Everyone should experience the beauty and awesomeness of Alaska. Immerse yourself in the culture outside of the large cities and visit some of the different villages scattered throughout not as a tourist but as a considerate neighbor. I thought Oregon was "God's Country" until I visited Alaska and worked among the villages around Prince William Sound. Tatitlek was a favorite and Angoon is where I learned to "drive" a fishing boat and caught salmon and halibut. Don't wear a watch. Everything gets done in its own time.

Shirley, Glad you got “ a piece of Alaska “! Lived over much of Alaska over the years, still Kodiak island, the inside passage area, Wrangell, prince of Wales island are so unique, and Sitka! I have flown all around AK with the best bush pilots on earth up here by floatplane, no place like misty fjords, or Denali on a clear day, and Wrangell, st Elias area!😉👍

You should be happy tourists come by. It shows that other people are interested in Alaska’s beauty. And if you don’t like it, move to Mississippi. Nothing going on there. No concerns about tourists at all.

It is very cold, but I'd recommend traveling there during the warmer months (April, May, June, and possibly July). It rains a lot during the summer, especially near the coast or at sea level. Other than that expect beautiful weather, great scenery, and awesome wildlife. During the winter months it'll just be tons of snow though.
