I believe SoGen companies have been almost forced to make improvements in their products because of you, Hobo. You do thorough competent testing, expose the flaws & weaknesses, highlight the pros & positive features, all while educating your audience. You also field test units for durability 👍 You've created a more savvy SoGen consumer that's not impressed by the gloss over vids (which I don't waste my time with), and wanting the truth about products. Your work & dedication are very appreciated. Thank you. Give Odin a behind the ear scratch for me. He's a cutie.

Always appreciate the comprehensive testing (comedy included). Don't ever stop. :) Question: Is there any (high) parasitic draw? Like if you let it sit there for a week with no active charging will it deplete? Would be nice if you could include this to your testing. I know it takes more time but would be nice to know.

Of course it's your channel and your time so obviously you can do what you want with it, but I greatly appreciate your 'long' and thorough reviews/tests. I swear that the majority of "Sol-Gen" companies out there don't actually test their final products! I'm also in agreement with another comment that was made here somewhere: I believe that you have grown popular enough that these companies actually pay attention to what you say! And to me that is priceless. And of course the comedy (and the "Hobo" character 😁) are a great addition to what otherwise could just be dry information. So for me, keep up the great work and I'll keep watching.

As you reveal, they have some bugs to work out, but great basic power and form factor. My one pet peeve is needed 3 face access, which is going to eat up space in a van/ camper set up. Even in a tight apartment. You can't just put it on a shelf and put other things near it, no matter which way you orient it. With its back to the wall, you still need to work with both ends. Hence the compromise of the lazy Susan, which is not ideal. The gen Z review is priceless. :-) Only thing missing is the smily girl in her bathing suit. Do greatly appreciate REAL reviews.

We need these thorough reviews. I remember when I first started and I was like, if I can't do a Hobotech style review then why bother. That's why I don't do reviews. You can't sit with a product and plug some stuff in and call it a review, I mean you can but not a comprehensive one.... You set the bar high Sir. I did like the shorter intro style videos you tried with the EFD Pro but that's just me.

I love the videos you do, been watching your channel a lot recently since discovering you and I’ve also purchase one of the vigorpool units last week because of your channel. One thing to note when you said that most of us won’t exceed 2200 watts on a single socket, 3KW kettles are very common in the UK so I appreciate your over demand testing.

The wonky charging characteristic is a function of how the mppt charge controller works. (Maximum power point tracking) the concept is it uses algorithms to find the most power by adjusting the voltage. It is trying find more current by adjusting the voltage on something that is designed to be fixed voltage(your dc charger set at a single voltage) . The MPPT is trying to change the voltage and the charger is trying to keep it fixed so they are fighting each other causing weird readings. This works great and gives you the most current from your solar array where voltage is constantly changing due to clouds / sun position etc. I’m not an expert that’s just my understanding as I’ve experienced this issue and researched. I love your videos keep em coming :)

Nice review. Looks like the dc solar inputs are limited to 10A per port and 25A total over the 3 ports. I wish they would provide these details when sending out units, but it should just limit the maximum and not reset the mppt constantly. I’m also not sure we get all those cables unless we get the solar panels from them. Looks like a few bugs to iron out.

Regarding the resetting input, my first Leoch powerstation did that when I connected it to my Tesla model Y 12 V power port (it charged normally using the other inputs). The replacement unit charged normally from all inputs.

Regarding the problem charging with a power supply through the MPPT solar port, I can probably shed some light on that. I have no experience with these solar generators, but I have a lot experience with standalone MPPT controllers. Basically they all do not work with a power supply, some do but probably just by chance rather than by design. It has to do with the MPPT algorithm, as you might know this algorithm loads the power source (solar panels) dragging down the voltage to find the maximum power point. The problem is, with a power supply, the MPPT algorithm usually drags it down so low it will trip the protection in the PSU causing a it to shut off, and then back on again. This just loops over, and over.

Did any one else go for this? I can finally use my PA with this one hopefully. It sounded very quiet. I think I can use my Jackery 1500 for lighting. My question is should I go with 400 or 200 watt panels?????

Just checked out a bluetti AC300 / 2200w lifePO4 - 3500 cycle battery / with 4 AC plug sockets / trouble is it's 2800 bucks in US money or £1859. Way more expensive here in the UK.

I prefer to wire my solar panels in series. It’s more efficient. This unit needs at least 250w input from Solar. Tear it open! Is there quality parts inside?

You've earned a subscriber with the "hiccup music"; love the sense of humor. I just found BIGBLUE CellPower2500w out of the blue. Trying to decide between this or the BigBlue 500w (w/ a limited time $150 discount). Some camping, may need to run a laptop and mobile hotspot. 2500w seems like too much. I wish all the output connections were on one (end) side of the unit with the display and power button on there too. it looks like you're gonna have to move or rotate that unit often if you ever want to unplug something on either side or leave a s/ton of room for access to both sides. (which might be intentional to not block the vents.) Missing the flashlight strobe feature big time.

Personally since I will be going into trucking this interested me until I heard 3 things: touch screen, app, and GPS + radio. All of these (to me) seem like they would be a constant power draw and lowering performance, not to mention not something I would overly need considering how it would be used. Currently I am looking at something like the 70mai Power Station Tera 1000 but I wish it had a slightly bigger battery, but given its size and cost getting 2 wouldn't be out of the question either.

The GPS receiver shouldn't transmit your location unless you press the emergency button. You could, I suppose, borrow a spectrum analyzer to see if it's always transmitting, but I would be surprised if that's the case.
