GUYS. Im sorry! UMG took down 4 of the songs in this video. I thought since the clips were short and used as samples that I would be fine. Turns out no. If you experience holes in sound on a few demos that is why. Sorry for the trouble.
"We gave 8 cents on the dollar to these artists, as we monopolize the means to effective distribution, therefore we own them. You're advertising brief clips no one would seek out to hear in lieu of buying the song or hearing it in full elsewhere on youtube. Want to see my 800 foot yacht?"
@@goober-ll1wx no it just means that the more expensive one has specs that are a but higher and some features and qualaties that others dont have or are hard to get but its just a preference
A middle class car will bring you in a very good way from point a to b, but you will not be able to win a F1 race with this car. It is like UWQHD Gaming with above 144 Hz and Ultra Settings on a perfect calibrated monitor. The limit is expensive. Or drinking a Glass of 1937 Domain Romaneé Conti instead of a good spanish red wine. Wearing a Patek Grande Complication watch and a Kiton suit instead of a normal Longines and a Hugo Boss suit. The truth is: Most humans could not afford the best of the best. Most humans listen to compressed spotify files or compressed YT Vids. It is all about the last 5%. Dali Zensor 3 are fine speakers, which will satisfy any human being up to 95%. The price increases rapidly above the 95% with 20.000 $ silver speaker cables, the rare japanese vinyl pressing, the Transrotor Artus FMD, MCIntosh Amplifiers and a perfect pair of speakers. By the way - Active Geithain Speakers are the best ones, I have ever listen to. I love the purity of the MEG sound. But I can not afford 'em. I got Dali Speakers. Am I unhappy or envy? No, because many human beings are struggeling with real poverty and hunger, as I did in my early years. But I love to dream about the limits. :)
@@goober-ll1wx I'm an electrical engineer. I was in one of my co-worker's office and I noticed that he had a copy of one of the audiophile magazines on his desk. When I asked him about it, he said he subscribed to it for laughs - he couldn't believe how much people paid for pure quackery.
Ah, but how much of each and where to put it is where the cost comes from. ;) 20 years ago I took $800 in high end components, used 2 different box building programs (to cross-check my work), and built MTM's that sounded as good as anything under $5k at the time. Rich snobby people like exclusivity and bragging rights. I like music. I built amazing sounding speakers which have always sounded amazing regardless of the room size.
MotivatedMetalworks oh god music is like food as restaurants is like speakers. It’s not only how good the food is but how it presented, looks, feel, the experience of it all and yes even the name of it. It’s just how it is when you go up the price point.
The soundstage was like you were transformed into the recording studio or into a live concert. i have never experienced anything like that before. really cool to hear them in person
yes. You can be a samsung bluetooth speaker fan and can still appreciate the quality and refinement from some of these outrageously priced speakers. I say outrageous because it is multiples of $$$ beyond my comforts in spending. For some people spending that much on speakers is normal. Just like how we have ultra expensive cars. For some people thats normal. Some of these did have justifiable means for their price in terms of performance. On some of these styling was a factor too. I may never be able to or want to buy a set. Its fun to check out whats out there though
@@bkraglable The amplifiers are built in, one matched per driver, class AB, powered by a class D supply. They are called BASH amplifiers, and are very efficient with very low self noise.
The vibe here is amazing. Dads in Kohl's jeans and golf shirts sitting calmly in rows, straining to hear the impossibly minute difference an extra $40,000 makes.
Not your Granny's sound system back in 1970, that's for sure. I listened in the early 60's and later to an AM transistor radio with a one ear Mono earphone and it was BLISS.
At last a high end audition with Hip Hop, proper bass bias music. This is interesting because a lot of artists/sound engineers purposely decay bass-lines so they linger and you feel it. I’m so tired of constantly hearing old man “audiophile” dad-rock folk music. It’s boring. Shame I can’t hear it properly.
@MAD GRUMPYMAN Yikes bro. I think the original comment was implying people should be thankful they aren’t deaf and have functioning that ears let them distinguish between all of these expensive speakers in the first place.

Here's the thing: The people who can afford such luxury are mostly older, wealthy folks. As you get older, your hearing losses prevent you from hearing the intricate details of the music. Your dog, on the other hand, will wag his/her tail happily...
you underestimate wealth. most are under 50. regardless, hearing does not normally deteriorate only due to age. people who have lived their life with a passion for sound protect their hearing. here is the dumb aspect of high end audiophile setups, you can't sound better than live and live doesn't cost 100k... to add to that, nearly all the music featured use things like guitar amplifiers or other music that is electronic or played through speakers while recorded... so the sound quality is literally completely made up past a certain point, and that point is definitely not 100k. these people are morons.
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude i'm not mad. just stating a thought. thinking that i shouldn't have input and should butt out of anything that relates to someone else is pretty communist. are you a communist?
Even more fun fact, I can hear the IM distortion from the needle scraping against the vinyl record surface on one of the cheapest laptop speakers made. I'm all for purity, which makes me ask why do all these so called audiophiles insist on listening to turntables?? Its quite hilarious.
If you'll purchase a pair of those $220,000 GOBEL DIVIN NOBLESSE speakers for me, I’ll gladly pay you a dollar each year until I get them paid off. I’ll pick them up on Tuesday when I go for my physical therapy session. Thanks buddy, you’re the best.

Seriously, the prices are just made over to cover the vendor design, development and productions costs, $ not always representative of speaker capability. Do 200KUSD speakers sound way better than 50kUSD speakers?
Honestly who in this thread can afford those prices, i mean yeah they sound ok but those prices are just ridiculous. We should start our own club and buy and share gear, opinions and ideas🙌🤷♂️🙌
Every hobby from stamp collecting to high end audio is fascinating in it's own way. Thanks for this tour of high end audio speaker systems.. my DX-9 Cerwin Vegas are humbled!!!!
Worakls Caprice, Nightwish The Islander and then Last of the Wilds, Joachim Pastor Fixi, Boston Rock & Roll Band, Eagles Already Gone. Just a few, but my gosh, let's breath some life into those things. If I'm going to spend 100K on a sound system and listen to piano, might as well hire a professional pianist and buy a piano and have them play it live, as someone above mentioned.
Tell me about it. I forked out for some new speakers last year and got them home to find they sounded pretty average on my to of the range Onkyo AVR. Went back to the shop and got an Electrocompaniet stereo amp to drive them and they now sound amazing. Just a much more expensive day that I had planned for, let alone the grief from my wife.
The majority of the people listening to these systems can't hear jack sh*t above 10kHz (because they are in their mid 50s), let alone do they have a room with the proper acoustic treatment to put place these systems
A long time ago, when CD was just maturing the 8x Oversampling Players began to arrive, I didn't noticed much difference from the 4X Oversampling ones... until I played Dire Strait's "Brothers in Arms"... I was totally impressed to notice the stellar sound quality of the recording (Using Martin Logan ESL's). We made ABX blind testing and yes, 100% of the time I was able to distinguish 4X from 8X Oversampling Players, but failed into the "Random" when trying other regular recordings... So I think that "Brothers in Arms" might be the most well recorded Rock/Pop Album ever.
@@igalaviz Also the "loudness wars" in the CD era pushed sound engineers to increase the loudness of an album so that when played on the radio their songs would stand out merely by being louder. The effect is that quiet sections of music got louder but the loud parts didn't have any room to expand. The difference between the loudest and quietest sections of music is what makes music more dynamic and this loudness obsession was compressing that separation between loud and quiet. Dire Straits albums tend to have a high dynamic range: dr.loudness-war.info/album/list?artist=Dire%20Straits
@lord of the flys Yes, I Robot has a Gorgeous sound too... But I also like "Brothers in Arms" they are both excellent albums from the musical standpoint and excellent sounding. Also I like Collective Soul's self tittled album, Bachbusters from Telarc, Classical Gas from American Gramaphone, etc...
They almost always use the most whitebread music to audition the gear but I still take that Dire Straights over Diana Krall or some Spanish guitar music so boring it makes half the audience fall asleep.
I just found some Sansui SP-300 speakers for that price (with an Akai RTR extra). Those beasts are huge and heavy (74lbs each!). But they need a big room to shine. So I might have to get rid of them. Their efficiency is crazy.. would work awesome with a tube amp or a First Watt amp I believe. I knew they were too big for me but for that price I had to give it a shot. Plugged to a Pioneer SX-636, you can't turn the volume past 9 o'clock, it's too loud already (and not distorted).
I’ve been an audiophile for 30 years and have installed audio and video equipment for 20 for residential, commercial, and professional sound reinforcement applications. I’ve owned a ton of speakers(all bought used) but no way I’d ever spend not even over $1000 for a pair of speakers when I can just build my own to my standards. I’ve heard many expensive speakers and I can’t ever recall being totally blown away by anything. The bottom line is that when you go to a live performance they’re not using any of these high end speakers. You’re hearing some horn loaded speakers from JBL, EV, LAcoustics, Meyer, Renkus Heinz, Peavey, etc. And it sounds good to you doesn’t it? The people that can afford these speakers shown here are usually not even true audiophiles. They just have deep pockets. After a certain dollar figure speakers become conversation pieces just like artwork. Mark up on audio equipment is ridiculous. I’ve seen from 100% to 1000%. So keep that in mind the next time you buy new speakers.
AudioGMan I bought vintage klipsch quartets, with my blue series vintage pioneer....sounds absolutely amazing. 1200 bucks total. I’ll never change up my system again!
True to a degree. There is a point of diminishing returns. However, a pair of B&W 800D3s will smoke any commercial speaker in transparency , imaging, and musical accuracy.
@@Tacet137 No seriously, I've been to shows like this and some of the speakers sound incredible, but they're usually not the most expensive. There's no need to pay over 100K for a pair no matter how rich you are, unless you like throwing money away. Speakers costing a quarter of that amount can sound better if well designed/properly set up.
A $100 DAC + headphone amp paired with a good $75 headphones is enough for me. My ears have never listened to $1000+ setups so basically are still virgins in audiophile world. I hope I never listen to one that makes me want one
Dont take this the wrong way. its not meant to be condescending. Cameras absorb light. When you have your subject, in this case the speakers, behind your light source, your camera will adjust the lens and the iris automatically to adjust for the brightness. So inherently if the light source is shining into the camera the overall picture will look darker unless you lock the exposure. I bring my spotlight on video shoots to help out if that ever happens. Its not perfect, but its what I got. Hope that helps :)
Psychoacoustics: When your sense of hearing is mentally augmented by the fact that you spent a ridiculous amount of money on a sound system. If it is that expensive, it HAS to sound better
Some cool sounds there. Even though I am listening through RU-vid and a pair of Sony XB950 N1’s headphones I can still get a realistic sense of what this kit sounds like ... thanks for the recording
I tried getting the best audio I could. My puppy broke my studio mic that records in ultra high res. Its not intended to a a direct representation, but even when I play back on the cell phone it sounds great.
Looking at these speakers, no wonder really expensive "Hi-Fi" speaker cables exist. Imagine buying a $10,000 speaker and just putting some dinky 14Gauge speaker wire to it, how atrocious.
From the mid 60’s well into the 80’s I was building my own tube and also transistor amps and numerous speakers until integrated circuits became commonplace and prices came down. The systems in the video are very impressive but definitely a case of diminishing returns! I was accused more than once of just listening to the equipment and not the music- which is actually what it’s all about! Ouch - Touché !
There's no denying that some of these speakers look amazing, but they are ALL ridiculously overpriced. You are paying more for the aesthetics than sound. I doubt anyone can tell the difference in sound between some of the lower end speakers and the 200K ones. I just rebuilt a pair of Klipsch KLF 30 towers that I would put up against any of these speakers in terms of sound quality. They are only worth 2 grand with the upgrades to the drivers.
its not a competition. People drive expensive cars that are well in their budget and for the rest of us we drive normal cars. Its a simple analogy. dont think i am attacking you or anything. Unless you listen to these first hand in person any claim you make about performance is unsubstantiated
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude I didn't mean to come across as a douchebag. I actually like what I see, but I was just talking about whether or not the sound difference is worth the price. I realize my post comes across as a bit obnoxious, sorry.
@@dcaseng An easy way to tell is go to a hifi shop and ask to demo 4 different speakers from the same brand from say $5k up to $40k and see whether you hear a difference. I have found from my listening that their is a limit at which you find you can hear the difference enough to warrant the money. So you might find their $5k speakers good, their $20k speakers awesome and their $40k speakers only a smidge better than their $20k speakers in which case you can determine their $40k speakers aren't worth the money to you. I listened to a pair of $125k speakers the same brand as mine the other day and they were great but not worth 3 times as much to me (let alone being able to afford them).
DISCO-INFERNO-70 I have 4-KLF30 and I agree with you. Considering our speakers are almost 20 years old and cost nowhere near what all of the speakers shown, they really hold their own. I had the opportunity to listen to some Wilson speakers at an audio show in Bangkok. While they were impressive I did not hear $245,000 worth of sound improvement over the Klipsch. The mechanical angle adjustments for the speaker drivers were all stainless steel etc, but that’s got nothing to do with how the speakers actually sound. Just a fancy and overkill way of justifying all the money they charge.Long live our KLF30’s.
I'm still curious why the trend for taller tower speakers using multiple but smaller bass drivers? Why not speakers with large bass speakers? Small ones are perhaps a little tighter but lose a lot of low end feelling that larger speakers deliver with ease. All I can guess is audiophiles only listen to weird music.
There can be an infinite ways in which sound can be reproduced to reference. But if you can only feel music, you can enjoy from 'not so costly' speakers too. I'm not saying cheap like 5$ cheap, I'm saying under 500$ cheap.
The only reason I would ever consider spending so much on a pair of speakers was if they looked amazing and I had won the lottery. I genuinely believe even many audiophiles would struggle to differentiate in a blind sound test against a well chosen system totalling $2500 (amp, CD player & speakers).
Maybe maybe not. Wine nerds can sniff a glass of wine blindfolded and tell you which side of the bank it came from in france. With people like that in the world i would think that there would be people that could tell the difference. Can most of us? maybe not. It was fun to experience though
I read the other 2 replies and, have to 110% agree with you. We all hear differently. Wine tasting is a horrible analogy. Wine has etched in stone way about it. Sound does not. Listening is subjective.
These setups are mostly avant garde trash for rich people that want to show off high loudness in their big rooms. You can get incredibly close to perfection with Genelec, Neumann or JBL studio monitors.
Went there that year. Also went a couple years prior and hung out with the mbl staff past midnight. Some fight broke out in the hallway but we basically just chilled and listened to Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath.
Bays Audio Counterpoint..just wow. I always found these high priced speakers to be a bit a snake oil in terms of audio, and more about selling the look of the speakers till the sound demo for the Bays Audio Counterpoint came up. I was looking away from the screen texting, and suddenly found myself staring at the screen like listening to a professional musician do a street performance.

It pays to tag sale shop sometimes !! Theyre running through a Yamaha reciever as a preamp to a old Yamaha M80 amp at 200 watts a channel . Sadly only 2 of the 3 channels work at this time !
HiFi is the pinnacle of snake oil. A product costing more then a BMW is completely unnecessary. For two channel at that. Oh and the source material is coming from a $20 piece of PVC! 😂😂😏
I get all the HiFi skeptisim. There was a company in the middle of the video the gobble divine noblesse that used a record player that was reverse vacuum suction on the bottom of the record player. There were zero crackles from the record. It was nuts. I think it was called air force one record player. I have never experienced anything like that. I get you.
