Vajrayogini Temple, Kathmandu Nepal
This temple, dedicated to Vajrayogini, is located on the side of the hill between the Yanglesho caves and the town of Pharping. It is one of the main Newar Buddhist Vajrayogini temples of the Nepal mandala which include the Sankhu Vajrayogini, Vidhyeshvari Vajrayogini, Phamting Vajrayogini, Guhyeshwari and the Pulchowk Khagayogini temples.
It is said to have been established by the Pamtingpa brothers, two important disciples of the Buddhist mahasiddhas Naropa and Maitrepa. The present structure probably dates to the 17th century and has been renovated.
पुण्यप्रसाद पराजुलीको जन्म २०२३ साल, भाद्र महिनाको २८ गते मंगलवार तदनुसार सन् १९६६ सेप्टेम्बर १३ तारिख पूर्वी नेपालको भोजपुर जिल्ला स्थित चरम्बी गा. वि. स. मा भएको थियो । छिमेकका गाउँलेहरूले मान्ने गरेको बौद्धधर्म प्रति सानै उमेरदेखि आकर्षण हुनुभएका पुण्य, काठमाडाैँमा अमृत साइन्स क्यापसमा बी. एस. सी. पढेर केही समय पथप्रदर्शक भै पर्यटन क्षेत्रमा पनि काम गर्नुभयाे । नाथममा श्रीधर राणासँग भेट भएपछि उहाँले बौद्धधर्मको महायान अभ्यास गर्नुका साथै तिब्बती भाषाको अध्ययन गर्नुभयाे । पुण्यप्रसाद पराजुली हाल नाथमलगायत अन्य संस्थाहरूमा बौद्धधर्म अध्यापन गर्नुहुन्छ । उहाँ लुम्बिनी विश्वविद्यालयसँग पनि आबद्ध हुनुहुन्थ्याे ।
पुण्यप्रसाद पराजुली तिब्बती भाषाका अनुवादक (लाेचवा) हुनुहुन्छ । उहाँको पहिलो पुस्तकको नाम चोग्युर लिङ्पा जीवनी हो ।
Punya Prasad Parajuli received a BA in Physics, an MA in Anthropology, and an MA in Nepalese History, Culture, and Archeology from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He has also received an MA in Buddhist Studies from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya, India.
Punya is actively involved in translating Tibetan and Sanskrit texts into Nepali. He has been a Tibetan language instructor at the Center for Nepalese and Asian Studies, Tribhuvan University, and a Sanskrit language teacher at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling and Shechen Monasteries in Kathmandu. Punya taught the Tibetan language with the Buddhist Studies program in 2006, 2009, and 2011-2018. He has also been a Tibetan language and culture instructor and research guide for Cornell University students studying Buddhist Culture in Nepal.
