Its more like devs wanted to make people see it that way, in reality the "PL" variant was essentially a Leo 2A4 upgrade to the levels of 2A6/7 but with some electronics replaced for modern Polish variants, all armies prefer it that way cuz they dont have to pay extra money for eventual repairs so its understandable. Other than that the upgrade meant to increase the turrets survivability to levels higher than the 2A5's Turret which Polish army also has so they probably know how protected it is. Upgrade meant to increase both frontal and even side protection of the turret through addition of extra panels to the sides. So the fact that the "2PL" has worse survivability than the 2A5/6 is just stupid model mistake made by devs which i believe will be fixed eventually since its just not accurate. Besides all modern tanks in this game have fictional values made up by some russians that surely arent biased at all lol. Oh and almost forgot, the Leo 2PL upgrade was made with cooperation of the Germans.

I played that thing and while it kinda works Against ground tanks, you get gangraped by enemy airplanes and your gun kind of doesn't work against planes unless you snipe the pilot or shot at the engine
