Bike Radar , check Rose bikes . I think they easily win Best Value category without any doubt . For example for £ 1,435.76 you get a Rose Xeon RS-3000 (2014) fully equiped with Shimano Ultegra , half a kilo lighter (6.98 kg) and a lot cheaper than Boardman Pro C SLR. Thank you and happy easter !
Sign up to halfords business account and buy vouchers at 10% off face value. Sign up to British cycling and get their 10% off discount card. Wait for Halfords next 10% off deal. Combine all those deals and you buy that bike for £1313. Thats what i did...
I had a Boardman carbon road bike that I bought from Halfords. The steerer collapsed due to a manufacturing defect - elements of the bladder were still left inside. I was thrown to the floor and knocked out. Words, and life, are cheap but I'm lucky to be alive; my back is still in bad shape eighteen months later. They've admitted liability. Bought a Boardman MTB around the same time which had a visible frame defect that I noticed when I got it home and Halford's also failed to set the bike up or do any pre-inspection. David and Goliath-esque, I had to take them to court just to get my money back in the end - successfully. Unethical companies to deal with.
+Awesome Super Really? Took them to court?? Honestly??? Have had a Boardman Team Carbon for a couple of years now, and its a fantastic bike - have friends who own Boardman bikes and have never heard anything but praise for Boardman, then you came along. Just curious about your experience with Boardman. Please elaborate!
I bought two Boardman bikes around the same time (mountain bike and Team Carbon Road). Mountain bike had an obvious manufacturing defect in the frame, Halfords wouldn't give me my money back so I successfully took them to court. Then, my road bike collapsed under me - again, a manufacturing remnant (bladder) had been left in the steerer structurally weakening it and causing the collapse. You appreciate life when you know you're lucky still to have one. And yes, I thought my Boardman bike was great... Right up to the point where it nearly killed me.
+Awesome Super I have also had issues with mine, notably the fork. I took it to my local bike shop and they told me to ask to have it changed for security reasons, and still being under warranty I contacted Wiggle from where I bought it. After numerous weeks of talking to costumer service, they still haven't done anything about it and Boardman itself is near-impossible to contact so I have been training indoors for the last 3 months not knowing what to do. This issue aside, the bike (Team Carbon 2014) itself is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone if only the customer support was better.
Sincerilly: Bike Radar, I dont see any bugget diference with others common American manufacters as Trek, Specialized, Marin, Cannondale, Giant, Felt, 1,800 euro, mean about $2,400 US dollars, with Ultegra. Nothing significative.
Things are generally a lot more expensive on this side of the Atlantic, due to taxes. For example, the Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra costs £2500 in the UK, which is US$4200. We have to prop up all these socialist regimes somehow!
I WISH PEOPLE WOULD STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW DIRTY THESE BIKES ARE. I FOR ONE LIKE TO KEEP MY BIKE CLEAN BUT IT SHOWS THAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY RIDING THEM IN ORDER TO DO THEIR REVIEW. I FOR ONE APPRECIATE THAT THEY ARE NOT TREATED AS MUSEUM PIECES BUT RATHER ACTUAL BIKES THAT ARE RIDDEN.
Agreed, it's not a budget bike, but it does offer an incredible amount for the money. We'll be looking at less expensive bikes later in the year, so stay tuned.
