Kolkata Metro is the country’s oldest Metro which has been expanding its wings in order to connect the ‘City of Joy’ with its suburbs.
Kolkata Metro is planning induction of 85 new design rakes in its fleet at an estimated cost of Rs 6,000 crore.
Terming it as "futuristic", these new aesthetically-designed air-conditioned rakes will be produced at Integral Coach Factory, Chennai and taking inspiration from Bengal’s bridal and terracotta artwork, these rakes will have nose cone design.

कोलकाता की शान कोलकाता मेट्रो पर ऐसी अनोखी और दिलचस्प विडिओ बनाने के लिए The Draft के टीम को तह दिल से शुक्रिया अदा करना चाहते हैं। ❤ कोलकाता मेट्रो सिर्फ कोलकाता की ही नहीं बल्कि पूरे भारत की आन बान और शान है। आज के दिन आधुनिक पाश्चात्य तकनीकों से चाहे देश में कितने भी मेट्रो लाईनें क्यों न बन गयी हों, लेकिन शत प्रतिशत स्वदेशी तकनीक से बनी (और वह भी इतने दशकों पहले!) पूरे भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में चलनेवाली सबसे पहली एवं सबसे श्रेष्ठ मेट्रो कोलकाता मेट्रो ही है। हो सकता है कि दशकों की लापरवाही के वजह से कोलकाता मेट्रो धीरे धीरे अपनी शान खोती रही, लेकिन इसके पुनरुत्थान के ख़बर से कोलकातावासियों की प्रसन्नता मानो सातवे आसमान को छुने लगी हो...। पुरानी फ़िल्मी कहावत है कि हारकर जीतनेवाले को बाज़ीगर कहते हैं और हारे बाज़ी को जीतनेवाला सिकंदर कहलाता है। और कोलकाता मेट्रो को वाकई सही मायनों में बाज़ीगर और सिकंदर पुकारा जा सकता है, इसके लिए भारतीय रेल एवं भारत सरकार को दिल से नमन और धन्यवाद....। 🙏

कोलकाता मेट्रो के नाम बस एक ही कीर्तिमान है और वो यह कि वह देश में चलने वाली सबसे पहली मेट्रो थी। बस। बाकि अब यह मेट्रो देश के अन्य शहरों में चल रही मेट्रो ट्रेनों के मुकाबले में बहुत पिछड़ी हो गई है। 1.5 करोड़ की आबादी वाले शहर में कम से कम सौ किलोमीटर का मेट्रों ट्रैक होना चाहिए।

@@thecomment9489 शायद आपने हमारी कमेंट गौर से पढ़ी न हो... ख़ैर, सबको मालूम है ही कि कोलकाता मेट्रो की दुर्दशा दशकों की लापरवाही के वजह से हुई है...। इस संभाषण पर राजनीतिक रंग लाना बिल्कुल नापसंद है हमें, लेकिन दुर्भाग्यवश सच्चाई यही है कि मेट्रो अन्य राज्यों के समान बंगाल में कभी सियासी मुद्दा बना ही नहीं। फ़िलहाल आपको बंगाल में किसी को भी मेट्रो के नाम वोट मांगते हुए या किसी को भी मेट्रो के नाम पर वोट देते हुए दिखेगी तक नहीं। क्योंकि राज्य में कई और सारे काफ़ी गंभीर एवं मुश्किल समस्याएँ हैं, जिनका हल निकालना सबसे अधिक अत्यावश्यक है। इसीलिए सदियों तक इस मेट्रो का संरक्षण एवं विस्तार करना नामुमकिन सा हो चुका था। न ही यहाँ के राज्य सरकार को अपने ही शहर की मेट्रो से कोई दिलचस्पी रही है, और न ही पूर्व में कांग्रेस के शासनकाल में केंद्रीय सरकार को अपने रेल से संचालित कोलकाता मेट्रो से कोई ख़ास लगाव रही है। ख़ैर, कोई नहीं... आज इतने सालों बाद हमें फ़िर से कोलकाता मेट्रो पर फ़क्र करने का अवसर दोबारा प्राप्त हो चुका है। आज श्री नरेंद्र मोदीजी एवं श्री अश्विनी वैष्णवजी के नेतृत्व में कोलकाता मेट्रो को फ़िर से अपने पंखुड़ियों को फैलाकर उड़ने का मौका मिल चुका है, जहाँ मेट्रो लाईनों एवं रूटों का ज़ोर-शोर से विस्तार किया जा रहा है, नए नवीन रेक्स लाए जा रहे हैं, मेट्रो में सफ़र करना और आरामदायक, मज़ेदार एवं तेज़ बनता जा रहा है... हाँ भले ही देश के किसी भी और मेट्रो सिस्टम से पृथक यह मेट्रो का प्रचालन भारतीय रेल के अंतर्गत किया जा रहा हो, इसलिए कुछ न कुछ छोटी मोटी खामियाँ हमें शायद ही देखने को मिले, लेकिन उन्हे आराम से नज़र-अंदाज़ किया जा सकता है।

@@thecomment9489 कृपया भूलिएगा मत कि मेट्रो लाईनें दुनियाभर के बड़े बड़े शहरों में वहाँ रहनेवाले आम लोगों के दैनिक आवागमन/यातायात को सुविधाजनक बनाने के लिए ही बनाई गई हैं। शुरुआत में हमारे देश में कोलकाता और फ़िर दिल्ली में भी इसी उद्देश्य से मेट्रो का प्रचालन किया गया था...। लेकिन पिछले कुछ सालों में मानो देशभर में मेट्रो का जैसे लहर चलने लगी हो, हर गली कस्बे मोहल्ले में मानो लोगों को अपनी अपनी मेट्रो चाहिए, बिना इसकी आवश्यकता एवं व्यवहार्यता को सोचे समझे। हम ऐसा बिल्कुल नहीं कह रहे हैं कि देशभर में मेट्रो का विस्तार नहीं होना चाहिए, बिल्कुल होना चाहिए - लेकिन ज़रूरत के हिसाब से, एक मामूली सी मेट्रो लाईन बनाने में भी हज़ारों करोड़ों की खर्चा उठानी होती है किसी भी सरकार को - जो कि अन्य अच्छे समाजिक कल्याण के क्षेत्रों भी इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता था। अभी मानो देशभर में "मेट्रो" एक दिखावे का अवसर बन चुका है - और एक अजीब सा मुकाबला (इसी शब्द का प्रयोग किया था न आपने?😂) होने लगा हो... कि उनके पास मेट्रो है, तो हमारे भी होनी चाहिए! फ़िर क्या, लगाओ जनता के टैक्स के पैसों को आग! जहाँ ढंग के बस सर्विस न चलती हो, वहाँ हज़ारों करोड़ों का खर्चा कर मेट्रो बनाना सिर्फ़ हास्यास्पद है, और कुछ नहीं (हो सके तो कभी खबर लिजिएगा कि मेट्रो बनने से पूर्व कोलकाता, दिल्ली, बेंगलूरू, मुंबई जैसे शहरों में कितने हज़ारों की तादाद में बसें चलती थीं - और आज भी चलती है, इतने सारे बसों से जब लाखों करोड़ों की जनसंख्या संभाली नहीं जा रही थी, तब जाकर बनी इन शहरों में मेट्रो - ज़रा जांच पड़ताल कर लिजिएगा अगर हो सके तो...)। बस बेमतलब का प्रॉपर्टी का रेट और घर का किराया बढ़ाने का एवं सरकारी प्रक्रियाओं में और करोड़ों के घोटाले करने का ज़रिया बन चुका है आज देश में मेट्रो...। इस दिखावे के चक्कर में न जाने कितने राज्य सरकारों को अब नुकसान और घाटे का सामना करना पड़ रहा है... लखनऊ, जयपुर, कानपुर, नागपुर, हालांकि चेन्नई और हैदराबाद जैसे बड़े बड़े महानगरों में भी मेट्रो बेहद घाटे में चल रही हैं, उतने यात्रि-संख्या भी तो होनी चाहिए न इन सारे मेट्रो को चलाने लायक? (ढंग का "Feasibility Analysis" किये बगैर अगर हज़ारो करोड़ एकसाथ फूंक दोगे, तो क्या ही होगा!)... कोई नहीं, और भी मेट्रो सिस्टम बन रहें हैं - आग्रा, गोरखपुर... न जाने और कहाँ कहाँ... कल को कहेंगे, कि शिमला मनाली में भी मेट्रो बनाएंगे... बनाए, अपने को क्या, आग लगाए पब्लिक के पैसों को... यहाँ तो सब अपने ही "बाप का माल" है...।

@@thecomment9489 रही बात डेढ़ करोड़ आबादियों वाली कोलकाता की... तो कृपया याद रखिएगा कि यहाँ बड़े पैमाने पर लोकल ट्रेनें भी चलती हैं, ४०० कि.मि. मेट्रोवाली दिल्ली से कई सैंकड़ों गुना ज़्यादा... सियालदाह उत्तर, सियालदाह दक्षिण, सियालदाह मेन, हावड़ा मेन, हावड़ा कॉर्ड, हावड़ा दक्षिण-पूर्व, चक्ररेल... ऐसे कई सारे शाखाओं पर अनगिनत लोकल ट्रेन दिन-रात कोलकाता शहर और शहर के उपनगरीय इलाकों को चीरते हुए निकलती है (मेट्रो से कई गुना तेज़)। हालांकि मुम्बई में केंद्रीय समर्थन के चलते कोलकाता से कुछ ज़्यादा ही ट्रेनें चलती हैं, लेकिन यह भी भूलना नहीं चाहिए कि मुम्बई और मुम्बई के उपनगरीय इलाकों (ठाणे, कल्याण, नवी मुम्बई, पनवेल इत्यादि सब मिलाकर) की जनसंख्या कोलकाता से काफ़ी ज़्यादा भी है। लेकिन कुल लोकल ट्रेन का रूट/नेटवर्क के हिसाब से देखा जाए तो कोलकाता का लोकल ट्रेन नेटवर्क डेढ़ हज़ार कि.मि. से भी अधिक है, मुम्बई से कई गुना ज़्यादा! कोलकाता में लोग आराम से नहीं, बल्कि जल्द-से-जल्द व तुरंत अपने गंतव्य तक पहुंचना पसंद करते हैं। इसीलिए यहाँ मेट्रो से कई अधिक विस्तार लोकल ट्रेनों की हुई है। हालांकि अब तो लोकल ट्रेन भी आरामदायक एवं दिलचस्प बनने लगे हैं यहाँ। बहुत जल्द ही मुम्बई जैसे वातानुकूलित (AC) लोकल ट्रेनें भी यहाँ चलने लगेगी! कौन कौन से रूटों पर ए.सि. लोकल शुरुआत के दिनों में चलाई जाएगी, वह भी लगभग तय हो चुकी है, बस चेन्नई के पेरंबूर में स्थित ICF के कारखाने से इनके आने की देरी है बस (आजकल यही ICF वंदे भारत के रेक/कोच बनाने में काफ़ी व्यस्त रहती है)! और रही बात मेट्रो की, तो आपके इच्छानुसार बहुत ही जल्द कोलकाता में सौ कि.मि. से भी अधिक मेट्रो अब बस चंद ही कुछ सालों में चलने लगेंगी। और भी कई सारे रूटों पर मेट्रो लाईनें बनाने का प्रस्ताव भी आ चुके हैं, उन्हे बनने में ज़्यादा देर नहीं लगनी चाहिए। आप भले ही यकीन न करें, लेकिन पिछले कुछ दिनों में कोलकाता मेट्रो के निर्माण के कामों में काफ़ी स्फूर्ति देखने को मिल रही है, जो इतने सालों से मानो गायब ही था। इस गति के लिए हम श्री नरेंद्र मोदीजी के नेतृत्व के प्रति आभार प्रकट करते हैं (क्या पता, बंगाल २०२६ में कुछ अलग ही मैजिक कर पूरे देश को चौंका दे, आख़िर कल किसने देखा! 😄)... ख़ैर, वह कहते हैं न... कि देर आए, दुरुस्त आए... आपके अमूल्य समय के लिए पश्चिम बंगाल से इस नाचीज़ का ढेर सारा शुक्रिया और प्यार...। आइएगा कभी हमारे यहाँ, एकबार यहाँ का दुर्गा पूजा ज़रूर देखकर जाइएगा मिस किये बगैर... ❤️

Wrong. The map shown of kolkata in this video is actually a map of kolkata metropolitan region. Which has area of total approx 2000 sqkm. Not 201 sqkm. Pl rectify it

Kolkata metro hai actual metro. Delhi metro koi metro nahi hai wo urban commuter train hai. Aur delhi mai mode of transportation kolkata se kam hai islya Delhi metro hi serf varosa. Kolkata mai road connectivity, metro connectivity aur tram vi hai. Kolkata mai traffic jam delhi se bahut kaam hai kyu ki kolkata k traffic management delhi se kafi bahater hai. Haasi toh Kolkata walo ko aana chahiya delhi ki transportation k haal dakke.

I agree with you, Delhi metro has big network, but it doesn't mean that Kolkata can't beat Delhi metro. We should spread this video to our Kolkata people.

Kolkata is not given a bigger network for metro as it has already got 1501 km long network of suburban railways (Kolkata suburban railways), which is longest of its type in the country. Although, with the increasing demand and expanding city, Need for metro network is becoming more prominent

Beta kolkata metro aur delhi metro main farak hota hai. Metro word ka actually matpab patal rail hota hai. Delhi main kutch jaga ko chod k jo nehi hai. Metro ka asli feel lena hai to kolkata aao. And 2nd kolkata has 1500km surban rail network. Don't think that local trains are unmodernised. Medha rakes are sometimes better than metro

@@ritabratagoswami7724 Without knowing putting arguments is foolishness. Kolkata has just 33 lakhs vehicles while Delhi has nearly 1.8 crore vehicles. Kolkatan uses public transport so the pressure is less. The road space of Kolkata is just 5% while Delhi has 22% of its total area. Btw I live in Kolkata only. You need to visit Delhi to know the difference I am talking about. The local train connectivity is of Suburban and not distributed throughout Kolkata. Only it has Circular Railways.

Mr. Mohameddan your 786 is bit identical. Kolkata metro is fully funded by the Government of India with the help of Indian Tax payers. State Governments is totally inefficient and petty cheap minded here. Delhi metro is more than 300 kms long where as Kolkata is still 46 kms. Thanks to your beloved Pishi, who did not help the Government of India for land acquisition.

Delhi metro is not metro it is urban commuter train. 😝🤣 metro runs on 3rd rail and underground not with overhead wire and 80% of its route above ground. I think delhi first need to see how metro looks like.🙄

@@abhishek5847 Mai kya galata bola? Metro usko hi bolte hai jo underground chalta hai aur 3rd rail se power leta hai. Metro mai charna hai toh Kolkata aao dakho ki metro kisko bolte hai. Delhi mai jo hai wo metro nahi wo local train k feel date hai. Atleast hum Kolkata walo ko toh aisa hi lagte hai. Hai connectivity zyada hai kolkata se but thats not exact metro category.

Please try to start joka to BBD bag metro at the earliest. As Metro network in NCR is almost 10 time larger than Kolkata though it has been started 18 years later than, Kolkata, Govt should think to expand it in different busy rout also viz Dumdum to Barasat/Bashir hut. 2nd - Howrah to Durgapur/Asansol. 3rd - Dumdum to Kalyani etc.etc If the Govt have any fund problem, may start it in PPT mode. But should start the project at the earliest......

after staying in chennai & gurgaon, i can see that kolkata is going back rapidly with respect to its counterparts.. all other cities are growing like anything, infrastructure development is just another level.. people staying in kolkata wont understand that, as they are habituated to see one 5km flyover buidling for ages.. after staying for 4 years in gurgaon, i get confused (even true for cab drivers) every now and then with the roads as it is changing so rapidly (within a few month infra mod is happening)..

Size of kolkata you are showing is theoretically correct but practically wrong. Kolkata is divided into suburbs like New town,Rajarhat,Bidhannagar,Dumdum,Barrackpore,Hoogly Chandannagar,Srirampore,Howrah etc and adjoining districts.Baruipur to Kalyani and Chinsurah to Santragachi . Politically they are out of kolkata but actually the same city has its length more than 100 km. 2)Metro is limited to main Kolkata only,even not in new Kolkata. Because 1000 of Suburban train system,circular serves Kolkata and is having bigger network than Mumbai Suburban locals. The same is not present in Delhi. Delhi is based on road and metro only. Kolkata is based on EMU, circular railway,Metro railway,Road,Water transport many ways.

Yehi problem hai nalle chapri log ke saath. Mere bhai hydrabad and bengaluru ka size hi itna nehi hai waha itna length ka metro hoga. Kolkata metro currently 2nd biggest metro network route under planned hai. Mumbai se vi jada , as I know. And my nalle Kolkata ka surban rail network india ka biggest hai ( 1501km) and world ka one of biggest hai. Ye Sam samajh na locals bad hote hai locals ke medha rakes mat de sakta hai metro rakes ko. Kolkata india ka 3rd productive metropolitan area hai. Wo samajh k baat karo

Aur ha india ka deepest metro station howrah hai delhi main nehi , December pe start hoga. Delhi metro metro se jada urban rail bolsakte ho with ac rakes . 90-95% tracks are elevated . WB is almost no1 in agricultural production. No1 in rice production, no 1 or 2 on vegetables production, WB service sector is huge. And Mumbai didn't beat Kolkata in 1965 . Mumbai takes year 1980 to beat Kolkata . And why Mumbai delhi ahead . Because all know that how Mumbai has made financial amd commercial centre of India after independence and delhi remains capital , while it was just made capital by British because fear in independent movement of Kolkata. And my dear some same wrong data has been shown in various websites in 6-7 years. Kolkata GDP in 2020 was 256 billion USD..amd Mumbai somewhere around 310-330 billion USD. Tge contribution of Mumbai has been decreased in last few years. We should ask question that why Mumbai is not devloped while all money from India goes to Mumbai. Full of MISINFORMATION! Kolkata Metro's revival started with Mamata's efforts when she was the rail minister for the last time. The expansion planning started from that time. Since most of them are being completed now Modi govt is taking the credit. The expansion was NOT EASY. There were lots of legal, financial and political hurdles. Research well before making a video.
