I bought an 09 3-door Peugeot 207 not too long ago. We sold our campervan and I needed a run around / commuter. Bloody love the thing it's like a little tank. Has a really tight turning circle, excellent for parking. Brakes have recently been done too and they're really impressive! Would definitely recommend as a first car. Mine was a Twingo, but think I prefer this!
They'd make brilliant first cars, although I'd probably suggest going for a petrol if you don't do that many miles per year. All excellent value! Thanks for watching.
We actually bought a 207 three door for our first car. Excellent little runner, 2007 model but with only 45k on the clock...obviously had been sat in someone's drive unused before the car dealer got hold of it...very cheap but great condition...only have to change the wiper blades, which I am doing today actually...
Have to agree. I just picked up an '08 270CC manual with the 1.6L petrol engine in Australia for AU$2,200 (GBP 1,252) and it barely needs any work at all. The seller got an MOT for me, it's registered until August and apart from a little bit of a paint touchup needed on the electric roof surround at the rear it looks beautiful. Highly underrated cars indeed. As a retiree my needs are few, I just need a reliable car to go shopping in the nearest major town once a month. It will certainly perform that duty happily, with the bonus that I can drop the top on a warm day and enjoy the wind in what's left of my hair. :-)
You’ve got the idea my friend! I feel these sorts of cars are the best way to get around. That sounds like a super good deal for Australia, 2.2k. My one has the 1.4 which is belt driven, but that 1.6 that you have is chain driven so no cambelt replacement interval which is good. Enjoy your new motor with the roof down :)
Did you find the bite point on your clutch was quite high. When i test drove a 2011 207 the other day and it was high I've also heard the same from other people
Yes it was quite a high clutch with a not very specific biting point, but didn’t feel completely worn out either. I’ve heard plenty of people say it’s a pretty Peugeot thing
I've owned one of these for the last 6 years. It's been very reliable. Yes, I've had to spend some money over the last 6 years, but parts have been extremely cheap and ive most definitely had my money's worth out of it.
Is it reliable indeed? I'm worried about the engine. I've recently bought a used Peugeot 207, 4/5 doors, petrol, 88hp. I wonder if the engine is the Prince one, made together with BMW, 'cause some people say there were 207s with entirely French engine. If the engine number starts with KFU, does it mean it's the BMW engine? Also, what about electronics, does it make problems every week?
I’ve had a 207 1.4 75hp (the one not made by BMW) and I had it for four years. Not a thing went wrong with it until I sold it. Now I’ve got a ds3 with the 1.4VTi (BMW made) which I think is the prince engine, and it’s consuming oil where I need to top up every month, and had 2 check engine lights already with 83,000 miles. I brought it with 79,000 miles
My garage (which specialises in body repairs) says that these cars never get rust. I have a 1.6 Turbo petrol, and think it's a super little car. It's ideal for country lanes as it handles really well, and its got ample boot space for when I do supermarket shopping. Putting the roof up and down makes for a great party trick!
I Sadly bought the wrong peugot 207 for around 3k with the vti motor. one of the baddest ever made that cost me so much money and nothing could be fixed, so i had to sell the car for about 400 euro's still sad about it 😢
My sister bought one of these new in 2010 and still has it, but she’d never had it on motorways till she gave it to her daughters boyfriend to borrow, 45k miles, 1st time on motorway the timing belt snapped
