As a a complete beginner I started learning this three months ago thinking it’ll take me at least a year . Today as I was playing this whole piece on my piano I was overwhelmed with joy and in awe of myself . Thank you Brennan for providing this tutorial as I still don’t know how to read sheet music and this made it so much easier for me 😅
WOWWW this comment makes me so happy 🥺🥺 nice job!!!! You should be extremely proud of yourself❤️ PS I don’t use sheet music either! Never let anyone tell you that you have to know it for you to be a pianist. I disagree :)
@@BrennanChilds Thank you so much for saying this! I can't read sheet music very well but I can play piano relatively decently! I just want to play well to play fun songs that I enjoy. Can't wait to start learning this piece! (It's next on my list so I'm going to start learning it right after finals) :)
@NikiPg3d i saw your comment under public piano interstellar video. thanks for sharing this, gonna start learning this when i’m done learning golden hour.
I have same feeling! Best Interstellar tuto you can find on RU-vid, by far!

I played piano for a year and then dropped it for 2 or 3 years due to school's getting hard and my university exam getting closer. Then after my university exam has finished I kinda want to get back on piano but I don't really have the courage to just learn all the things I forgot. Then when I was searching on the web for a piece that I can work on I came across this magnificent tutorial on such a beautiful channel (which is my favourite piano channel from now on) and I decided to learn it. I'm thanking you for making me gain my courage and motivation again. And I'm pretty sure this is by far the best tutorial of this masterpiece on RU-vid. So thank you for this tutorial and all your other tutorials. You deserve millions. I want to thank you with this but couldn't get anything more because of currency in my country. Stay safe.
This comment made me SO HAPPY!!!!!!! You have no idea!! That is exactly my goal of my channel so to hear you say that means a lot to me. Nice work on learning this piece!! It’s not easy so you should be proud of yourself. Best of luck on your piano journey and thank you so much for the support on my channel💜💜
I´ve consulted many tutorials but noone explains better than Brennan. She´s a gem and this channel is criminally underrated. Please keep on posting more in-depth tutorials.
ive been playing the piano for 7 years now and recently my frnd played this piece on stage and i never thought id be able to play it after i saw her practice but this tutorial has really summed it doen and made it easier and helped A LOT!
Me and my whole family had a reunion together in a restaurant and I told my cousin I play piano, so he told me that when he comes to my house he wants to hear me play interstellar on piano. I was desperate to find a piano tutorial on interstellar. Finally I found your channel. You even made it in depth and u make it so easy that u taught a nine year old girl still in grade 2 to play this song. Thank u Brennan! I really appreciate your hard work.😊
I can tell a lot of hard work goes into your videos, because it takes a lot of hidden effort to make something seem so effortless. You're a great teacher, cheers
Thanks to you i was able to learn this really fast! You are so underrated, I hope you get million subs soon! (This is just a little amount I thought I at least should give as you helped me so much)
Hey brennan , thanks for your absolute incredible epic content . This was the most complete interstellar tutorial on youtube . I've just learned it completely. Truly appreciate your great content again ! 🙏🏻
I've been playing the keyboard on and off for about 7 years now and wanted to play this song since I watched the movie in 2017. Never really got the hang of it except the main easy part until I found this video 3 days ago. It's been 3 days and now I can easily play all the major parts very well and it's all because of this video, thank you so much for making this and helping people like me learn this masterpiece, you really made it very easy to learn. I can't believe I'm playing the music that I once felt was impossible.
Hey Brennen, after following your channel for some time now I just wanted to say thank you for the learning opportunities you enable! Starting with this piece though I decided to actually switch to reading sheet music instead of watching tutorials and try a more advanced version by Patrik Pietschmann. And now after a month of dedication I’m finally able to play it! 🚀 Thank you for being part of my and many others journey to start and keep practising the piano. Best of all for your future. Cheers! ❤️
you explain it so well that I am a fan of you. I am glad that your channel came out to me. I am grateful for all your videos, you always teach my favorites🌸. I am so glad to have you.❤️love from Turkey❤️❤️❤️
The magic of music is what brings us all here, i started because of Covid and trying to learn something to help with stresses, doing film and TV as a career i understand how music brings a film together, i now use it to write film ideas based on the idea of what the emotion of the piece entails Interstellar is a brilliant piece which serves awe and wonder yet tragedy at the same time
Wow I absolutely love that!! It’s funny you say that because one of my goals is to end up writing film scores for movies. I love the collaborative aspect of movie making and how it incorporates all kinds of different artistic fields. I’m happy to hear you’re pursuing piano, let me know how it goes!
@BrennanChilds its going well, so far im self taught but once ive finished my degree im going to look for a tutor, the most complicated thing i can play right now is oppenheimers can you hear the music (granted at a slower speed)
I'm going to record my progress here in the comments. I am fifteen years old and I've been playing the piano for one year. 🎹 - DAY 1: I've learnt the intro and it's quite easy. I'm gonna keep practicing. - DAY 2: I can play the intro pretty good. I'm learning the right hand of the part 1 and it seems impossible, but I'm gonna keep practicing it. - DAY 3: Today I joined the right hand and left hand of part 1. After hours of practicing I can play the song until the end of part two easily, but always with some mistakes. - DAY 4: I made it to the first variation of the main theme! I'm really proud of myself. - DAY 5: I've learned the second variation and I have to practice it. I also took a look at section three and I can do it slowly. - DAY 6: I can play the variation 2 good and I can play the section 3 faster. The variation 3 of the main theme is really hard. - DAY 7: Section 3 is easier but sometimes I make little mistakes. Variation 3 continues being hard.
Never played piano in my life, I'm 44. Always thought not for me even if I love it. But this piece of art, I started to play few notes of it this week. Loved it as it lets you improvise naturally. The feeling and emotions are amazing. Looked for a great tuto. Found you. Today I will begin to learn and determined to play it full. Thanks Brennan for guiding me in the next months. Have a wonderful day. Otto Nova Kapitano
That is wonderful! This comment made me smile😊😊Very well done on learning this tricky song, it’s definitely not an easy one so you should be proud of yourself. I’m so happy I could help!🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much, I've been looking forever, I'll be subscribing as well, this absolutely playable by a beginning when described like this. I've been playing for less than a year and can almost play this perfectly. Thank you so much
This tutorial was extremely helpful to me; as an intermediate pianist, I struggled to keep the rhythm correct; after watching this tutorial, I was easily able to decipher it. Thank you very much.
I just started learning piano at 28, and this is one of my favourite pieces to learn. With my other piano courses online, practicing this song using the sheet music and lesson you put together keeps me going! I can already play the first part with minimal mistakes, shooting for perfect on that part! Thanks for the videos and sheet music that was created.
I'm French I never comment but it was just to congratulate you on your work I never thought I could play interstellar one day you are exceptional thank you for everything, you explain wonderfully well 💓💓
Awww thank you!!! Good question, for the pedal it generally follows the left hand so whenever you change chords/keys you lift off and push back down on the pedal. But you can play around with it and see what you like best :)
Well she was right, as a begginer i started learning the piece 1 month ago and with a lot of practice I can know play it. W video W explanations W teatcher 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I am a complete beginner and have been working on this for a while. The way you created this video is as amazing as the music itself. You've broken it down so well that even someone like me can play this masterpiece with enough time and effort. Love, from London ❤
I am so happy to have this tutorial...i actually learned how to play interstellar... It is also my favourite movie so that theme brings me joy and happiness as well emotions... ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Although it is very difficult for me who gave up playing the piano 8 years ago, but learning it is one of my big goals, I practice so much to be able to do it perfectly, thank you for everything.❣️💎
You are a great instructor. I’m not new to music but I am brand new to keyboard. I’ve always loved this piece and I am learning as my first piano piece so I can teach our little kids keyboard. Been playing along with your video here this past week in any free time I have with 3 little kids and I’m just about to start that cross over part. Thank you for your awesome teaching style here. This is helping me learn to appreciate keyboards in a new way.. by playing one myself. Thank you.
I absolutely love your tutorials. I have never come across such a patient and in-depth video. I have learned a lot from you; I am beyond thankful for that! Hope you will continue to give us these absolute treasures. Lots of love and luck in life!
Hi Brennan, just wanted to say that it's obvious you've put a huge amount of work into this and it is really worth it. The instruction is excellent and perfectly paced and the whole thing is immensely helpful. Thank you for giving us this tool to learn with!
Awwww 😭😭 thank you so much!!!!! This was the nicest comment I’ve read all day, thank you! You’re absolutely welcome and I’m really happy I could help!🩷🩷🩷
This is my dream tutorial Im 12 yrs old and i am learning it. This piece literally gives me goosebumps. This would be the best piece i will learn after für elise.Thank you so much to teach us a complex beautiful piece in such an easy way.And btw I love the way u teach.
Thank you so much!!! I feel the exact same way about this song, I’m so excited for you to learn it! Keep me posted on how it goes🩷🩷🩷🥰🥰🥰🥰 and I love fur Elise too!!!
@BrennanChilds I had to come back here to tell you how much of an amazing teacher you are. Im enjoying each and every progress I'm making in playing this piece. I never thought I would get where I'm at. I bought this keyboard 2 years ago and this year I committed my self into learning and I'm happy with the help of your videos/lessons. Thank you so much. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦
WOW!!!!! That is amazing!!! I’m so happy to hear I can help you progress with piano and that you’re liking the videos. Thank you so much for your comment and have a wonderful day!🩷🩷🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love your tutorial and the way how you explain it step by step! The variations are really nice and I´m not forced to learn all of them at once or in correct order, that´s the best thing of this Theme, it has so many variations. Currently I´m struggling with section 1, adding the E in right hand. Don´t know why... But practice is the best way to handle it right? :) The Main Theme and variations are easier for me.
Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. Im really happy you’re enjoying the video!! Keep up the good work 🫶🏻🫶🏻 and yes, practice makes perfect!❤️❤️❤️❤️that part is superrrr tricky!
Thank you so much for this one. I have almost no background of piano-keyboard and now I can play the whole interstellar theme. The inner freedom and sense of abandon that I get from playing this hard to put in words. Thank you @BrennanChilds. I am very grateful to you. I hope you continue to do more Hans Zimmer themes & other semi-classical style movie or series music like Ramin Djwadi's Light of the Seven in Game of Thrones . Lots of love, fun and joy to you ! I wish you much more success! Rare to see deep work tutorials in youtube.
Wow that is AWESOME!!!!! thank you so much for the kind words! You should seriously be impressed with yourself on learning this entire theme with no piano background… That is super cool! I’ll keep that request in mind for future videos, I’m getting in the Game of Thrones right now with the new house of dragon season out😊
Am from Colombia and this is the best video that I've been found. I'm learning English hearing you, and one of my favorite piano pieces. Thanks you so much. Keep it up!
I started this tutorial today because I finally felt ready to learn this song. I’ve played some piano before, but not much, so I call my self a beginner. I’m already 13 minutes in to the video and can play the whole intro on day one. I really hope that I will continue until I can play it all! ❤️ The only problem is that I don’t have very much spare time. (Edits) 1 week 22 minutes in to the tutorial without any problems. Let’s go! 1 month About 30 minutes without problem💪
Wowwww very well done for picking it up so quickly especially without having a lot of spare time! Keep up the good work and let me know how it goes on the rest of the song 🩷🩷😊😊
I started learning this song a week ago, im so excited. But idk if the pedal is needed or when should i use it. I hope i can come back in a couple months and say that im able to play the hole song. Great video 😊
I've been searching for a tutorial like this for soo long and finally got it :) I would really like to thank you for this tutorial, It's really helpful
I love this tutorial a lot, you explain it so good, I have small hands so sometimes is really hard to reach to some notes, but besides that, this tutorial is amazing thank you so much, this make my life happier☺️
Found how an additional part from the Chinese woman playing a church organ is integrated on the final part starting on C…continuous in 4:4….cdefedecdefgdefgagfefgabcbabgabe etc working up scale, it has 2 octaves of repetition and matches the last part you played, so it’s all finally integrated 🎆. But this is going to take awhile. Massive leap forward today with early and middle section of piece.
Okay one of the best tutorial i’ve seen on RU-vid !!! It was my dream to play this song and i learned it with your video and after a lot of practice I can impress my family/friends now !!!! So thank you so much 🤍
i finally completed this after two days, it took a lot of practice just as u said but its so beautiful i had to give it my all.Thank you for the tutorial
