Sanchi Stupa - Full Tour With History
Hello and welcome to my travel vlog where I take you on a virtual tour of one of India's most significant historical sites - Sanchi Stupa. Located near Bhopal, this UNESCO World Heritage site is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in Indian history and Buddhist culture.
To begin my journey, I took a bus from my hotel in Bhopal and arrived at Nadra bus stand. From there, I embarked on a short journey to Sanchi, which took me through scenic landscapes and picturesque villages. Upon arrival, I bought my ticket at the ticket window, took an auto rickshaw, and reached at the entry gate of the Sanchi Stupa complex which is situated on top of a hill.
As I explored the complex, I was struck by the grandeur and beauty of the main stupa (Stupa No. 1), which was the largest among the three stupas in the area. Built by the Great Mauryan king Ashoka the Great, this stupa holds great historical significance and is considered a masterpiece of ancient Indian architecture. The stupa is surrounded by smaller stupas, remains of temples and boddh vihars, and ancient pillars of Ashoka and Gupta kings, all of which offer a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the region.
As a travel vlogger, I was eager to capture the essence of Sanchi Stupa and share it with my viewers. However, I was not allowed to shoot using mini tripod or selfie stick, so I deposited it with the security guard at the entrance. Despite this minor setback, I was able to capture the beauty of the complex through my mobile camera, showcasing the intricate carvings, sculptures, and paintings that adorn the stupas and pillars.
One of the highlights of my visit was learning about the Buddhist significance of Sanchi Stupa, which is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India. According to Buddhist tradition, Sanchi was the birthplace of Mahastupa, the son of King Ashoka, who was responsible for spreading Buddhism across India and beyond. The stupa, therefore, holds great spiritual and cultural significance for Buddhists around the world.
My visit to Sanchi Stupa was a memorable and enriching experience that offered me a glimpse into the rich history and culture of India. I highly recommend this destination to anyone interested in ancient Indian architecture and Buddhist culture.
