DAL NIZAMI / MIXED DAL TADKA
Preparation time 10 minutes
Cooking time 25-30 minutes
Serve 2-4
Ingredients
For Washing Dal
½ cup whole Green Moong (washed & soaked) हरी मूंग दाल
1 cup Chana Dal (washed & soaked) चना दाल
1 cup Toor dal (washed & soaked) तूर दाल
Water as required, पानी
For Boiling Dal
4-5 cups Water, पानी
3-4 tbsp Ghee, घी
Salt to taste, नमक स्वादअनुसार
1 tsp Turmeric powder, हल्दी पाउडर
For Onion Coriander Paste
2 large Onions, cut into half, प्याज
2 no. Green chillies (less spicy & broken into half) हरी मिर्च
¼ cup fresh Coriander leaves, roughly torn, धनिया पत्ता
Salt to taste, नमक स्वादअनुसार
1 tbsp Oil, तेल
½ inch Ginger (peeled & sliced) अदरक
For Tempering
2 tbsp Oil, तेल
Prepared Onion Coriander Paste, तयार किया हुआ प्याज धनिये का पेस्ट
¼ tsp Asafoetida, हींग
1 tbsp Coriander powder, धनिया पाउडर
¼ tsp Turmeric powder, हल्दी पाउडर
1 cup Curd, beaten, दही
1 tbsp Degi red chili powder, देगी लाल मिर्च पाउडर
A pinch of cumin powder, जीरा पाउडर
2 tbsp Fried Onion, (optional) तले हुए प्याज
Boiled Dal, उबली हुई दाल
1-2 tbsp Ghee, घी
2 tbsp Fried Onion, (optional) तले हुए प्याज
½ inch Ginger (peeled & julienned) अदरक
2 tbsp fresh Coriander leaves, finely chopped, धनिया पत्ता
Prepared Tadka, तयार किया हुआ तड़का
For Tadka
2 tbsp Oil, तेल
1 tbsp Ghee, घी
5-6 no. dry Red chillies, सूखी लाल मिर्च
½ tsp Cumin seeds, जीरा
For Garnish
Prepared Tadka, तयार किया हुआ तड़का
Coriander sprig, धनिया पत्ता
Fried Onions, तले हुए प्याज
Process
For Washing Dal
In a bowl, add green green moong dal, chana dal, toor dal and wash it well.
Add water for soaking and leave it aside for 10-15 minutes.
For Boiling Dal
In a pressure cooker, add water, ghee, salt to taste, turmeric powder, soaked TATA SAMPANN green moong dal, chana dal and toor dal.
Cover it with a lid and cook it until 3-4 whistles. Keep it aside to cool down at room temperature.
Mash it well with a masher and keep it aside for further use.
For Paste
In a mixer grinder jar, add onions, green chillies, fresh coriander leaves, salt to taste, oil, ginger and grind it smoothly .
Keep it aside for further use.
For Tempering
In a handi, add oil, once it's hot, add prepared onion coriander paste and saute it for 5-6 minutes until golden brown.
Add asafoetida, coriander powder, turmeric powder, curd and saute it well.
Add degi red chili powder, a pinch of cumin powder, fried onions, boiled dal, ghee and cook it well for 4-5 minutes.
Finish it with some fried onion, ginger, coriander leaves, prepared tadka and mix it well.
Transfer it to a serving bowl, garnish it with prepared tadka, coriander sprig and fried onions.
Serve hot with roti or naan.
For Tadka
In a pan, add oil, ghee, once it's hot, add dry red chillies, cumin seeds and splutter well.
Keep it aside for further use.

Just for your information, while opening any plastic bag, cut the piece parallel to the edge of the pack and do not separate it from the package. This will help while segregation of waste and we can avoid getting it mixed with other waste and ultimately avoid it from going into the cattle's stomach. I have been practicing this since 2017, when I saw a cow suffering from abdominal pain and as a part of treatment, they removed 16 kg of plastic from her stomach. This may sound very small and irrelevant but it impacts nature positively. Lastly, the Daal looks amazing ❤

Iske liye hum ek or chiz kr skte hai..??? Jitna b vegitable waste or fruit waste hai use separately cotton bags me daale or baki ka garbage alag daale...kyunki itne animal ko garbage me se khane se to nhi rok skte but atleast humare is step se wo plastic or other harmful chize khane se Bach jayenge....kyunki wo veggies waste or fruit waste or Jo b khane ki item hogi use baki k garbage k sath mix nhi Kiya hai to wo garbage nhi khayenge....

Ranveer ji bate..What a fantastic mixed Grain dhal. The waste normally comes from vegetable unused during the rest of the week. as people change dishes and veg is pushed at the back until it is burried in the weekly bin. So So Sad. I hve a recepie for a casarole by sauting had veg 1st. them washed rice. Crusshed tomatos followed by grren veg. Semi cook it than layer it like Lasange with cheese and finally garnish with Green corinder leaves and cook in oven for 30min.. All ther herbs and spices are optional. to your taste. NO MORE VEGETABLE WASTE..

Correction needed in description: The serving size is 2-4 and you are using almost 2 1/2 cup daal. It’s way too much for 2-4 people. Moreover, you did mention in the video that it’s enough for 10 people. Please correct the description. P.S: This mistake is there in your nawabi daal recipe and we, the family of 4, ended up eating the daal for 4 days!!

Respected Ranvir, A humble request. I have observed that you always use traditional utensils like in this video you are using copper utensils with internal kalai coating. You know this kalai coating is almost vanished. Please see if you can do something for it. Phir mat kahiye ga ke kisi ne bataya nahi😂 Thanks and amezing receipy

Waited for long but it’s time to mention. Personally i am not in favour of anything related to invaders. Many times i have heard from you speaking about nawab. It’s painful to see someone glorifying invaders. I get it if we cook their dishes but that doesn’t mean we have to glorify them. sir you can't give your value to peoples im sorry. you use tata dal (you get paid by Tata to promote ) for big companies like Tata. so that means you advertising for Tata right? what about local shops and buying local products to we can support local ??? you give your money to big companies. no good if you love our country then ( desh ki daal ) hahaha. thats funny. please promote local shop not tata

Thing is our moms never get credit for all this techniques bcas they use desi terms or home language. In fact they are being made fun and criticized for being lazy. When it comes from well recognized professional, it gets due respect and credit.

Ranveer namaskar I appreciate your recipes .just want to share please don’t use aluminium cooker, adding salt when we steam dal is not healthy, please advise viewers to soak dal for at least 4 hours and then preferably boil them without cooker .please do your research to agree or disagree .yeh na kahena ki Maine Bataya nahi

I am a born Hyderabadi with generations of Hyderabadi lineage. Never ever had this kind of Daal neither in my home nor eaten in any of the traditional Hyderabadi households. *Kuchch bhi* 😮
