There are only 12 cricket teams who have Test status and all of them has cricket as the most popular sport. America does play cricket, but they are a small team, aka Associate Team, along with Scotland, Oman, Netherlands, UAE, Namibia, Nepal, and PNG and have ODI status temporarily. If we talk about their performance on international level, then they did play Champions Trophy 2004 and that’s where they gained ODI status, but later lost it because they played 2 matches against Australia and Zealand, which they lost both. And for the future, they have already qualified for 2024 T20 World Cup. Back in 2019 they regained ODI status till 2023 World Cup and if they perform better than two or more other associate teams, then they can extend it till 2027 World Cup

Many other international games like football etc have time limits. Game can be ended within 3 to 4 hours. But t20 odi test take half or full day time or some days .game time is also one of the factors.
