£100 for Fish & Chips - disaster 

I had to park in London recently for a full day's work.. I parked on a yellow and got fined £60.. If I had paid to park up the road it would have cost me £70 for 10 hours. I think I got a bargain! ... 😂

That’s why I moved to spain, London is a nightmare with all the parking, congestion charge, low emission zone, speed cameras, bus lanes 😂

Darren John I feel your pain mate 😢, I had a similar experience when I landed in the island of Fiji, got off the plane, went straight to the duty free, bought beers & spirits... Didn't try to hide them or anything, went to leave the airport to get a taxi to the hotel, customs pulled me to one side, & told me I wasn't allowed them, I'd spoken to the guy in duty free & he said it was fine, when I told customs this, they said of course he would say that! 😂 That's when the penny dropped mate, lol.. luckily being friendly & naive helped me leave the airport with everything I bought 👍

Hi Darren, This happened to me to .I drove from Farnham Surrey up to The good old Regency Cafe at Westminster a while ago in a 2015 reg van looking at a job whilst there. Two weeks later i got a letter in the post with a picture of me driving the van all red faced and full after my lovely meal and an £80 fine on top of my breakfast costs. This was around the time of the ulez changes and me being in a fairly new vehicle at the time i thought all was well. (ulez fines) The most expensive breakfast ever thanks to the lovely mayor of London. Great video Darren. Steve. 👍

Haven't been back in the UK for 12 years and based on the cost of living there i doubt i ever will....love your bike though...watching from Cape Town....really decent fish and chips here is equivalent of £3.50.

Honestly that was a pure tourist trap, wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. For £18 the portion especially the Haddock was miniscule. There are much better fish and chip shops in the Marylebone area just off Oxford Street.

I used to visit lots of businesses all around London and i never met one owner/employee that didn't say it was okay tp park outside. After a £120 fine I never listened to them again.

So thats why they call it Shaftesbury Avenue - you got shafted! TFL are obscene too, £80/£160 charges for the tiniest thing. Who would want to drive in London? Thought the chips looked a tad undercooked for my taste. Bit on the pale side.

Oh no DJ, such a shame getting a fine, i once drove my car from north to Central London, parked it behind Oxford Street, got an £80 fine, since then i take public transport going into town, great looking 🐟 and 🍟

Hey DJ I reckon that sort of thing has happened to the best of us! I parked in Nottingham once, had no change so ran to a shop to get some and in literally 10 minutes I got a fine! Apart from having to pay the fine … as you say … never again! Life’s too short to dwell on it … it happens! The fish and chips? Looked good but I can’t abide tartare or any sauce served in plastic! I’d prefer a huge dollop of it from a big bowl freshly made out back! We always say sauces set an establishment apart from another don’t we? Can’t wait for the next one!! 🏍️🤟

No offence, but for all those saying it was bad luck getting the ticket I would say if you'd have a had a think about it rather than listening to the shop owner it was more of a foregone conclusion. It did constitute an obstruction after all. Could have gone either way, but if the traffic wardens were around in that area it was a bit inevitable.

Not been near London since 1970,saw what I needed to see and never wanted to go back,and have no desire to ever go back again.

When you seen them hovering over your bike why didn't you go over and say you had delivered something to the shop and got off?

London for parking anyway is dreadful no such thing as free parking seen alot of penalty notices on cars parked on double yellow which is why i stick to public transport or walking

You mentioned about the Charles Dickens museum. If you're ever in Portsmouth we have the Charles Dickens birthplace museum. Again it's a small terraced house that you would never guess was a museum.

Hi DJ. These parking run companies are money grabbing leaches. Wherever one seems to go, machines request cards. Then the machine is allegedly faulty and hey presto a ticket or fine in post later. Bring back the little man in a ticket box plus it's employment for someone. Lovely see Daisy in full bloom and of course very nice plate fish chips. Sorry re the ticket, obscene fine IMO.

I would give the location as a 10, but the food a 9. I always look for a parking sign because I don't trust most people.

Something similar happened to me, friend of mine and I went to dinner at a nice restaurant. parking was across the street in lot, when we came out, the car had been TOWED! had to take a cab to the impound lot and $100 to get the car out, ouch

I'm from the North West UK and have eaten fish and ships all my life, and I've NEVER been served it with skin on.. the thought turns my stomach..

I popped into an Irish pub in North London for a "free " pint of Guinness on Sr Patrick 's Day. The 60 quid parking ticket made it a very expensive free drink.

I was in that area on Sat, past Holborn towards Kings College as they has an open day. Found a great London cafe, supported independant. Crown cafe!

Billings Gate, some lovely eateries if you love fish. Brick Lane has a few quality eateries, but they can be hit and miss. Had a lovely BBQ there last time.

Hi Darren, as you know Haddock is very good for you being loaded with vitamin B and Omega 3 fatty acids. But the concentration of the vitamins are in the skin of the fish and therefore a good reason to eat the skin.(Also for the flavour).😂

Go to London, I guarantee you’ll either be mugged or not appreciated. Catch the train to London, stopping at Rejection, Disappointment, Backstabbing Central and Shattered Dreams Parkway 😆 Nice video mate 👍

oh dear! Hate London for parking, usually travel to London by train now or outside the current ULEZ and get tubes into the city. Was that ketchup Heinz? looked a bit watery (Edit, just seen where you said it wasn't, always think if you take the cheap option as an establishment cutting cost corners, what other corners are they willing to cut?)

I do sympathise with you Darren regarding your fine, but once they allow one person to park on the footway they have then given the green light for all and sundry to do the same - before you know it the whole pavement will be blocked with vehicles. I know you love riding your magnificent Daisy, but probably best to leave her at home when you go to central London….the wardens are shit hot for dishing out fines.

Fish and chips looked ok, so all good. Loved the literary reference to Oliver Twist, a well written book there. I asked my girlfriend if she liked Dickens, she said she did but not on a first date.

Well.... that was a kick in the Wallet. Only a few feet away was a bicycle parking area, whats the difference. Those fish & chips did look good though. The Tube is looking a better option. Looking forward to the next vlog.

Funny how people not paying the ticket, will always say, "Oh your fine there, mate. They never ticket for that around here." At least, the meal was good, and the day was sunny. And you got see where Charles Dickens home is. If I had a bike that I love as much as you love Daisy, I don't prefer to be parking her between cars that will back into her and just leave. Anyway. Fun if expensive, video.

If I get a parking fine in London it's sometimes cheaper than paying for parking.

Those parkys are like vultures. I understand the need to keep London moving and penalising cars and vans on the pavement, but they should be more relaxed about bikes. Daisy wasn't impeding anyone going about their business.
