I’m an avid spam lover, I love quite a bit of the different varieties and make it quite often. And I was looking forward to the maple one tremendously. But it sucked so bad lol
The Spam company MUST release a Spam sampler pack! Small bites that allow you to check out the range without requiring the commitment of buying a complete tin.
Are you guys ready for this? A little ways north of us, where the Spam came from, they have a SPAM museum. Yes, a Spam museum.Thought you should know that just for fun.
I used to go fishing as a kid and if we couldnt get any worms our sarnies would double up as bait. Spam was great. I'd like to see all of these tried by an angler. Just gor a laugh.
@@brucerobinson1284 Well, based on the maps in the American classrooms, try driving to Alaska first, then it appears to be just a short boat ride from there.
First Spam review I've ever watched, it made me wishing I had some in the cupboard for a fry up. We have regular, salt reduced and Hickory in our Australian supermarkets.
I live in a America and was born here. My family and I growing up parents and grandparents would cook the SPAM more and get a real good dark crisp crust on both sides. A bit thinner slices too.
Spam stir-fry is my favorite way to eat it. I get the regular original SPAM for any dishes where SPAM is not the only thing in the dish. It give a good medium flavor that's not overpowering.
Loved this video! Had heard about all the fancy flavored SPAMs, but haven’t tried them yet. Appreciate the test run of flavor sensations. I feel full just watching you. As I watched I kept thinking “they’re gonna get the meat sweats!”😆 Always enjoy seeing you two enjoying your time together. Thanks for bringing some fun and laughter into our day. All the best from Indiana, USA.
Ironically my first ever school summer camp included our tutor singing the Spam song alongside Brown Girl in the Ring, just to alleviate our bad moods in wet british weather.... Still can't say i've tried it but loved Bacon Grill. Not sure if its a good processed food going by all UPF warnings today, I'd have to investigate. Love the vid though guys.
5:03 "America, do better. Make Spam Great Again." "The can... the spam can... he came up to me... big can, tears in his eyes... he said, 'Sir... sir, you've got to pump me full of flavor. Just open me up and pump me.' So I did, and we won the trade war with Chinah, bigly time."
In our household the bacon spam is a once-a-week ritual for breakfast. Whenever we do fried rice, it is a huge fight between the Tocino and the Teriyaki. For cold Spam eating the original is the best with Hickory making a close second. If we could only have one flavor it would have to be the original flavor hands down.
My wife and I love SPAM, We'll open a can, slice it, and make cold sandwiches with it. We put tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and mayonnaise on the sandwich with SPAM. You don't have to cook SPAM, it's good to eat right out of the can. We'll also slice it and bake it in the oven, and have it with fried eggs and hash for breakfast. My favorites are the Original SPAM, and the Hickory Smoked SPAM. Fun video guys, thanks for sharing it. JT Kentucky, USA.
meh. SPAM is much better when cooked. I agree with these gents pan frying it. Works great diced and mixed with eggs for breakfast, diced and mixed with fried rice, sliced & cooked and wrapped with rice for a musubi (a staple in hawaii). I never cared for it plain out of the tin though. to each their own.
When I was a kid we had Spam now and again, but I used to love to bread it and fry it up. YUM! These days I don't eat it, but do have several cans in my pantry for those times when groceries might be difficult to get and with the way things are going over here, you just never know what these clowns will do.
....... you're saying, as a nation, you peaked at Spam?..... (now this would explain the same gun control regulations that allow people to take pot shots at each other and then say that the government can't do enough about gun access!)
I somehow knew you guys would be disappointed with the maple one. Cos u put too much hope in it. This was a fun review. Thanks for taking one for the team and eating all that spam!
Greetings From South Carolina. Cool Review. I haven't had Spam in years, and I'm American. Dad use to cook Spam back in the 1970s. Along with poached or sunny side up eggs, Buttery Grits. And toast or Biscuits. Dang, making myself hungry. Thanks for the Cool Video👍.
Only you guys can make an entertaining video reviewing Spam!! I felt your disappointment at the maple one! I fancy trying the Teriyaki one now! Cheers for a fun video Andy and Mark!😊
Tocino means bacon in Spanish or pork belly. I’m from Florida and have only seen spam, spam light and jalapeño flavored spam. I love your channel. Follow you guys all over the UK virtually. Thanks for the fun and great content.
Greetings from America. I completely got a kick out of your review of spam flavors something I have wanted to do but feared the ikk factor. Now i feel confident with a starting point i won't have to gag down. Love your channel
🙄 how many time do you eat fast food? And act like SPAM is something gross when it's just salted pork.... I'm sure you only eat homegrown lettuce and organic water sandwiches
I was raised in a family of 9 we ate the original spam several times a week. Back then it was real cheap amd only 1 flavor. Until i watched the video, to me, the other flavors were just lipstick on a pig. I will try them now thanks to the video. To be clear one of my favorite foods from the UK is blood pudding. Now i would eat that every day if I could consistently get my hands on it.
If you're in Aldi, try their version of spam. It's actually really good, made in USA so it might even be legit stuff rebranded. Available in Aussie Aldi shops anyway 👍
I've tried all of those except the Tocino. And I'm pretty much in agreement with you. I have had the hot and spicy, it is really spicier than I like in a sandwich. But the Hot and Spicey and the teriyaki are both good in fried rice for breakfast with a couple eggs on top.
Again, you need to make a trip to Minnesota, USA. We have the Spam Museum! This is where it comes from 😂 And then you can head up towards Lake Superior and the North Shore and do some camping in some of the most beautiful country you'll find anywhere.
That’s actually not true. It’s actually just short for spiced ham. It was created by Ken Daigneau the brother of a Hormel executive during a name contest for the canned meat product in 1937. He won $100 for his idea. It is not an acronym it is simply shortening Spiced Ham into spam.
Well this is unusual, never knew there were so many flavours of spam. To be fair I wouldn’t have minded having a go at tasting. Sis is going to America later in the year, think I’ll ask her to bring some 😊👍🌸
Here in the US we dont have all of these available..except in Hawaii where they have the highest consumption of anywhere. And I have been through the factory tour very interesting and you missed a few flavors also which I have had In Hawaii and Musabi !
So awesome to see you guys eating all these flavors. Honestly though, you should have put a little more oil in the pan, just to coat things. Then again, I have to be mindful that you guys have sticks burning underneath.
Loved this video as always Andy 😊 do U think not rinsing the pan out each time affected any of the flavours? Saying that though how annoying it would be to wash the pan that many times 😂
As a kid (I'm 65) I loved Spam night during the week because it meant my Dad would make scrambled eggs with Spam for Saturday breakfast. Recently I tried turkey Spam and it is yummm.
my mom used a version of Spam ( I think in the Netherlands it's called Smac) in macaroni dish instead of minced beef, tried is again as a grown up it wasn't as nice as I remember ;-) Tocino is from the Philippines it has herbs, spices and sugar and the orange i thinks from the Anatto, the same stuff that makes cheese and Cheddar it's colour
That was fun to watch, who would have known there were so many flavours. My dad used to make us spam fritters as kids and they were delicious 😋 oh dear, the disappointment on your face at the maple flavoured ☹️
If you slice the Spam and rinse it, then cut along the lines, rinse, and boil for 5 minutes, then fry, you'll find it so good and significantly less salty.
This is RU-vid at its finest. Two Englishmen sitting in the woods, on a summer's day in which it's threatening to pour with rain, sampling and ranking Spam like professional canned meat connoisseurs. I'm vegetarian and I still enjoyed watching that. I was with you on the prediction of maple being the best. I'm sorry but I couldn't help but chuckle at the utter wordless, blank disappointment when you both realised it wasn't living up to expectations! You both looked like a kid who opens their Christmas present and it's not quite the same item they asked Santa for, perhaps a knock-off version. 😆
