Majid Khan, the eldest son of Muhammad Khān, succeeded his father about 1761 and to him succeeded in 1774 his son Muhammad Amin Khan, who removed his headquarters to Seoni and built the present residence of the Diwan's family. Up to this time #Seoni was a village of no importance. After administering the District for twenty-four years with much credit to himself, he died in 1798 and was succeeded by his eldest son Muhammad Zaman Khan.

Bukht Buland, 1700 A. D.-Bukht' Buland was the
third or fourth in descent from Jatha and was reigning in 1700. He went to Delhi and attended the Court of the Emperor Aurangzeb. The Emperor converted him to the Muhammadan faith and acknowledged him as Raja of Deogarh under the name of Bukht Búland. Appreciating the spectacle of the civilsation and wealth of the Moghul empire
he determined to set about the development of his own territories.
Industrious settlers from all quarters were attracted to Gondwana, many thousands of villages were founded and agriculture, manufactures and even commerce made consider-able advance. It may with truth be said that much of the success of the Maratha administration was owing to the ground work established by him. Bukht Buland added to his do-minions from those of the Rajas of Chanda and Mandla, acquiring from the latter, who then ruled at Chauragarh, possession of Seoni Katangi Chhappara and Dongartal which were held for him by a relative, Ramsingh. Ramsingh made his headquarters at Chhapara where he built a fort, the
remains of which are still to be found.
Partabgarh and Songarhi in Bhandara were conquered for him by Raj Khan, a Pathan adventurer who was founder of the #Dewanfamily of Seoni. Bukht Buland selected him as fouzdar (governor) of #Dongartal in Seoni.
Bukht Buland's territories comprised the modern districts of Chhindwara, Betul and portions of Nagpur, Seoni, Bhandara and Balaghat. The plateau and plain country were known respectively as Deogarb above and Deogarh below the ghats. Bukat Buland usually resided in Deogarh except
