Chera Dwip is an uninhabited island and extension of St. Martin's Island at the mouth of the Naf River in the Bay of Bengal. It's about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula and forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. Apart from Saint Martin, there are several Islands with an area of 100 to 500 square meters, Chera Dwip is one of them.
The Island, Chera Dwip, covers an area around three sq. kilometers. If you look at the Island from a distance it will seem like a forest land floating in the middle of the Bay of Bengal. The island is a coral paradise floating in the ocean blue water. The unrealistic beauty of the island cannot be described by words. Amazing scenarios can be seen on this island. The mind blowing greenery of 'Keya' bushes reflects the beauty of a different dimension. Tourists will surely be mesmerized by the unique beauty of this island.
During high tides it is divided from St. Martin's Island by the sea. During low tides, the island can be reached on foot for about 2½ hours from St. Martin's Island.
The most popular and easy means to reach Chhera Island is local motorboat or tourist boat services. Washed up corals are available here. It has an area of shrub and palm tree vegetation. No permanent settlement is established on the island due to lack of drinking water. Recently local administration ban to visit Chera Dwip for tourists and also apply to govt. to limited the visit in St. Martin also.
