We have already familiarized ourselves with a huge number of memories of Soviet and German soldiers. This time I decided to turn to the general's memoirs to look at the events of the Second World War from a different angle.
Operation Barbarossa (Directive No. 21) was a strategic plan of Nazi Germany's attack on the USSR developed in December 1940 - June 1941 and a military operation of the same name carried out in accordance with this plan at the initial stage of the Great Patriotic War.
Hitler's decision to carry out Operation Barbarossa against the USSR was a turning point in the history of Nazi Germany, which led him to a war on two fronts and the collapse of the Nazi regime less than four years later. When developing the Barbarossa plan, designed only for a "lightning war", the underestimation of the enemy was initially allowed and the possibility of a fast-moving war turning into a protracted one was not taken into account.
