This table fan had what appears to be a common problem among all these cheap fans:
the motor axle has sleeve bearings and not roller bearings, so after a while it got stuck.
The cure: diesel fuel.
A few drops of diesel in the axle bearings and it's good as new. The diesel has a natural oily texture and it works like a lubricant that tends to unstuck various metals.
These fans are also quite easy to disassemble and put back again.
The propeler cover has clips all around and the propeler itself is held in place with a reversce screw cap (it tightens when turned counter-clockwise and releases when turned clockwise). After removind the propeler, there is a second screw cap that holds the back propeper cover in place, (this is a normal thread screw). The next step is the front cover of the motor, which is either held in place with screws or with clips, and the final part is the back cover of the motor which is held in place either with clips or with a single screw in the back.
In order to remove the motor back cover, you will have to remove the gear box engager, which is either a clip on or it's held in place with a screw.
Depending on the motor construction, you may or may not have to remove the rear gear box. If you have access to the rear bearing with a small stick or better yet a siringe neaddle, you can apply a few dropplets of diesel on the bearing to lubricate it, and similarly apply a few drops on the front bearing. If you can do this without removing the gearbox, then all good.
The stuck axle may have to be turned a few times, but eventually it will get unstuck and it will turn better than new.
Puting everything back again is simply the reverse proccess. The only step to be carefull is the screwing of the propeler cap, which is a reverse screw. You tighten it by turning it counter-clockwise, oposite to the fan's spin, so you don't realy have to tighten it too hard. It will tighten with the fan's rotation.
Nice and easy fix, anyone can do it. Only thing to remember is to have it unpluged when working on it.
Now if you smell burned wire when you turn on the fan or if it's still stuck, then don't operate it. The motor may be burned out, so remove it from the plug immediately.
Another point to remember is that it may get stuck again after a while, in which case you may have to spray some grease lubricant on the axle. But this is usually not the norm. Most of the times it works great just with the diesel fuel.
