Floks 700 - The name of the city "Vladivostok" is translated from Russian as OWN, to rule over the East😋 - although, if you really want to, you can paraphrase this name and as "To be in harmony, in harmony with the East." Russia has two such cities with similar names - Vladivostok in the Far East and Vladikavkaz in the North Caucasus. The name of this second city can be translated as "To own, rule over the Caucasus" - or, "To be in harmony, in harmony with the Caucasus". There is a funny ambiguity in the definition of these names.😎 There is also a third city in Russia with a similar name, it is called "Vladimir" and this city is about a thousand years old, its name can be translated as "To own the World, to rule over the world" - but you can just see in this name one of the old Slavic male names - this also has a certain initial ambiguity.☺

Its quite interesting to see how different russia can be to popular belief here in sweden. We always view russia as this dystopian, cold-hearted, poor hell of alcoholism and crime, but thanks to videos like this and speaking with russians, my views of The country have changed a lot.
Thank you, over the past 10 years, people began to drink much less alcohol, smoking goes out of fashion, people have become more active in physical education, running, riding bicycles. In terms of crime, Vladivostok is safe. Of course, the gap in the level of infrastructure development in Western Europe and Eastern Russia is still very deep, but we are reducing it every year, in this video you can see it. We have appeared Russian cars on the roads, we have an inexpensive and fast Internet, the assortment of seafood is growing, a lot of fish at affordable prices, more and more tourists come to us every year. There are prospects for the development of our coastal region, and they are being realized.
I agree this is the image oven painted. And perhaps it is not always untrue. I visited Moscow in 1992 and it was drab. The food was dreadful. Russia has to find its own way. I think the 'shock therapy' policies following the fall of communism eg mass wholesale privatisations etc were a mistake. Clinton, the IMF and Jeffrey Sachs have something to answer for here. The result was appalling income inequality, corruption, oligarchs,, dysfunction. Perhaps Sweden is a model of a successful mixed economy they can follow.

Vladivostok is a beautiful city, though a lot of cars and old public transport but nature compensates for everything. Magnificent bridges, beautiful bays. The city has great prospects, I would even say huge. Soon there will be a mortgage at 2% per annum and throughout the far East. I changed the comment, as the mortgage at 2 percent has already started to operate from December 2019. That people came there to live and develop the region. As always an excellent report. Hugged bro
It was a prospect since the Russian empire due to its location, it may grow. however it just stays like that. just a promise. It was important as Japanese autos were imported to Russia via the city, at the start of this century. since that stopped. just natural resources and services are left in the city. a mortgage with 3% may look attractive but with the cost of living there with American real state prices, it sounds crazy..
@@warclan5429 American prices in Vladivostok? The cost of a month's rent of an apartment of 40 square meters in Vladivostok is 12 000 rubles is 186,85 dollars. On Sakhalin island will be built railway bridge across the Tatar Strait and on the other side of the island of IMU agreement with Japan on the connection of Russian Sakhalin with Japanese Hokkaido. A lot of people from Ukraine, who worked at aircraft factories and shipbuilding, have already moved to the far There are problems and a lot of them, but they are planned to be solved. And the far Eastern economic forum which is taking place in Vladivostok speaks only of how important the far East is for Russia
@MetraMan09 The city is growing, its population is growing every year. I think the complexity of construction hinders its faster development. After all, it is easier to build a city on a plain than on hills among dozens of bays. and Yes, in winter there is a lot of snow and roads freeze and it is very problematic to go uphill. There are also real typhoons, the One that hits Japan and China and Korea. after the sanctions imposed by the West against Russia, the government pays more attention to the Far East as trade with Asia began to grow exponentially. The trade turnover with China alone reached $ 120 billion. China is buying more and more from Russia every year, so the city will definitely grow

I really appreciate that you took the time to interview locals and tourists alike. When I visited Kyrgyzstan and Kazakstan, the locals expressed the same sentiment- these lesser known Russian/Former Soviet regions just want to share their pride of joy of their cultural identity with the world. It's unfortunate when government fails to step up to do more for its people- something as simple as enough trash cans and national park maintenance. In Russia they used to have something called, I think "Subotnik?" Every Saturday they got together in groups to clean up their towns and cities. I think there might have been some pressure from the state to "volunteer", but the result was nice.
It's still rare in Russia too see people that pick up the rubbish, we do subbotnik's mainly in spring when there is a lot of trash outside accumulated in winter
Yeah, back in Eltsin years most of towns was pretty dirty. No trash bins, and culture of keeping city clean was lost in USSR. But in the last 20 years this was improved. People start to care about it, government build alot of trash bins (never mention how important this things are untill you dont have them around)... Ofc many things still must be improved in this area, but progress already made. Honestly things like this is better signs about good change in my country than big construction or military projects.
