I'm not shocked at some of the replies , yes its a ford Sierra , yes its a lot of money , but they fetch what they do . I don't understand the values of paintings or even other cars but they are what they are and i don't throw personal insults at people because they see a value in an item that i don't . If you don't understand the value of these cars then that's ok , but to start being rude and personal just makes you look the kind of person who some will chose to ignore . If you have nothing nice to say then try saying nothing . you can have an opinion and express it in an adult and polite way so why make yourself look stupid with negative replies to someone who you don't even know These cars always sell for these high prices and when they do all the ones who reply with the stupid comments always go very quiet . as will happen when this car sells Thank you to all those who have polite replies , Adam goes out of his way to bring these videos to you all and i appreciate him coming down to see me . Keep up the great work Adam , and thanks to all his nice followers
I can't agree with you more Paul! I don't know why they're worth so much, but the fact is that they are are, so you can't come on here and start being an idiot with childish comments. At the end of the day you are an expert on these cars Paul, and you've probably forgotten more than these stupid people even know. I agree Adam goes out of his way to make these videos, and in my opinion he does a great job! It people have a problem they don't have to watch. I would love to buy that car I just don't have anywhere to keep it 😢
In fairness - a car like that for this price is always going to be contentious, right? You are spot on about personal digs - there is no need for that - but we have a right to express surprise at the price.
It fetches that much money because it is a mint example of a bygone era! Mint ones of these are rarer than most supercars of today! It’s not about the performance but more about what the car is and what it stands for! For the people that can afford this car, it isn’t about the price! It’s only about having it to look at! This car is a beast in any collection!
I wouldn't mind the price tag so much if they didn't drive like a bag of 5hit. Better of with an ST, Buy land If you want to invest! You can't make land.
Agree, I’ve had all of them and the thought of a standard one makes me cringe, they need stage 3+ some to make interesting, my sapphire cosworth drove far far nicer than my 3 door with lower miles.
I had a very dear freind called Gary Hooper who had a wonderful collection of RS500 cosworths around 9 of them if a recall I was very lucky to be able to see them as well as actually have a little drive in his moonstone blue RS500 which the registration was GAF ??? if im.right. Anyway he took me to see a fella called Duncan pursell of Automotive Unlimited who sold the most immaculate cosworths and im going back now must be 20yrs or more?? Anyway he had a Black RS500 54.000 miles up for £18.500 yes £18.500 and Gary told me to buy it saying in years to come these are gonna be worth a fortune has Gary was also buying up RS500 spares etc. Cut a long story short i didn't buy it as the insurance was £1000,s but Garys words have come true. Still at least i got to drive his RS500 and spend many times with him at many a car show and at his factory where he stored his RS500,s Sadly Gary and his lovely wife Pam have both passed away and hes probably looking down now saying to me .. Told ya so you idiot you wouldnt listen you should of bought it 🤣 Yep you right i should of .. Miss ya mate RIP 💕
Duncan Purcell only sold the best - he knew his way round every Cosworth. A modest and honest individual. I bought a late 4x4 sapphire of him in 96 - perfect gentleman and I hope all is well with him now.
I remember when I was there he had the ebony black Sappbire Cosworth L20 COS it was up for.£11.500 which at the time was serious money when most saffys where trading atound the £5K to £6kmark. I heard later that the car was written off in an accident (if.thats true such a shame)
Would you really buy a 40 year old Sierra when there are so many better modern cars that make the RS500 look positively slow? I love the Cossies, and enjoy watching Adam do his ones up, but I would never buy one now - so many better cars out there for that price, IMHO.
I’m a motorcycle man and a great believer in using classics out on the road so everyone gets to enjoy seeing them rather than hiding them away in collections. But when it comes to time warp examples like this I think they should be preserved.
Beautiful car there Paul, but a word of advice from an expert on Rs500s keep that bloody raptor gun away from it and get them boot struts sorted since your the Rs500 Guru easy fix even for you and your lack of knowledge and skill
Ridiculous price for a 40 odd year old Sierra, but good luck to him. I know its not nice to deal with negative remarks, but you have to admit that you have had to be expecting them - its par for a course when you're trying to sell a Sierra for a quarter of a million pounds, nice as though it is.
Immaculate Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 on offer with Silverstone Auctions Silverstone Auctions will offer this immaculate 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 with just 5,192 miles for sale at £150,000 - £180,000 in the hope and belief that it could well break the previous record which stands at £135,700 achieved at a Silverstone sale last year.
They say never meet your heroes. I could never afford an rs turbo when I was younger and when I finally could afford one and made the purchase I regretted it. Yes these classics are iconic, but most of them drive like shite and they are nowhere near as fast as you imagined as a kid
Yes, 1980s underpowered by today's standard, rattly, smelly unusable sierra, tell you what, il buy it and keep it in a heated garage for the next owner.... These were meant to be used, if the car will outlive you - what's the point, USE THEM

From $37K to $45K that's the minimum range of profit return every week I thinks it's not a bad one for me, now I have enough to pay bills and take care of my family.
Sounds interesting. I was planning to invest some few £ in some coins, stack them up and leave them for a few years, but seeing this changed my mindset. Thank you very much
if we all had a time machine , we all would of dry stored are performance cars back then that's for sure, sold my 44k 5 Gt turbo for 2.5k in 97 and was mint
Watched two seconds and don't care about the rest - it's a FORD SIERRA not a house, don't care how many miles or owners or condition, whoever buys it needs their head looking at Edit: from an RSOC member with two cossies owned for over 20yrs
I don’t believe for one second you owned 2 Sierra Cosworths yourself , I am around the Ford scene, NOBODY would say IT’S A FORD SIERRA after owning TWO themselves. 😂
The car model has a legendary racing pedigree and history, built up by the legendary cosworth, is extremely rare, is beautiful, and is worth every penny. I am not a collector and would prefer to buy a driver, but that car is about as good as it gets for RS500's. Kudos to whoever purchases it.
Paul talking up the million pound cossie again. Maybe maybe not who cares except the rich investors. This was my poster car when i was a kid and naff all chance of owning one now .
Only ever seen one moonstone blue one locally to me many moons ago…… gorgeous car and it eventually vanished. He’s now driving an r8 with the reg that was on the rs500
The problem is these cars are not Ferrari's etc.. they have a limited time span as a 'collectors car' and as such are not a solid investment. As generation X grows old and dies, next 20-30 years, these cars will loose value. A 1950's Ferrari has value, a 1950's ford does not.
There were only 52 moonstone blue rs500 The fact it’s E reg makes it a later model. Nice to see the extra fuel rail… sad to see it not been used… Mans just a wannabe Jay Leno 🤮
Know guy who has a new rs500. At least I think he still has it. Not seen him in while. He did say he was never gonna sell it. Original owner with 3 delivery miles on it. Bought it and stored it.
Up to £100k i can understand it if you have a really good memory point for them but a quarter of a million quid we’re talking McLaren money..i know what id prefer..saying that cars had character back in the day lovely thing 👍👌
@@jondrizzle4554 no just his greasy mitts. Why put oils from skin on the paint of a car of this condition and value? Just fkn stand up without lying all over the paint.
This is the car Paul and Adam are referring to that was advertised for £350,000. Our car, now sold. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DXUzes-6f7A.htmlsi=-osSUtIYIjcnUI2A
Tell me, just as an observer, I don't own one, why is this £265k but one went last year at auction for nearly £600k, both mileages in the same ball park?
I remember not that many years ago, pistonheads did an article on a mint low mile moonstone 500 for sale for 60k. The comments were predictable with the usual claptrap like my 330d bmw is faster. it's a crap old ford blah blah. I chimed in, saying these are ultra rare cars with real motorsport pedigree and would soon be 100k plus... people mocked me, calling me a fanboy etc...
Nice tidy car. But if I was going to pay that for a car. I would sooner buy a RS 500 racing car. You would get more enjoyment out of it , flying around Donington race track. 👍👍👍👍👍 great to see you doing videos Adam.😀
There always have been problems with these cars due to those people. Even genuine cars. The insurance was astronomical. They were unbelievably easy to steal. Your McDonalds wheel spinning scrote wanted the parts for his 1.6l and your joy riders stole them thrashed them and stripped the seats and wheels. Sold on through time and now to be found on the vehicles you mention. You could have bought the whole car legally for what some are asking for parts now.
The value is only worth what some1 is willing to pay at the time. Over priced tin boxes in my opinion. Can't use them everyday as they rust sadly. Build quality rubbish tbf that era sadly
Waste of cash. I bought real estate 20 yr ago, at 31 i was semi retired. Fully retired at 40. Now my work week is like two hours long. Small jobs like plumbing fixes is all i do now. Cars are a very poor investment. That 275k will not give you 1500 quid a month!
I’m sorry everyone is jumping on the bandwagon since the black one went for £525k, £75k auction fee, on the day 2 people wanted to buy it, auction said on the day £150k but may reach £180k but £600k, don’t get me wrong if i was a multi millionaire I would of gone to £1M because it’s my all time favourite car, this one is beautiful better than the £350k just sold, in 2013 i got a black 1 owner (rockstar) 8k miles for £55k 😭 I’m sure the same car is here in this garage of paul linfoot
The market is simply this. If your a 60 year old bloke, who lusted after one when he was 23 but you just couldn’t have one. Wind the clock on 30 odd years and you’ve done very well, you live in a 4 million quid house in Henley on Thames and you’ve just sold your business and retired. What’s 265k to scratch that itch! Can an 80’s Ford really be worth that much. The answer is yes. Personally think it’s ridiculous!
Omg still watching your nonsense. When you tell your bank that’s an asset £265000 mention the 500 didn’t come with spare fog lights in the boot . Love it but £1000000 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
All the People with insulting and disrespectful comments what you need to remember and I know someone who is capable of buying This car for that’l price what it is and it’s the car he’s wanted fir years and in the other £265k to him is look my going out and spending £500 on a mountain bike it’s 1/8 of my monthly salary so what’s £265k when you have 250 plus million in the bank
It will sell quickly, some pathetic comments in here tbh. Some people simply dont know what there are talking about. If Paul says its a minter then its a minter. Bonkers collection just adds to the provenance as that bloke had nothing but the very best. Hope it sells quickly just to shut the plonkers up!
To put thing/prices into perspective. A Ferrari 250 GTO was new $18000/equivalent to 17000 Euros. In November last year, a 250 GTO was sold at RM auctions for around 48 million Euros!!! A car is worth the amount of money the buyer is willing to pay, end of!
Stick it on the bay no reserve 1p start. But wait for the 80% off final value offer on a Friday. And once the auction ends wait for the HMRC brown envelope of death to drop through your letterbox 😂😂😂😂😂
Ex Mrs parents had a neighbour who owned one in moonstone back in the 90s. It was absolutely mint and original. Used to get it out on a Sunday to turn the engine over. Ended up selling it for a Honda fireblade. I'm pretty sure that man will have massive regret.
Ceiling must be reached by now as lads of age when these were the cars to have are now in retirement and cashing in. Case in point by these two. That said, if I could I would. Stunning examples and looked after by the best professional and enthusiast.
Not worth the price seems a popular comment here, however this is a rare car and if it sells or not it sets a precedent, I’m not suggesting that’s right or wrong it’s just how the market goes, if the seller is a dreamer how much is it worth, how much money do you have to offer, how much is your one you have for sale or where is your link to one that can be bought significantly cheaper? Or are you perhaps dreaming?….
I hope you still have your car mate gutted your selling it as it deserves to be in your hands you've had it so long and is part of you mate if I had the money I'd buy it just for you to have it as I've watched your channel for sometime now and you deserve it fingers crossed you keep it and it stays in your hands and also keep up gd work I believe in karma and all will work out 👍
Oi banksy even if Diana left a skid mark on the drivers seat wouldn’t be half that. Had one new 87 not 500 but moonstone that car is as valuable as you tell your bank and insurance. Div 😂
It's a bit sad now isn't it, the car will be bought by an investor, not an enthusiast, it will be locked in a specialist garage, increase in value and then sold on, I hope it's bought by a millionaire, who will rag the life out of it, stick 50000 miles on the car, and enjoy the thing
People need to see what Americans are paying for nissan gtr34 and there are hundreds been stored for up to 3 years until they can be imported. Some collecters are paying up to a million dollars for cars that were produced in thousands
