In Hindu theology, blowing of conch shell is considered necessary in every auspicious work like worship, festival, haven, war, victory, arrival, marriage, coronation. The deep, intense and resonant sound of the conch is so sacred in itself that it fills every mind with spirituality with its touch.
It is a mandatory rule to blow conch shell during morning and evening aarti in temples. Worship is considered incomplete without Shankhnaad. Durga or Kali Puja is not considered complete without conch shell.
In the tenth hymn of the fourth stanza of the Atharvaveda, it is said that the conch is associated with space, air, light and gold. Its sound is supposed to weaken the enemies. This is our protector. It subdues demons and demons, drives away ignorance, disease and poverty, and prolongs life.
हिंदू धर्मशास्त्र में पूजा-पाठ, उत्सव, हवन, युद्ध, विजय, आगमन, विवाह, राज्याभिषेक जैसे हर शुभ कार्य में शंख बजाना आवश्यक माना जाता है। शंख की गहरी, तीव्र और गूंजती हुई ध्वनि अपने आप में इतनी पवित्र होती है कि हर मन को अपने स्पर्श से आध्यात्मिकता से भर देती है।
मंदिरों में सुबह-शाम आरती के समय शंख बजाना अनिवार्य नियम है। शंखनाद के बिना पूजा अधूरी मानी जाती है। दुर्गा या काली पूजा तो शंखनाद के बिना संपन्न मानी ही नहीं जाती।
अथर्ववेद के चौथे कांड के दसवें सूक्त में कहा गया है कि शंख अंतरिक्ष, वायु, ज्योतिमंडल और स्वर्ण से युक्त है। इसकी ध्वनि शत्रुओं को निर्बल करने वाली है। यही हमारा रक्षक है। यह राक्षसों और पिशाचों को वशीभूत करने वाला, अज्ञानता, रोग एवं दरिद्रता को दूर भगाने वाला तथा आयु को बढ़ाने वाला होता है।

Hence, the devotee attains supernatural bliss by seeing the God in each and every creature. In this way, devotion paid in full spirit opens the door to salvation for human beings.
सम्पूर्ण चराचर जगत में ईश्वर का वास है। ईश्वर के एकोहं बहुस्याम प्रजायेय (मैं एक से अनेक हो जाऊँ ) के संकल्प मात्र से सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि का निर्माण हुआ है। सभी जड़ और चेतन में वही व्याप्त है। अतः प्राणिमात्र में प्रभु दर्शन करके भक्त अलौकिक आनंद की प्राप्ति करता है। इस प्रकार सम्पूर्ण भाव से अर्पित भक्ति मानव के लिए मोक्ष का द्वार खोल देती है।
