Few people know that Yugoslavia had its own nuclear program and was a few steps away from creating an atomic bomb. After the Second World War, when all the leading world powers joined the race to create nuclear weapons, Josip Broz Tito, as an ambitious politician, could not stand aside, and the search for uranium deposits began in the country, and in 1963 the first uranium mine in Yugoslavia was opened .
It workes for a short time, only three years and was closed in 1966, according to one version, as a result of political intrigues of the country's top leadership. To date, the uranium mine is abandoned, but is not officially considered closed. There are many rumors and legends around him.
In this video, we will try to figure out what is true and what is fiction in the history of this mine and the nuclear program of Yugoslavia as a whole. And, of course, we will visit the territory of the mine, measure the background radiation and try to get into the most polluted and dangerous places of this mine.
