éS Tom Penny Accel OG RS | Review 

éS are the Jordans of skateboarding.

When I found out ‘eS was back in business about 2 years ago I was so stoked. When I was a kid I would seriously just look at any new pair of skate shoes I got for hours. ‘eS were always my favorites. Now that I’m an adult and I can spend my money on whatever I want, I went crazy lmao. I have over 40 pairs of ‘eS shoes, and I bought a ton of hoodies, shirts, and pants. It’s all really high quality. I always get compliments from older skaters. I hope ‘eS can keep growing and compete with the titans of the industry. I’ll keep supporting for sure!

I grew up with this shoe, and it was so sick back than! But i have to say, im glad they made the slim version, fits more with my style today.

eS was my favorite as a kid, and is my favorite now as an adult. Best skate shoes hands down!

When I decided to get back on a board during the lockdowns and now in my 30's I was instantly drawn back to the OG Accel in the brown/gum. For one, I always wanted a pair when I was a kid but never was able to get them. For two, being older I wanted something puffy to protect my feet!. Now that I've been back riding for a while I think I'm gonna give the Accel Slims a try but they gotta be brown/gum. Something about the way the brown/gum looks on top of the black grip is just sick and always will be. So thank you éS for keeping it real and making the best skate shoes you got a life long fan with me.

That PJ shoe was the most fresh. Bring it back!

I started skating in 1995. Well technically I started Skateboarding in 1989 when my nieghboor gave me a Santa Cruz board. But I got a popsicle board around 95. In those days it was a good way to make friends. You could just get your board skate around and you would find people to skate with. We used to meet at a parking lot and do 3 minute runs. Everyone would get either a 1 minute or 3 minute run to skate whatever was around. And then they would get a number 1-10 on the run. I learned all my skate tricks doing this. Learned pop shovit, Ollie 180 , 50/50. nose and tail slides, boardslides on the curb, impossibles, some flatland tricks, and almost landed kickflips. I also learned how to ollie 2 to 3 feet in the air. I feel kind of bad for kids with the internet now, althouigh its amazing having all of the knowledge in the world at your fingertips,, we actually had to make a real effort to talk to other skaters to actually learn how to do tricks correctly. The good skaters would always give us some advice on things, and it was usually things we had not idea about, A kid we skated with had Europe 1995 411 VHS, and let me make a copy. This was when I fist saw Tom Penny skate Radlands park, he won the contest in the video. He and Simon Woodstock had really defined styles that were the legendary in the video. I cut my hair like the Tom Penny type bowl cut in the video, thought a lot of people had the bowl cut at the time. And I had a pair of Duffs Strombolies shoes at the time, then eventually ES Accel, and of course the ES Koston. I think I had 4 pairs of accels over the years. My favorite where the cream and black sole with the red interior. Very similar colorway to Kellys pro shoe.

Those brown/gum accels were the holy grail of skate shoes back when I started skating, never had a pair of that colorway but had a bunch of others and they were some of the best shoes I've skated. Don't think I could skate in them today though, I've gotten too used to slimmer shoes so I would just feel like I'd betrayed some mobster on every session if I skated in them now lol. Sick to see that they got the reverse stitches now too, the toe cap was always the first thing to blow out on them.

Being an late 90s early 00's skater, aside from either koston 1s, Reynolds 1s, or Marc johnson 1s, you just had to have a pair of accels, you just had to at least at one point otherwise you were almost shunned out of the skater group in school. I even picked up a pair a while back just to relive that history of my youth in skating, hell, Penny legit is the reason I wear loose fit clothes to this day 20+ years later also. It's awesome

Back to the roots, like a plant in a new season, it reflowers newly beautifull, eternally iconic. The 90's Excel's reminded me of the Sal 23s that followed my memory of the Etnies Natas with velcro lace protection. Can not wait to see let alone slip on a pair of these! Vans-a-holic bro.

So one thing I notice that may or may not have been brought up before is the gum color of the outsole...I'm used the the brown shoes having more of that orange gum color like the Kostons, Sal 23s, Reynolds 1s and the OG Accels from what I remember...

There’s just something special about the OG Accel. Favorite shoe of all time and I hope it never goes away! I rep these hella hard and am always stoked to pull out a fresh new pair after the current is roasted!

wish es would brind back the kevlar pad on the accel. loved the full black, brown gum, and the original grey with the kevlar patch. accel slims now are my go to cupsole

The ogs gum are still my favorite shoes i ever owned, so much shoegoo was used to try and keep them alive!

I bought OG’s back in 2018, I still wear the same pair nearly everyday. So extremely comfortable. Way more comfortable than a pair of D3’s I have.

first thing that blows on the accell is the stitching. on all shoes i super glue the stitches in the high wear areas before i skate them just so they keep their shape and will keep the panels together.

Have you done anything with the heelcup? I'm one of those people who slides their foot in, and the Accel ogs are chronic for brittle heelcups where they shatter. I still have some mint reds from the initial Japanese reissue, and they're mint but for the heelcup which is in several pieces floating around in the heel... Big fan of them, but always found that super annoying.

Do those heelflip like the Sal's? Or is it just bigger

Would love to see the Creager come back in the white with blue accent with the air bubble. Not sure if there are restrictions on those but those are hall of fame.

Is Es associated with Etnies anymore? I stopped skating in 98 abouts, but I remember the Es Koston high top with booty inside. I had white ones. But I think back in the mid 90s the leather MC Raps were the sickest shoes.

PLEASE DO THE OG JANOSKIS. And get the original black and white ones with the leather laces. Legit the greatest shoes of all time for so many skaters. The best vulc skate shoes ever made in terms of skateability, durability, and style on and off the board. The best shoes that came out in the modern era. All other vulcs paled in comparison. I know they're discontinued but i'm sure u guys know where to find a pair or two for the show. Not everyone has reverted back to wearing super baggy jeans for the puff shoe resurgance some still wear more normal fitted jeans.
