during covid. i had a mate that played GTA online with us on a dell optiplex 3010. (the cpu was upgraded to a second gen i5 if i recall correctly) he couldn't afford a proper GPU so he played with a GT 610. he played on the lowest setting possible with shadows disable, also played on 800 x 600 resolution and he hovers about 45-30 fps, we had loads of fun regardless.
had this exactly during covid but got a cheap cheap gtx 750 ti for $50 plus shipping and put a ram and ssd in it. thing was a little beast could run anything on low -med settings
You can push it further by disabling shadows and reflections, setting resolution to 640x480 and reducing draw distance lower than original sliders can, all in configuration file in documents. May even be 30+fps at native 640x480 with no shadows and reflections.
I know of a channel that does exactly this sometimes. You can get 30fps out of real turds of GPUs using 640x480 as a base file (via INI file), turning off shadows and reflections (also in the INI file) and last but not least, setting advanced scaling to 0.5 in game. So 240p ultra low no shadows is doable!
@@TheSpotify95 It would be 60fps+ even on that poor 310, actually in that state it works on pretty much any DX10 GPU, even very bad intergrated ones like radeon hd 3000 or geforce 8200 (which I unfortunately had and it was so terrible it got ~30fps on these settings). I've tested this on intel G41 extreme graphics however and it crashed after intro (which worked at 1fps by the way) so I think it was more of driver-related issue.
@@mruczyslaw50 yeah I've seen 30fps on even the ATI Radeon HD3450 using the 240p resolution and disabling shadows/reflections... It's amazing as to what will run GTA 5 when you turn the settings low enough.
Why does it almost feel as if the integrated graphics of that CPU would somehow perform better than this GPU? It's cool to see people try to get stuff to run on the lowest spec stuff imaginable though. I'd kind of like to see a comparison of the iGPU running this game at the same settings now, it might be fun.
That's how I used to play GTA Online back in the day with my friends. I had to disable shadows and set res at 800*600 (50% res scale too) on my 1080p monitor, to get between 14 and 32 FPS. Then I decided to overlock my card, and it felt like magic when getting no less than 25 FPS, and up to 38. My first PC could barely run GTA Vice City, so I had to use a piece of software called 3D Analyze to emulate having a graphics card. That way I could run The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion on 240p, not even in fullscreen. Lucky of you guys!
I'd like to see this tested with older games like Unreal Tournament 2004, Doom 3, Need for Speed Most Wanted or Carbon, Half Life 2, etc. I'm curious to see how it compares to the 6800 GT I had back in those days.
I should probably feel blessed that I got a proper gaming rig a few years before I even became an adult. Gtx 650 ti and an i7 3770… I won’t ever forget it. Way back in 2012. Played so many games on that thing. :)
Have you heard of CrossFire? It's a South Korean/Chinese market CS clone which still attracts more players to this day than CS2 does. It's notoriously easy to run.
pretty sure the i7 7700k igpu is way better, scratch that, any Apu from 10yrs ago could play gta v better than that monstrosity, great content by the way
Its funny how I just recently assembled a computer with the HD 4850 512MB I got for 5 euros. Using that 4850 as the video adapter basically for its DVI out connector, as i7 2600 came with some medion prebuilt mobo that had no iGPU. But man the old HD 4850 512MB can run Resident Evil 5 at 40fps at 1080p.
Oh my… I just tested an HD 5450 512mb and I didn’t think any card could run GTA V worse than that until you posted this one🤣 the HD 5450 at least managed a smooth 30fps at 800x600 native resolution 😭
First time i played GTA V on PC was in 2015 on a 5 year old card Radeon 5670. 720p normal settings with sub 30 or around 30 fps with major stutters and textures failing to load while driving because the card was paired with then almost a decade old Q9450 CPU and 4 GB of DDR2 memory. Still managed to completed it in that state. Memories.
Hey, if you happen to see this comment Random, I think it would help you a lot for your GTA benchmarks if you had a CONSISTENT modded car/cars with good handling to benchmark with, rather than a different, random civilian car. I have well over 3k hours in GTA, a lot of them spent driving, and have more than a few good car suggestions. It does matter. LOVE your work, thank you for the videos. :)
What an buttery smooth experience. And i like the new Nostalgia Slider. Absolute well spent 5 British finest. But the real question for nostalgia is .... Can it run Crysis remastered
I've been subbed for about 10 years now, and even though my last graphics card was $1000 and my computer is a 4K beast, I still enjoy tinkering and to get games to run on old or lower end hardware. I have a 2013 budget laptop and I still run brand new games on it, just not the most demanding ones of course
I think back then there was Spanish youtuber that modified games to make them run on crappy hardware i forgot his name he changed his channel to more gaming documentary style . this video reminds me of his old videos // great video
I had a GeForce GT 210 with 256MB of vram until I upgraded to a gtx 750TI SC and MAN did it run better. going from the game crashing on launch to 45ish FPS and being limited by my i5 2400 was kinda nice. it'd be nostalgic to rebuild that same PC someday...
i'm impressed by this graphics card, i can imagine some guy with a graphics card like this in 2015 just enjoying gta v while dreaming of having a better pc
Don't be picky, 10 FPS were playable. I got used to watching it in like 10 seconds, and then it was perfect smooth. And it wasn't the input lag, it was strategic planning!
Funny enough that 50% scaling(basically 360p resolution) at about 20fps is legit the xbox 360 performance 😂😂😂 Damn fitting given it's 360p on an xbox 360 and i know that cuz i played it like that on my cousin's xbox 360 a few years ago.
Respect for the correct pronunciations of 'absolutely shockingly' and 'disorientating'. I'm sick and tired of the laziness in use of language nowadays and to hear it used correctly is increasingly rare.
Language changes and evolves over time, as evidenced by words being added to the dictionary, new pronunciations and spellings being considered correct, etc. Going "English must be this way and stay this way" is a weird hill to die on, unless you're a linguist. Why be a stickler so long as it's not making someone more difficult to be understood?
Great video. Interesting results actually. If you run emulate Gta 5 on android using Winlator, you would usually get similar if not better results than this gpu. It will be more than playable if your phone has Snapdragon 8 Gen chip. I would like to see you test some games on android if possible. I think that would be quite interesting.
In 2012 i had no money to buy good gpu for my dual core pc, i bought geforce 210 1gb to play gta4 and other games at whatever settings, i played many games on it, it was slow but i enjoyed and completed many games on it. I had great time with geforce 210.
Same I used the GeForce 220 to play a lot of games back in like 2013-2015, I played games like Empire Earth and also I used it for emulating PS1 and PS2 games like the Crash Bandicoot series, Unity browser games like The Last: Dead Zone and Contract Wars and Flash browser games like Strike Force Heroes, Stick War and more than 100 Flash games I used to play
My 15$ gpu plays this game with 60 fps on 1440p, it was a "broken" nitro+ rx 580 8gb that didn't started for the owner so he passed it to me. First time I used the gpu myself it had some artifacts but I switched to the other bios and now I happily have an awesome gpu to play most of my favourite games on 1440p monitor 👍👍
Quick explanation on why it said you had 3.X GB of Vram. If you have anything below 4GB of Vram, it will default to 4GB in a non-precise measurement. I would know as I used a GT 1030 (2GB card) and a 1050TI (4GB) and they both displayed 4GB. Of course if you have more than 4GB it will show the correct amount. It shows my 1070TI as a 8GB card of which it is.
One budget option that intrigues me when I see it is the Radeon 4830. Also a 512MB GPU from 2009 but features 4x the rops/TMU for approximately 18 pounds on ebay. Seems like an extra 13 pounds would go a long, long way.
The Integrated Graphics of the 7700K should work just as well as, if not better than, this card... Also, you can go into the INI and set it to 640x480 with shadowquality=0 and 1/2 scaling to get the most out of it that you can! (240p ultra low no shadows)
This is quite a similar experience to playing GTA V on a $99 Celeron N4020 laptop. Aside from the game taking 20 minutes to load off an external hard disk, of course.
Have you ever thought about making a "backstage" video on how you prepare your HW testing video? From installing tested HW, OS, drivers, Steam client and games and then editing. It must be time consuming.
Honestly if I paid that little for a graphics card I would call GTA5 running with 40fps at 300p pretty good. Like if I didn't have the luxury of having an rx6750xt and all I could afford was this I'd be happy I could get 30-40fps at 300p. Though not gonna lie it makes my old laptop with a gt740M graphics card look like a powerhouse.
GTA5 10 fps speedrun! Go! The scaling is pretty awesome, its so flexible... I wish every game was like that. Cant run the game? Divide the resolution by 10! Playing GTA5 at 300p on a 4K HDR monitor must be something to see haha You should redo this video but with a 4090 or something. See how many frames can you get with gta5 at 300p on a 4090.
Geforce 310 was released in 2009, but it was not a true gaming card even back then (PS3 era) , i.e. it could run some titles at low-med specs. But it had hardware vide decoding (H.264) which was important back then, as you could watch HD videos with it. As for gaming, older titles from PS2 era (up to 2005) would run fine. For example, it could run GTA IV at 800x600 at 30 FPS, which was expected performance on that console.
This is the experience those people who played gta 5 on some windows emulator on android, they actually played on settings like this 🤣 with average 15-20 fps they said it's playable and graphics was so good according to them
This is one of them GPUs where if you had it back in the day you were better off doing software rendering on your CPU. Had a few of those in my time. I dunno if moderns systems still allow you to do that, and if they do, I wouldn't know how it's done.
