You forgot to mention that the game is designed so that you run out of XP and upgrade materials at around level 14 and need to spend literally hours and hours doing the most horrible boring side quests just to be able to progress to the next main quest. Ubisoft then offer a way around this by spending real money to get all the upgrade materials and XP you need, but I did not expect IGN to mention this, you don't want to upset the hand that feeds you!

Please, Ubisoft, make in an AC in ancient China and feudal Japan. Edit: This aged so well!

They should do an Assassin’s Creed set maybe somewhere in the Aztec empire in the Spanish conquest where you play an Aztec assassin, something similar to the movie Apocalipto

Am I the only one that thinks it's funny how people are complaining that this isn't Assassin's Creed because you're a Greek soldier, while they praised Black Flag even though you were a pirate?

not gonna lie, super mario odyssey took a weird turn with this sequel.

I found it ironic how people before Origins were saying that "it's just another AC game" and now that ubisoft has put in work and effort to change the series people are saying "it's not an AC game".

I swear the world map is SOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL. Absolutely massive and filled with detail.

If we're being honest, this is most likely a solid game. The reason gamers will be up in arms will be the AC label on it.

3 years later, they still release new content for free. Such an amazing and great game.

Odyssey might be a solid game, but on October 26th, the master of open world is nigh.

It's strange that so many of the die-hard AC fans are against the series evolving. I 100% welcome all the RPG-style customization that Origins introduced, and I'm glad to see they are taking it even further with Odyssey.

Anybody else watching after they already played?

I played this after finishing RDR2 and the Witcher. Naturally I got overwhelmed by the grind and literally deleted the game at level 15. I re downloaded and now this is one my favorite ever games Jesus it’s amazing. My first assassins since the first game.

Like the Assassins Creed from last year I will wait to the Christmas sale. Nothing against the game but just too much backlog.

This game is soooooooo big. So much fun! The map is massive and the quests are endless.

One of the prettiest game ive ever played. The setting is just absolutely beautiful, esp if you also got atlantis.

The most fun I had was fighting the Minotaur. When I fought it and took forever. When I first started I realized I should grind a bit then when I leveled up and fought it, it was so fulfilling when I beat it.

I've been playing as Kassandra on assassin's creed odessey and I'm always trying to do the right thing but there are some decisions that leaves me feeling queezy when you choose to save the family that has the blood plague, if you save them the starting island get decimated by a plague if you don't Kassandra's friend looses her best that left me feeling queezy after that quest, I love the packs that gives different ships and officers for your ship I love the character captain octopus he's a bit like Davey Jones and my favourite ship pack is the sirens song ship pack it would neat if there was a flying Dutchman ship pack I would definitely get that

Getting mobbed by an entire army over & over gets old but that’s because I always run in and don’t sneak around much. If you take your time & immerse into the beautiful ancient world it’s really amazing!

I've reached 70 level, killed total cult of kosmos , upgraded Leonidas spear level 6,completed story, side missions and very much everything.. I wonder why I keep on playing this game... It's captivating soo much I dream of alexios being me 😉

Funny how back in june everybody shitted on this game, because it was Origins 2.0, and now it’s rated by many as the best AC since Black flag, even higher than Origins

9.2 - cause hating on AC is so 2015

For anyone interested this game is currently 20 dollars on the ps store and the gold edition is 32

at first I thought that it was a lazy-quickly-glued-together game of the Origin. But when I played the game I quickly realized how great it is and with so many previous bugs fixed from the Origin game. I can't stop playing it. Well worth it

This game doesn’t even look like a Assassin’s Creed game anymore. What happened to hoodies, hidden blades, and tomahawk chops? Well, either way I think I’ll pick this up when the price drops. (Edit: Guys, chill. 😂 I only said “hoodies, hidden blades, and tomahawk chops” because, 1. The hoods stayed true to the assassin kind of feel. 2. Hidden blades were what made being an assassin so fun and original in the stealth element in the first place. 3. Tomahawk chops because Connor is the most badass assassin in my opinion. Plus, AC3 stays as my number one AC game right next to Brotherhood. 4. I’m just keeping it real. I’m not saying that Odyssey is gonna be bad or anything either, it’s just from what it looks like, most of what we once grew up with has changed and that’s not a bad thing. It’s just the word, “assassin” won’t fit in as well anymore.)

one of ac odyssey great details are the songs because some of them are actually greek songs. the song played in the beginning of the game is called "Odyssey "

They nailed the RPG aspect of this game, so much levelling up and upgrading you can do... I remember how Assassin's Creed 2 only had like 4 armor sets! It takes so much skill to work archery into melee combat, but it can be done! The auto-lock lets you quick-aim onto enemies, even during heated battles.

Shout out to my dawg Connor. Still remember you after all these years fam.

The moment that I checked by the statues for new contracts and saw a bounty on a fellow mercenary before completing it because I needed the money was the moment that it truly set in that I was just another mercenary

The 2 types of people in the comments; 1. The gamers who fell in love with the series that had historical accuracy, lovely music, captivating characters and an actual "Assassins creed" 2. The kids who just plays origins and odessey because they are "fun RPG's" *Notice* Type 2. people should go play witcher instead, it's a much better RPG....by the way if you want to know what the true assassins creed games really stood for play any other AC game except Origins and Odessey

I thoroughly finished RDR2 & recently got Odyssey..... I must say, I'm around 36hrs in - if you don't mind the grind it's a solid game. Definetely the best in the franchise, I haven't grinded an ac game this hard since Black Flag. Just explore, do the MAIN SIDE QUESTS (gold exclamation marks), complete objectives in your area & then you'll always be 1-2 levels higher than your story mission and then don't need to buy time savers. The effort is worth it as the main story is really engaging - definetely a +1. /discuss

I enjoyed Origins way more but Odyssey just had a sense of scale and freedom because of the naval combat and customization that I really enjoyed!

If I read another 'this isn't assassin's creed' or 'it doesn't compare to Witcher 3' I'm gonna puke. All you highly intelligent people who like only to complain could instead appreciate the effort that Ubisoft made in order to create this amazing game packed with content and the evolution of the series from the earlier games (of which you were also complaining). Great review IGN!

If all those people who keep saying that this is no longer AC were actually making games, GTA would still be a 2D with a top view. I've been an AC fan since 2007 and it makes me so happy how the series gets bigger and bigger with each game. I can't even imagine what they'll do next.

AC: Liberation you played as a woman. AC Chronicles: China you played as a woman. AC Syndicate you played as a brother/sister pair, switching between missions and your choice during free roam. "First AC game that lets you play exclusively as a woman" So none of those previous 3 games qualify for letting you play as a woman?

I've completely ignored the AC series since the first game but I'm glad I gave it another chance with Odyssey. I easily put in 150+ hours and I'm not even done yet. Right now, this game is at the top of my open world games list.

Just finished the main story with Alexios after 50-ish hours of gameplay. I took my time and I plan to keep playing. It's a fantastic RPG that improved on Origins in every way, which wasn't an easy task, to be fair. Loved the combat, the characters, the world, the sidequests, the main story. Ignore the haters, it's a fantastic game that's worth every penny.

Wow I remember in Assassins creed you where an Assassin

Only issue I have with these new AC games is the new combat stuff - hate how 1 bloke needs 45 hits from a sword to take him down. It also means we have levelled areas that even effect stealth because sadly stealth kills ain't always instant finishes anymore which isn't how it should be.

Oddysey and black flag are my favorite. I really like what they did to odyssey and changed it up a bit. I found almost everything to be fun and the mythical creatures fights were the best. I will recommend it to almost everyone unless you don't like RPGs but in this one, the grinding isn't as hard as in other games.
