping the 12 V flap closed push a 15 mm socket inside the rubber cap keep it there for two days and when you remove it it will be stretched out enough so the cap works perfect and stays closed.
bought one of these 2 years ago. It worked fine when I first got it. The main use was for during power outages due to hurricanes here in Florida. Last year when I took it out to make sure it was ready for the hurricane season. It wouldn't turn on, even though is said 100% charged. I left it charging overnight and tried again the next day. Still no luck. I tried contacting Oupes but their answers did not solve the problem. I think it's just a faulty on/off switch as it will turn on for 2-3 seconds then turn off. I'm sticking with Jackery.
Really why does this app put 30 minutes of ads for a 20 minute video? Great video by the way HOBO ..I try watching ads but I forgot everything you said and had to go back a bit to get the meaning put together..thanks to you I got the BLUE. I like your videos and learn a lot keep them coming..
I'm keeping up on these things out of curiosity but for myself - since I overwhelmingly need to power DC stuff (12VDC refrigerator, LED lighting, etc.) I've gone with 12.8V LiFePO4 batteries (a 30AH and a 12AH currently, probably more to come) with a fused XT60 female pigtail and a set of adapters from that to anything I want to power, including a USB charger. Charging is via an M8S from ToolkitRC that does a great job and is both nerdy configurable and comes with rational defaults for easy use. I realize this isn't for everyone - I wanted to put my money into battery capacity rather than an inverter I simply don't need. But even if someone loves their SoGen/PowerStation - having a separate basic LFP battery for something like a DC fridge might still make sense.
Have had mine about 4 months and love I can charge my IPad and use it at the same time have two led light it runs all of them and charges at the same time I got mine for $818 with taxes I charged it one time with the new harbor freight 100w 24v it charged fast but it kicked the fan on glad you said it could handle 24v with a renogy 100w it brings in 104w you do a great job on you videos keep it up got a question do I need to bring my lifepo4 battery’s down to zero once a month thank you for your answer
Great review! I received mine today. bought it with the hobotech code. Hope they are giving you a commission. Runs my zuroshi rice cooker maxes out at 600 watts despite label saying it's 900. Made 3 cups sushi rice from 100% to 81%. Ran my Ninja airfryer/crockpot maxed out at 1200ish watts despite 1400 on the label. Tested it on multiple settings on my Breveille smart oven listed at 1800 watts. Broils at 1200 watts ok, bakes at 1200 watts ok, toast failed with overload at 1460 watts. Perfect sweat spot inverter size for house hold appliances. Anyone else notice that it does not seem to stop charging at 100%? Should i be concerned?
love your videos the way you put these products through rigorous testing I always try to tell people about your channel I'm also curious if you've ever reviewed a 4Patriots product I see ads before your videos and other similar channels videos about their power stations solar panels etc. just wondering
Great review. If I was looking for something at this price point, this would be a definite contender. However, I am looking for something in the $550 or less price point. Currently waiting to see if the eb70s will go on sale but also interested to see if there is a better solar generator available at that price point.
Thanks for another great review. I ran into problems making the purchase due to the OUPES direct billing process involving multiple countries, including Malta. I could go through Amazon but the billing problem made me wonder what support would be like? I found another review that also liked the OUPES as an inexpensive solution other than a few build quality details. Still decided how to go forward now.
Wrote this company an email with a simple question, no response. That tells me allot about their service right there. Let's put it this way, Bluetti EB70 should be arriving shortly.
Thanks for the review and entertainment factor. Been looking for a smaller LFP unit that still has a descent inverter capacity. Appreciate the code, I may go for the bigger brother to this one. Take care!
Well Mr Hobo another great one. Ive always noticed, You don’t miss a beat in your presentations. I finally figured it out. 💥💥 can’t wait till the next one. 💯🎩 you keep calling them little guys they just might show up 🤣🤣
I have two of these and two of the 600 watt units as well. Lots of bang for the buck. The 600s have a bidirectional PD port that allows for simultaneous charging through it and the 8mm charging port. I would be curious about a DC load capacity test on the smaller unit….
OUPES 1200 If along with a 150W solar panel, we also connect a 100W wind turbine, with one cable (GINTOOYUN DC7909 Y Splitter Adapter Cable 14AWG DC 8mm 1 Male to 2 Female Power) both 12V, in your opinion we will have a problem? do not exceed 30 volts, which has a limit of 1200, and I do not understand where the problem will be, if they both charge the station!! The Company gives a 240W solar panel, so I don't think I have a problem, unless I exceed 30 Volts! Both together are 24 Volts. . . . . . I want to charge, even when there is no sun, but only wind.
Key question. Will it stay engaged with a device that doesn't ask for continuous draw, like a portable fridge with a compressor that cycles on and off. I know from experience that Bluetti just shuts off when the fridge compressor isn't drawing power.
Great review as always. Dilemma: Bluetti AC200P Vs Oupes 1800W. Is the AC200P still the better value at roughly $300 more than the Oupes 1800W? I simply need a back up for my chest freezer and fridge for when I lose power in my home. Running the modem and router would be nice to.
I would choose the Oupes 1800. It has a great WattHours as tested and is more portable (weight) so has lots of practical uses when you throw it in the car for camping
i guess that the 12v regulation is for ldecrease any voltage sagging when use all ports and might give less quality in other ports!!!!,, but its just a guess,, it sure can make it withstand a sagging with more mosfets and parts but they kept cost low
Just make sure it works well with your solar panels because I'm having issues with my smaller unit. They said they were gonna test their own cables / make their own cables or something like that. I havent had time to really dig in with testing but sometimes my smaller one charges from a 100 watt renogy / HQST / Renogy Eclipse panel and sometimes it doesnt. I dont have that voltage equipement so Im a bit limited, ill get back to it soon.
OMGSH! Where have you been (since I started dreaming about nomadic existence via solar energy lol) GREAT video, great presentation, FANTABULOuS information! You have saved me from the drudgery of reading "Solar Generators For IDIOTS"! THANK YOU! BLESSINGS to you & yours!
So im new to solar generators. I bought the OUPES 1800. My Question is this. Do these batteries have a memory? Do i have to drain it all the way before i charge it again? Thanks.
Great review, I went out a purchased the unit and used your discount code and it worked fine. Received the unit today, charged it for about 7 hours until 100%. I was going to be using the unit this weekend so I first tested it with my 300W electric blanket. It said I had 11 hours of run time. About 10 seconds into the test there was a flash of light, loud crackling sound and smoke. I quickly turned off the unit and had an error code of 0004. I turned the unit back on and pushed the 120 v output button with no blanket plugged in. Once again there was a flash, crackle, & smoke. I just sent off an email to their warranty department since they said I have 30 days to get a replacement unit. I will now see if they will charge for shipping, and honor their warranty. Update: the manufacturer came through! They paid for return shipping, and sent me a new unit.
Do you speak Burgheez? Do you use a wish cloth or a wash cloth? Do you like chipped ham barbecues? Or just chipped ham? I appreciate you and the solar reviews. I've learned alot watching you. Hugs to Odin please.
I found a 700watt microwave i may get so i can heat up food on my next trip! i have a Road pro pan which works great ,i will keep as a backup! thanks for your video!!
I need you’re awesome, amazing and professional opinion hobo which portable power battery pack should I choose I’m looking at 500 W hours somewhere in that range maybe a little more if the product is better let me know what you think what’s your favorite
Thanks for the review, what would you recommend if you are out of power for more than a week and need to power fridge and household appliances with solar?
He has done many reviews on larger units. I actually bought an 1800W Oupes and it runs my fridge for one day. I also have a couple of smaller units so I can run out and solar charge them, then recharge the Oupes while it is running the fridge. Also bought solar extension cables so I could charge the Oupes by running cables our my kitchen window to solar panels once I get that set up. However - I am not in a private secure yard, so leaving things out is not always a good option! So I am working on what way is best to do this.
I have the Oupes 600 watt unit and you can charge through the USB C 60 watt port. Not sure why the unit you reviewed could not be charged via the USB C port.
I am currently in the market for a 1kwish power station and this looks fairly appealing. But I look at this and its closest competitor right this second is the bluetti 1500wh 1kw. The bluetti is 799 on amazon. I feel like the bluetti although slightly more expensive is the better deal. Anyone have any thoughts or see anything I am overlooking? Thanks.
Always seek out your reviews. No YT reviewer is more thorough, usually. In this case, though, I'm left with the question, " How does this unit work on AC and DC with a refrigerator of each type?". Will it power them and does it shut itself off when the 'frige's compressor shuts down and then fail to restart the unit as it warms up? You usually cover that, but didn't this time.
Hello Hobotech, In your opinion, for off-grid applications such as camping and back-up power situations around the home do you think that with the more advanced technology of the Oupes 1200 over the older, outdated Echoflow Delta 1300 is the better choice between the two ?
The Bluetti EB120 is now cheaper than the Oupes. I think Oupes made an oops with their pricing. They would have had a nice sweet spot within the $600-650 range. Just saying. Go figure...
