The fear of things looking too exaggerated on me is absolutely true as a pale person! You explained it perfectly. If a shade leans a little too warm it'll look BRIGHT orange on me
This happens ALL the time w/"neutral" lipsticks. There are brands I won't buy from anymore, b/c every single lipstick I tried went on looking like a neutral rose, etc...but after the 5-10 min. mark, they turn progressively more🍊. My lips themselves will get stained this florid, flaming pinky-orange.
I understand that Rose Quartz is purposefully designed to be a soft palette, which I appreciate as a pale person. However, I still personally prefer to have a shade that works within the context of the color-story, that is functionally darker than the rest (& NOT automatically black/charcoal). Something I can use to deepen up my crease or outer v, bump up a day look for evening, or use as liner. I don't particularly care about a palette being "all-in-one", but I do like to at least have that option/versatility. I also think it's kind of strange that Athr redid the format for the Rose Quartz palette, but is still releasing new palettes in the 12-pan format🤷🏻♀️.
Fr though that's so dumb. I never understand choices that makeup brands do or even businesses. Its like they all dropped their brains when deciding things.
@@thedylangirl i looked into it, and I liked the idea, but I don’t use glam bag, so I would have to get a regular bag + glam x, and for that money I might as well just buy the palette on it’s own because I don’t really want anything in the bags.🤷🏾♀️.
I am so excited to see looks from this palette, especially on darker skin tones! Thinking about those rich blues on deep skin tones is giving me happy feelings.
I bought the original Athr rose quartz palette after seeing you use it back when, and this just inspired me to pull it back out and play with some of those more unusual colours. After swatching them again, I feel really excited about using them all and hitting pan :)
Is it wrong that I wanna see you "struggle" to make a look with that jewel-toned palette?😜 I think it would be super fun to see you in colours that are outside your comfort zone for a change! I bet you could make it work!
I am soooo sensitive to soooo many brands but this brand works beautifully for me! I own three of palettes but this one is probably my favorite. I have not picked up the new palette but will when I hit pan. Great look…great video! Yay!
This was so so helpful to me. I just bought the rose quartz -new -because of your newer videos where you’ve mentioned it. I ALMOST bought the old one as well (on eBay) until I watched this!!! Thank you
I have to say, you're looking especially beautiful today, Kackie! I didn't think the concealer was too light. Your complexion is gorgeous! That Fenty Eaze Drop just suits you right down to the ground.
Augh you keep reviewing these beautiful pink eyeshadow palettes and I want them all. First the Venetian Rose then the Roen and now the Athr. Could you do another eyeshadow ranking video? I think an update would be super helpful
Thanks for this helpful review Kackie! It's been interesting to follow Athr's rebranding and they seem to be doing a great job. I picked up the new version of the Rose Quartz Palette and have been so impressed. I admittedly struggled some with the formula of the original one and am happy that it definitely seems like they made some great improvements. The middle four shimmers are easier to use and more impactful and the mattes have less fall out and a bit more pigment. : ) Am hoping that they do bring back the lip cremes (looks like they're going to as they are listed as a section on the website). They were so beautiful! Thanks again for the video and have a great week!
Rose quartz is my favorite palette!! I feel like the new one lacks interesting shades and some depth. It’s pretty though. There is so much I love about the Moonlight palette but it may be too colorful for me. I can’t wait to see some videos on it.
Thank you for the great video! I had already ordered the new ATHR rose quartz palette (my first legit palette ever!) and was even more prepared and excited to use it after watching your video. You’ve inspired me to try new things and really find joy in makeup again. Thank you!
Heyyy, thanks for the comparison, Kackie. I recently got the original rose quartz palette, so I have to play with it more before I have a solid opinion. That said, since this new rose quartz palette is permanent, I’m in no hurry to grab it. You bet your patootie I’m getting that moonlight palette. I’m as fair as you, easily, but I have grey-green eyes, and now salt&pepper hair. Trying to figure out what looks good with my middle aged coloring. Curious if you’ll get it sent to you. One of my all time fav eye pencil colors is biotherm 165, and I keep hoping ATHR pops up with a colour twin in one of the eyeshadow palettes. 165 is a very light, shimmery, taupe pewter that is a skosh lighter than my eye color. It defines without closing off my eyes, which are not large, and set pretty far behind my brow & cheekbones. Ought to post a swatch of it on Instagram at some point. Come on lip creams! Thanks again, Kackie.
Lovely, helpful video as always. I never got the original but considering the updated version. Your love of this brand is what made me get more of their products in the first place and I really enjoy the things I have - beautiful eyeshadow and blush formulas.
This palette (the original) is one of the only things I’ve tried that worked for you but was too cool for me. I am looking forward to the Moonlight palette because teals and purples tend to look good on me in moderation.
I don’t have the Rose Quartz palette, but I do have Summer Solstice and this video inspired me to use it today. The colors and formula are so good, probably my favorite powder shadow formula. I did a look today just applying with my fingers and it’s so effortless and gorgeous. Think I need to pick up the Rose Quartz!
The video I've been waiting fooooorr!!! man, the new one really looks better and dialed in. but I already have the OG, I will probably wait for another update.
I am also looking for something a little muted and neutral more blush browns, slightly warm. The summer solstice is full on warm and orangey with some strangely purple shades. I want warm neutral! Basics! I feel you!
I can’t wait to see what else the rebrand brings! I really want the new rose quartz palette (I never had the first version but I have other palettes from the brand that I love) and this looks like the perfect go-to eyeshadow palette for me!!!
While watching this I was browsing Athr Beauty's website. That Moonlight palette gave me shivers! Those shades are absolutely not for me but oh my goodness I need to see them on someone!
Thank you for this review. I was wondering about this palette. I didn’t care for their warm version of this palette. I just didn’t like the shimmer shades. They just fell a little flat for my taste. I love their quads, Topaz & Ametrine. I used your code when I purchased the warm palette about six months ago. I believe I got maybe 10% off my purchase.
I like this color story. I just purchased the Wayne Goss Luxury Eye Palette in Pearl. This one is soft and romantic with a bit more variety. I will most likely purchase it at some point.
I bought this palette originally for the Aphrodite grey. Kinda bummed they did away with that color. EDIT: Wait, they kept it! But somehow it looks different.
Anything with the word rose in it is my favorite color story, so it does appeal to me. I do think that I will pass on it mostly b/c I am slowly trying to save for the Rose pallet from Pat McGrath. A trick for wearing colors that may be too saturated or doesn’t look good with your skin tone is use it as an eyeliner. I tend to use the Danessa Myrick Color Fix in Latte all over and then add a fun pop (usually some sort of jewel tone) as a liner. Also I literally thought “Kackie would be proud” when I layered three cream blushes on my face yesterday. I am hardcore blush fam now and there is no turning back. I even tried a plum on my cheeks, I just need a fjord blush and my collection will feel more complete.
I want to hang that Moonlight palette on my wall. More talented hands than mine would have to put it on my eyes in a non-laughable manner, methinks. But it’s stuck in my head now, so who knows?
I DID end up collecting all the Athr/Aether palettes (including this new Rose Quartz) and realizing that they're not all for me. I'm really considering the Moonlight palette because they are my FAVORITE colors, like, in general, but as far as eyeshadow goes, I haven't worn colors like that in a really long time, so... maybe I won't. (But I do already have all their other palettes, so it's really hard fighting that urge to leave that ONE stone unturned...)
I feel like I really tried to make the diamond dust highlight work.. I even bought both colors at different times and always found them to be chunky :( They look fabulous on you, but I am so confused what I am missing or doing wrong lol
Adore the packaging redesign. A little confused (as others seem to be) that other new release is not packaged similarly. I personally appreciate an "all in one" aspect to a palette where I can create a work/soft/going out look all in one. Thus, I'm sad that there isn't (much) of a real deepening or eyeliner shade. 😢 I love the packaging, love the cool tones/story inspo, love as always the sustainability and vegan/CF factor ATHR presents, but don't think I can go for this re-release sadly.
This new palette is everything I wanted the first one to be, but it's true that it's not for everyone. I ended up giving mine away because it just didn't work on my skin, but thats ok. Joshua tree worked wayy better for me!
I just received the moonlight crystal palette in my ipsy...I noticed a year ago it looked way different I don't think this pallet has any matte but I could be wrong I swatched and they seem all shiny
@@kackie maybe that's why lol I seen the purple one and assumed it was the same as the one I got... thankfully I was wrong it does has some matte I was able to get one decent look so far but would love to see more!
Astarte (the funky blue taupe, which is the main thing stopping me from buying that cursed Victoria Beckham Mink eyeshadow) is my favorite shade and the gray shades they removed are two of my most-used everyday shades! I must be the polar opposite of everyone else in Athr's market research, ha.
I agree w/you, too...The greys, taupes, & shifty shades are what made the palette unique to what's on the market. IMO, it now looks like just a marginally cooler-toned version of all of the other vaguely pinky-rosy-mauvy toned palettes out there.🤷🏻♀️
