Listening to this after "Goodbye Internet" was released. I hope even after Mat isn't involved anymore that his and Ronnie's contributions aren't forgotten by the Internet.

I lost a close friend a little over a year ago to suicide, I know how much it hurts, how much those "whys" and "what ifs" plague you. I also know you won't read this, but 5 years on I hope you're doing okay. Enjoy your channel retirement, and take care of yourself

5 years later and matthew has done his final video and is retired. he just did a wired interview and still gives credit to ronnie. absolutely the most incredible friend, ronnie is so proud of you matthew, he's still a part of your team

When I heard the tremble in poor matpats voice, my heart shattered as I realized what had happened and tears were rolling down my face. My heart goes out to Ronnie, no matter how long it’s been. When the camera zoomed in and Mat stared straight in the camera and said, “you are no alone” as he cried was the point where the tears started rushing faster. I often wonder, have had COUNTLESS thoughts of who would miss me, cry over me, because I don’t feel valued outside my close knit high school community (the teachers and I, not really the students) and my family. As of late, a friend I had been talking to stopped responding to my messages. It’s been 11 days since he said goodnight to me. Another friend I have JUST reconnected with has fallen off the face of the earth and has not answered my calls or texts on both Snapchat (which I got for him, not because I actually wanted it. I hate social media.) and iMessage. It’s hard to believe I’m not alone. I just try to imagine what would happen if I went too soon, and go on with my life.

We all mis Ronnie dearly, and even though that he is gone, we will not forget him.

Matpats voice is so comical when he’s happy, but when he’s serious like this it is genuinely moving. I know you’ll never see this but you have definitely made an impact, this video will have saved lives and that at least is something. Ronnie sounds like someone I would have liked and I’m broken by how people can just... die, I’m not very good at articulating my feelings through text but just know that me and all of the people who saw this feel this with you.

It’s difficult learning of news like this. Losing a friend, loved one, someone you care not only about, but care for. I’ve been through this twice. My little brother and my dad. It’s like when you find out, it literally feels like part of you is just ripped away without warning, one second you’re fine and the next, theirs this CRATER in your soul that actually feels like a part of you is physically gone. In the moments after learning of the news, one is left gasping for a respite from the indescribable pain. I was numb. There was this silence most likely in my own head. My body tingled with such a deep sorrow… I kept saying “he was just here, I just saw him”. I got emotional listening to you sharing your experience. How it feels for you. How much it hurts. The pain got less for me. But to this day, I get angry when I remember my brother was taken from me at only 8. It makes me angry. Not at anyone. At the loss I guess. I just get angry. My dad hurt just as much but it wasn’t as much of a surprise. I’m sorry for your tremendous loss. I’m a sub to your channels and love your creativity and story telling. You have a great heart and a bright soul. Thank you for sharing your experience, I can relate and I know many others can also relate.

The saddest thing was that I noticed. INSTANTLY at the beginning of the video, that his voice was sad and Mat just sounded broken.

I offer my condolences, we will honour his memory, and the theorist community will continue to do so and support those affected by his loss.

I've had negatives thoughts straight after my dad died,locking myself away and refusing to speak to family. Matpat you have helped so much and I respect you to the upmost for all you have done for us as a community.

i lost a friend to suicide less than a month ago. i met them through the internet, and we planned on meeting up in the near future. i am slowly realizing that isnt possible anymore, i am slowly realizing i wont be able to cook them the food i promised or buy them that figurine they loved so much for their upcoming birthday. i hope all the pain and worry they feel are no more, i hope they're finally at peace.
