Łódź uprising (Also known as the June uprising) began as a worker's protest in the city of Łódź, mainly in the Factories of Scheibler, Poznański and Geyer, which then turned into riots. During the following days nearby Russian Infantry units supported the garnison in breaking the polish resistance, which by this point had an organised manner.
By different sources about 2000 civilians were killed in Łódź
It was a part of the revolution of 1905, which also had major clashes in Petersburg and Warsaw
The song itself is a remake of a more popular "Warszawianka" (Song of Warsaw) from the same period
Bolesław Lubicz-Zahorski is the author of the lyrics
