Thank you. Selective licensing it is a gate to identify all sorts of issues. My dissertation last year was about selective licensing and this also came up after the data analysis.

HMO landlords are NOT in the room rentals, they are in the PEOPLE MATCHING business. I ran two large HMOs houses. They were quality houses in excellent areas. I hand-picked the housemates; they were "la crème de la crème". I had no issues whatsoever with the housemates. However, I left the market due to burgeoning (well intentioned and justifiable) legislation. My houses complied but I neither wanted the cost of an agent; the cost wasn't viable, or the hassle of dealing with the formalities.

Are you seriously suggesting criminal landlords shouldn't go to jail?

Thank you for your comment! Our video certainly does not suggest that criminal landlords should escape consequences. In fact, we highlighted cases where landlords faced significant fines and jail time for their actions. Our goal is to emphasize the importance of adhering to property regulations to ensure tenant safety and maintain community standards. We believe that landlords who break the law, especially those involved in severe criminal activities, should be held accountable and face appropriate penalties, including jail time if necessary.
