The town of Čadca is located in the northwestern part of Slovakia, in the northern part of the Kysuce region. It is the gateway to Slovakia from the Czech Republic and Poland. The first written mention of the town is from 1565. Currently, Čadca is a district town in the Žilina region. It lies on the banks of the river Kysuca and its tributaries and is surrounded by vast mountain ranges - Kysucké Beskydy, Javorníky, Turzovská vrchovina.
